Yeah, it was a really good time. At one count, we had 22 rotary powered cars there. Not bad for our first meet. smile.gif

Only if you bring enough chips to share. tongue.gif Edit: Joe can come, but only if he brings a broken piston that we can sacrifice to the rotary gods.

Can you still run OS 9 apps in it?

Gotta love the old school Toyotas. That's a beautiful car man. graemlins/thumb.gif Welcome!

If it's the same Beck Spyder that was down at Jeg's, it is indeed a very nice car. The Ferris Bueller Ferrari is a 250GT Spyder California, btw. smile.gif

haha Sweet. About time they noticed what a horrible POS Micro$$$oft has pawned off on us: http://www.internetnews.com/security/article.php/3374931

Man, that's really awful. I totally agree with TJ and the rest of you guys about drunks. Joe and Karl lost a good buddy of theirs from school this past year because of s drunk driver. It's bullshit that people cause that much grief and misery just because they won't control themselves.

Congrats, man! Time to upgrade to a Navigator. tongue.gif

Indeed. That is 180 degrees out from past Saudi behavior. It's excellent progress that we are all on the same page now. Let's hope it's not just symbolic. Their government has more than it's share of blood on it's hands for funding and spreading radical rhetoric to begin with.

I assure you that it is far more pleasant to be a moslem or sympathetic to islam in a country dominated by Christians than it is to live as a Christian in a country dominated by moslems. Try living your whole life in fear of opening your mouth, not because someone will argue with you on the internet, but because you could be lynched or killed. Or your home or church could be burned. Or your daughter kidnapped and raped. Try living with the fear of giving your children Christian names because they will be targets their whole lives. You don't know, because your stepfather never experienced life in a country like that. My father did. -
Edit: Is DJ meaning that the WRX and Evo started this "horsepower war"? I think you have a few different wars going on. Ford and GM have their deal, which Dodge is kind of jumping into with their Hemi cars; DCX and BMW have their tuner thing going on with the M cars and AMG; Mitsu and Subie have their one-upping happening with the rally compacts. That's leaving out the hp war happening in large sedans, like the Q45 versus LS430, or between the unblown Japanese sports cars -- S2000, RX-8 and 350Z. It would be nice to see that one get a little more serious. Any way you look at it, however, we are going to have some interesting stuff to play with in the future, both on the used market and in junkyards.

Another American died when this guy was grabbed. Perhaps that's how he felt, too. Kinda tough if you're unarmed, but I'm with ya on that.

