Was it a dash unit or a PNP? I have car kits in my boat, Avalanche, Formula, and work van, so I just move my same unit around to all of them. I'd go fucking postal if someone stole my Sirius; it's on about 10 hours a day!! Stern + Bubba = why the hell would someone want XM. I feel your pain not having it; when I was delivering the Mustang to its new owner, I had no CD's on me, and had to suffer through testicle radio. You don't know how much you appreciate having Sirius until you have to go without it!

- 05/06 GTO. It's NOTHING like a Grand-Am. Hell, my mom is looking for a car and likes the look of them, and I'm a Pontiac fan, but I specifically told her NOT to get one. Hell, I bet the GTO and Grand Am don't share a single part. - C5. Maybe I'm a little more rugged about what I'll daily drive than some, but a C5 IMO makes a very nice daily driver. I don't really like the G35/350Z. EVO's styling is too boy-racerish for my tastes, no cruise control (a MUST IMO for a daily driver), and the interior isn't what it should be for a low-mid 30k new car now days. The TT screams "gay man behind the wheel" to me. C230 is nifty, as is the 3-series. Though nothing wrong w/ the IS300, when you sit back-to-back in that then any other Lexus of the same vintage, it just really feels like the poor man's Lexus. Nothing really wrong with the car, and tends to be significantly cheaper, but that thought always stood out to me. But I had this same issue last winter. Though my budget was a little less, there were only two choice for me: get a C5 and fix my Jimmy that I didn't really want, but had to have to tow my boat, or say no to the C5 daily driver and get a truck. Let's just say the Avalanche has proven to be a GREAT purchase, very comfortable, and is very useful. So in that sense, for 25k, I'd sport an Avalanche.

I spend about $300 there yearly. It hurts.

No really, someone must have experience fixing these.

Drove it 200 miles today, ran fine. Seems to be doing decent on gas too. A/C works as well. I will have it cleaned up and take some pics this week. Edit: I've been working on the car: - Tach/mileage display issue is fixed. Very common problem with Sebrings; dealer charges $500 to fix the problem, but I did the minor repair on the circuit board instead of installing a new cluster; all is good. - Cruise control wasn't working; that's fully repaired now and works great - Power top is missing the driver's side hydraulic cylinder. If I can source one cheap enough, it should be a pretty easy fix. The passenger side is intact, and the pump works.

Yes, you can change it as often as you like. Again, as stated, if the primary car on your policy is your beater, you are likely to save money. During the Formula's downtime, I downgrade it to theft and fire only. If you have a lien on the car, you can still take liability off your policy during the non-driven months. The random BMV check is easy to pass. They always send insurance cards in 6 month incriments. Right after they send the card, take off the extra coverage. They'll send a new card for the new coverage. But if the BMV checks, just send the old card. They aren't going to look into it any further than seeing you have a vaild card. All they care about seeing is a card with coverage on the date they are requesting.

Man, that sucks. Hope you have your insurance paid up, as I guarantee you'll never see a dime out of the hispanic guy that hit you. Buddy of mine down in FL had a Mexican broad hit his Camaro. No insurance or license, imagine that, and in the end he got screwed while she basically got a slap on the wrist.

Have a quad motor that needs some MINOR repair. Two banjo bolts that go into the motor were tightened too tightly, stripping out the threads...causing them to leak oil (one leaks BADLY). Just need to pull the bolts, helicoil the holes, and toss the bolts back in, WITHOUT getting metal shavings into the motor. If you are experienced with doing something like this, please PM me with an approximate price (obviously nothing is firm until you see it in person).

My god, that would have to hurt!!!!

My boat keeps eating starter solenoids....HELP!!!
Nitrousbird replied to Nitrousbird's topic in Tech and Tips
I haven't touched the boat since I pulled it out of the water, and won't have time until next week. Way too many other things going on. I'll definitely look into the wiring, though. -
Car is now GONE! Check out the other car I'm selling: http://www.columbusracing.com/showthread.php?t=27875 I'm locking this thread down now.

