I killed a huge ground hog this weekend with the 15-22. I've seen him around before, but never bothered me so I've left him alone. Well Sat. morning I look out and he's digging right in the middle of the backyard about 30 yards off the porch. I hit him in the head with the first shot and he was done.

It would be better without the E-Gear. I think those transmissions are fragile as it is so I don't know how well they would hold up with that amount of power increase.

Those are Gods tears and too pure for fungus and mold.

Best is early morning. I've been told watering at night can promote fungus and mold.

I just went through this too. Bought a house that had been sitting for 2 years after being built. Lawn was terrible. Last fall/year I didn't do much other than cut it. What I did was in the early spring -Weed and Feed (The weeds hadn't started coming up yet) -Aerate -Over seed -For the bare spots I mixed seed with potting soil. The potting soil has a ton of nutrients to help the seed grow. -3-4 weeks later I weed and feed again. -Constantly over seeding before it rains. Also every weekend I walk around and hit and individual weeds/clover trying to grow with my hand pump sprayer. The problem with my yard is the empty lot next door is filled with head high weeds and all that shit blows into my yard. Until the lot is developed it's going to be a battle. I also back onto a forest so I have all those weeds trying o creep into my yard. I hope to build a mulch bed across the back to form a barrier. It should be really nice by next year. It already is way better than when I bought it. It's probably the 3rd nicest yard in the neighborhood. Lots of complements from the neighbors. It's nice to see some actual progress being made as the bare spots fill in.

If it was me. Clearly unarmed they would get a warning and be told to get on the ground with hands/arms spread out while I called the cops from my cell. If someone comes into my house armed they arn't getting a warning. Giving them a warning is enough time for them to strike first. Every situation is different though. If someone kicks in the door it might require a quicker decision to take action. If it's dark you need to take the time to identify what you might be shooting at. What if there's multiple people? So it all depends. I'm sure the LEO crew has better insight into this. Then there's the fact that if you have no training you really have no idea how you will respond in this kind of situation. IE=Me. I'm looking at enrolling in the CCW course here first and then maybe a few other training course as well.

Wow a home invasion is scary. I'm pretty paranoid about this. Not a bad neighborhood I live in, but I'm down on the end of a dark cul-de-sac by myself. I'm usually within 5-10 ft. of a firearm. Shotgun in the bedroom, handgun in the livingroom/kitchen, and several rifles and shotguns upstairs in the open safe (while I'm home). I don't want to use any of them on someone, but I will defend myself if someone breaks in. There's really no way to run away in my house anyway. This reminds me I need to change my outdoor lights to motion sensitive.

.22lr is a great defense round... If you're getting attacked by a army of squirrels.

That's cool. I've shot plenty of 10/22's. Very good gun. It will shoot whatever you feed it. I enjoy the m&p 15-22 more though. Just feels way different than the 10/22 and is more fun for me to shoot. When I went to the range my buddies wanted to shoot my M&P. Probably to give their wallet a break from shooting 5.56.

Yeah the decent ones are $400+. At that point might as well get an entire rifle. The dedicated .22lr rifles also have the correct twist ratio.

To cheap to get the real deal? I think 80% of the people I've seen have atleast one real AR, most have mutliple AR's. I plan on building an AR soon, but I wanted something that I could shoot in the backyard. I was going to just get the .22lr upper, but thought why not get a dedicated rifle for the cost of just the conversion upper. 500 bucks is a lot for a plinker so I wouldn't say someone was cheap if they owned one. Now if you are cashed strapped, get the 10/22. It's a very reliable/accurate firearm. I definitely enjoy shooting my mp 15-22 over a 10/22 though. They feel completely different.

The 15-22 is definitely not for self defense. I mean it's better than nothing. I'm sure a bunch of center mass hits would put someone down eventually, but it's not as effective as a shotgun or larger caliber weapon. The 22lr is pretty much just for target practice, and hunting small animals.

I have one and I love it. Great for 25-30 yard plinking in the backyard. I also can get pretty good groupings at 100 yards when I go to the range. Some guys have had FTE problems with it, but after about 400 rounds I haven't had any FTE's or FTF. It is picky on what type of ammo you use. I stick to Federal bulk. It may not be as accurate as a bolt action .22lr or a ruger 10-22, but it's more accurate than I can shoot. If it's an older version you might have to send it in to get upgraded with the latest changes. Mine's an older serial number and I haven't any problems though. It seems hit or miss. Some people don't like the fact it's an all polymer upper and lower, but I like that it's really light. Compared to all the .22lr Tatical style rifles it's one of the best. I've heard good things about the Sig 522 also. Stay away from the Colt M4 .22lr. Very unreliable, bad iron sights and cheaply made. The S&W probably fuctions as close to it's big brother over the other guns. The Colts bolt release is fake and it's difficult to tear down. The S&W is very easy to tear down and clean just like an A/R. It's an expensive plinker, but in the end you save a ton of money over 5.56.