Oh snap. Check this Pattonism out: "It seems to me a certainty that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of the Arab women are the outstanding causes for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly as he was around the year 700, while we have been developing." Patton knew his shit. EDIT: Two more good ones "The pacifist actually refuses to defend what defends him; his country. In the final analysis this is the most basic immoral position." "It is very easy for ignorant people to think that success in war may be gained by the use of some wonderful invention rather than by hard fighting and superior leadership."
-
The real Patton is far more interesting than the fake Patton: http://www.pattonhq.com/unknown/chap13.html A great military leader would be a very good thing right now. EDIT: This is long, but many of these are outstanding: There is nothing more pathetic and futile than a general who lives long enough to explain a defeat. Success in war depends on the 'golden rules of war'; speed, simplicity, and boldness. The enemy is as ignorant of the situation as are we. You are not beaten until you admit it. You don't have to hurry, you have to run like hell. War is the only place where a man lives. The flag is to the patriot what the cross is to the Christian. Do your duty as you see it, and damn the consequences. It is the unconquerable soul of man and not the nature of the weapon he uses which insures victory. Lack of orders is no excuse for inaction. Anything done vigorously is better than nothing done tardily. Aviation cannot take prisoners nor hold ground. A tank which stops to fire, gets hit. A good solution applied with vigor now is better than a perfect solution applied ten minutes later. We can conquer only by attacking. Speed and ruthless violence on the beaches is vital. There must be no hesitation in debarking. To linger on the beaches is fatal. Officers must assert themselves by example and by voice. There is no 'approved' solution to any tactical situation. There is only one tactical principle which is not subject to change. It is, "To use the means at hand to inflict the maximum amount of wounds, death, and destruction on the enemy in the minimum amount of time." In case of doubt, ATTACK! We must remember that victories are not gained solely by selfless devotion. To conquer, we must destroy our enemies. We must not only die gallantly, we must kill devastatingly. The faster and more effectively we kill, the longer we will live to enjoy the priceless fame of conquerors. Battle is the most magnificent competition in which a human being can indulge. It brings out all that is best; it removes all that is base. It is easy to die for nothing, one should die for something. The more senior the officer, the more time he has to go to the front. As long as you attack them, they cannot find the time to attack you. A pint of sweat saves a gallon of blood. One continues to learn about war by practicing war. The soldier is the Army. No Army is better than it's soldiers. Never stop until you have gained the top or the grave. The world has no use for a defeated soldier and nothing too good for a victor. Never stop being ambitious. You have but one life, live it to the fullest of glory and be willing to pay any price. Genius is an immense capacity for taking pains. Always do more than is required of you. It is better to live in the limelight for a year than in the wings forever. Fame never yet found a man who waited to be found. Everything is a 'final heat'. By perseverance, and study, and eternal desire, any man can become great. Do not regard what you do only as 'preparation' for doing the same thing more fully or better at some later time. Nothing is ever done twice. There is no next time. This is of special application to war. There is but one time to win a battle or a campaign. It must be won the first time. There is but one international law; the best Army! We will have no real Army until we have universal service. In war, death is incidental; loss of time is criminal. War means fighting and fighting means killing. If a man thinks war long enough, it is bound to have a good effect on him. Punishment is not for the benefit of the sinner, it is for the salvation of his comrades. There are more tired Corps and Division commanders than there are tired Corps and Divisions. Fatigue makes cowards of us all. Men in condition do not tire. Cowardice is a disease and it must be checked before it becomes epidemic. Haste and speed are not synonymous. The true objective of armor is enemy infantry and artillery; and above all else, his supply installations and command centers. You must never halt because some other unit is stuck. If you push on, you will relieve the pressure on the adjacent unit and it will accompany you. The sole purpose of the cannon on the tank is to let the tank get into where it can use it's machine gun to kill the enemy. The unleavened bread of knowledge will sustain life, but it is dull fare unless it is leavened with the yeast of personality. To be a successful soldier, you must know history. Like wine, accounts of valor mellow with age; until Achilles dead 3000 years stands peerless. Many soldiers are led to faulty ideas of war by knowing too much about too little. War is an art and as such it is not susceptible of explanation by fixed formulae. In peace, the scholar flourishes. In war, the soldier dies. So it comes about that we view our soldiers through the eyes of scholars and attribute to them scholarly virtues. The pacifist actually refuses to defend what defends him; his country. In the final analysis this is the most basic immoral position. Throughout history wars have been lost because of armies not crossing rivers. An army is like a piece of cooked spaghetti. You can't push it, you have to pull it after you. War is simple, direct, and ruthless. It takes a simple, direct, and ruthless man to wage it. War is a killing business. You must spill the enemy's blood or they will spill yours. The greatest privilege of citizenship is to be able to freely bear arms under one's country's flag. All men are afraid in battle. The coward is the one who lets his fear overcome his sense of duty. Go until the last shot is fired and the last drop of gasoline is gone. Then go forward on foot. The hardest thing a general has to do is to wait for the battle to start after all of the orders have been given. Americans do not surrender. Never make excuses whether or not it is your fault. If brevity is the soul of wit, then repetition is the heart of instruction. The important thing in any organization is the creation of a soul, which is based on pride, in the unit. Re-grouping is the curse of war and it is a great boon to the enemy. It may be of interest to future generals to realize that one makes plans to fit the circumstances, and does not try to create circumstances to fit plans. The only thing to do when a son of a bitch looks cross-eyed at you is to beat the hell out of him right then and there. There is nothing democratic about war. It is a straight dictatorship. The use of force to attain the end desired. As long as man exists, there will be war. The only way to avoid trouble is to have the best Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The old "good moslem, bad moslem" argument. Well, you are ignoring the reality that these guys are VERY POPULAR in islamic countries. It's not a small minority, like the number of Americans who think that Tim McVeigh was a good guy, or the number of skinheads. It's more akin to the number of people who think that the guys who put together the Boston Tea Party were right. Osama Bin Laden is George Washington in the muslim world. And if Jews blew up the biggest building in the country, then yeah. Your analogy would make sense. No offense to any of you white breads, but I understand a whole lot more about those fuckers than you do. I've lived there, and virtually my entire extemded family has escaped to the west to get away from those morons. Islamisn is WORSE than Communism or Nazism, BY FAR. Godwin's Law. I lose. tongue.gif -
Do you mean that they have been mixed with a quantity of an inert substance in order to reduce their concentration? If you think that simply having power adjustable, heated leather seats qualifies a car as "luxury", then you might be deluded. Why is it that people take offense that a descriptive adjective might not apply to their car, btw? Calling it "luxury" or "non-luxury" is not a validation or condemnation of it's worth or value. To me, a luxury car has a very particular set of features and purpose. Fine quality materials, some degree of craftsmanship, comfort without compromise, and elegant stying would be part of the definition. Rolls, Bentley, Maybach, some Jaguars, and Cadillac's Sixteen show car all fit that. Before anyone cries about price, luxury cars aren't cheap, which is a key part of the point. I mean, if I tried to call my Supra an "exotic", there would be (and should be) howls of laughter. I could argue that it's performance meets or exceeds some true exotics, that it's production numbers make it as rare or more rare than some exotics, that it's stying was wildly different and groundbreaking in 1994, that it is better engineered than many exotics, or a number of other cases. It would be pure bullshit, however. It's a Toyota, with an engine shared by half a dozen more common Toyotas, it wasn't expensive enough to be exotic, and while it holds it's value well, is hardly in high demand by car collectors. That doesn't make my car any less than what it is, or demean it's value. Just because I like the car doesn't make it something it's not, however.