Well, I JUST picked this car up (as in 2 hours ago, part of a trade deal for my Mustang). I know jack shit about this car. Clean title, 137k on the clock. No rust on the body, front bumper cover has a nice scuff on it and a small hole in it. Looks like all the lights/signals work, all the windows work. Power portion of the top doesn't work, but goes up/down easily manually. The tach/mileage display doesn't work for the first couple minutes you drive it, then works fine from then on (from what I saw and what the guy told me) Drives VERY nicely on the highway, smooth, no problem. Slight shimmy at slower speeds; feels like the tires need balanced. Tires look to be in good shape. Front rotors probably need turned, they aren't bad though...if I were keeping it, I probably wouldn't even bother. ABS light is on and stays on. No SES lights, though. Engine seemed to run smoothly; tranny seemed to shift fine. No missing or anything, goes WOT fine. Seemed to get decent gas mileage. Car needs a cleaning badly, inside and out. Otherwise, I know very little about these cars, and have no intentions of keeping it to find out. It's dark out, so I have no pics of it, and may not get around to posting any for a couple of days. I'm putting this up here first to give you guys first shot at it; once I get some time (read: next week) to do some cleaning on her, then I'll post her elsewhere, and throw up some pics. Price: $3500. For the record, that's BELOW the KBB Private Party value for this car in this condition.

My boat keeps eating starter solenoids....HELP!!!
Nitrousbird replied to Nitrousbird's topic in Tech and Tips
It's not the linkage. If the boat is in gear, the relay won't even click...that's what it cuts power to. I have a repair manual for the engine/drive, but honestly those are better for general info and torque specs than for troubleshooting any significant issue. This last solenoid went out on the water today, so I haven't had a chance to pull the starter out and yell at it yet. -
Wasn't so bad today out on the lake, though the water was like bathwater. As long as the boat was moving, it was pretty damn nice out...great temperature. Now at work...ugh, that's a whole other story.

The boat: 89 Sea Ray 160, Alpha 1 outdrive, 3.0L Mercrusier I4. What's new: - 2004 3.0L crate motor, brand new crate motor (was sitting in a wharehouse for a while it seems) - 12 3/4" flywheel, required to put a new motor in an older boat - Rebuilt carb, cleaned fuel pump/fuel lines/fuel return - Brand new battery, new relay that feeds the starter solenoid, brand new starter w/ new solenoid. The problem. Used the old starter for a while, worked great, had to start the boat (read: all the new motor stuff) a number of times without issue. Then it wouldn't start; jumping the solenoid would start it. Toss on a new solenoid, same issue. Then we noticed the relay died, replaced that. Then it would click again, but still not start. Then jumping it would cause the starter motor to spin, but not engage the flywheel. I return the solenoid, and get a brand new starter online, a newer style at that (includes a new solenoid). Toss it in, works GREAT. Start it about 8 times out of the water, works great. Take the boat out today, start it on the water about 5 times. Try number 6, same deal....click click click (click being I hear the relay, but not the solenoid trying). Jump the solenoid on the water, and right away it won't engage the flywheel. If you beat on the solenoid, it would at first start and engage (without jumping the terminals) for a second, the stop. Jumping the terminals would never allow it to engage the flywheel. Now what? The starter has a warranty, and I should be able to get another one. But I DO NOT want this to happen again. What are we missing here?? Alternator is working fine (was rebuilt a few years ago, probably has 30 hours on it, and the voltage gauge is fine when it is running), and when the starter works, it works perfectly. I never seem to be low on juice, so it's not that issue. I have all the ground connections hooked up, and they are clean. But WTF is frying these solenoids?

Trim that bush. Freaking jungle down there!!!

2lbs at 21 weeks = rat dog. Chris posted the correct picture! But doggie insurance...hmm. Dexter is 16 now, and about do for his yearly checkup (though this one shouldn't require any major shots, and he isn't having any issues). Might have to look into this.

It ran all of last year. I just never drove it to work, and probably never will. It would be running now, but plans changed in favor of something very different, which I'm still gathering funds for.

Am I the only person that thinks this sounds like a HUGE waste of money??

Wow, for a second there I almost thought he typed $10,000 into that Supra, with a 200 RWHP goal.

I'm seriously going to hell for LMAO at this

LOL, though it probably is fake, I wouldn't go by the information posted by random people on You Tube. -