In other news, Chris Green of Columbus announced that he is selling the Brooklyn Bridge, due to rising maintenance costs. "I've tried everything", Green said. "Duct tape, JB weld, zip ties, but it's just falling apart. I might as well own a DSM!"

Man allegedly in al-Qaida plot to bomb mall in Ohio

I have heard that the mall in question was Tuttle Mall. Also, there is a much simpler solution than the Patriot Act. Taking freedoms away from American citizens is wrong, but since nearly all of the terrorists and purported terrorists are non-Americans, I see nothing wrong with the following: - Ban all immigration and visas from moslem countries - Deny citizenship applications to persons from moslem countries - Immediately track down and deport anyone from a moslem country who is here illegally - Use currently legal means to track the contacts and travels of any US citizen with Al Qaida ties - Charge any American citizen who has trained in an Al Qaida camp with treason/sedition. Charge any non-citizen who has such training with espionage. - Database the history, activites and rhetoric of every mosque in the US. Determine where the most radical groups are. We are at war. During WWII, we did not allow Germans or Japanese citizens to come to the US. We did not put up with American citizens speaking out in favor the Nazis or the Japanese, or having contacts with them. Now, this isn't World War II. In many ways, it is more serious. September 11 was not some freak occurance, and major terrorist attacks can happen again here. Legal rights are irrelevant when we are talking about spies and saboteurs, which is what a terrorist is. "Enemy combatant" as defined by international law refers to a UNIFORMED soldier serving in a NATIONAL MILITARY. Spies, saboteurs and agents are NOT protected. During the Cold War, despite the fact that no hostilites were declared, both the west and the communist bloc executed spies. The reds were a bit nastier, of course, but everyone knew what was at stake. I am dumbfounded that we talk about legal rights for terrorists, or wring our hands over Guantanamo Bay. I am going to repeat this one more time for clarity -- in the history of warfare, spies, saboteurs and agents HAVE NO RIGHTS. They are not covered by any treaty, convention, compact or law.
