  1. Ah, good to know. I'll probably stick with my $6 sunshade for now then. :lolguy:
  2. I'm not sure what she quoted me for the windshield was Pinnacle. Whatever she recommended was only 75% though, which is apparently legal. I have a fold out windshield reflector thing that works fine when I'm parked, so I'm not too sold on the windshield yet. I'm sure it would probably help keep it a little cooler when I'm on the move though. I'll definitely get some more info when I'm in for the sides.
  3. I called Quality Window Tint on Saturday since they seem to be the go-to guys in the area. Apparently they are pretty popular because they're booked up right now, but I made an appointment for the 3rd. After talking to them I definitely plan to go with the 35% Pinnacle. I asked about windshield tint and it would be around $150 for the windshield alone, so I decided to skip that for now and maybe I'll look at a sample while I'm in there for the side windows.
  4. Vent visors may be good for keeping it from happening again. In this heat a small amount of moisture can be a problem if you have no air circulation. A friend of mine moved to Florida last year and they only use his Jeep to hit the beach occasionally. It goes unused for a couple weeks at a time. Since its always hot there if there's even a slightly damp spot on the floor mat or some moist sand it will smell like an old towel within a day or two. Vent visors completely cured this problem because, obviously, he can leave the windows cracked.
  5. Id do it for a bottle of this beer... http://www.internetwines.com/rws28347.html :gabe:
  6. You're only saying that because your Landrover is Jack Hannah'd Out. Props on starting the next color/contrast craze though. :gabe:
  7. That's what I'm thinking. Between my old-man driving style and the light-ish colored interior I think I should be fine with 35%. Ultimately I would have liked to match the rear, but I think that's pushing my luck too much. Soundls like it's definitely worth paying for the good stuff though. I get the feeling most people/cops wouldn't even notice a Cherokee anyway, even though it is an awesome super-fast space ship.:gabe: Thanks to all for the opinions/experience. I'll have to make my final decision and get something done shortly. It's hot as balls out lately.
  8. My interior is primarily tan with a black dash and some sweet ass burlwood trim. I'm really considering 35% now, though I think I'd feel better about being 100% legit. :fa:
  9. Post or PM email address.
  10. This is mainly why I'm a scaredy bitch about it not being legal. I'm always in compliance when carrying, but I'd just rather avoid having to deal with a traffic stop and the possibility of being hassled (I know a few CCW guys that have been).
  11. I'd like to tint the front side windows in the Cherokee, partly for looks I guess but mainly to block some of the heat. Another of Ohio's gay laws limits those windows to 50% and that seems really light to me. I'm fairly certain that the factory tint on the back windows is 20%, so I know I can't legally match that but I'm surprised they don't allow 30-35% at least. So, the issue is that I have found alot of info on the net claiming that some of the "cheap" tints supposedly block a fairly low percentage of heat transfer unless you go very dark. "Premium" tint companies claim ~50% heat blocking from their 50%, which I would have assumed would be true of any tint that blocks 50% of the light. I never realized there were so many different tint materials on the market - metallic, nonmetallic, ceramic, etc. If I can really block 50% of the heat coming in with legal tint I think it may actually be worth doing, but I feel like I'm being reeled in by marketing disguised as real science. Secondarily, I know alot of people seem to get away with 20% or darker but I drive this thing everywhere and would rather not be hassled by the man. I know a guy that recently got 35% on his side windows and he's been pulled over twice already.
  12. Yeah, must not be indexed in the search on the App Store yet. Direct linking definitely works though.
  13. 107,xxx Grey on Grey is a bit hard to read.
  14. Former Ashvillian here too. I certainly wouldn't call it predominantly black unless it has changed alot in the last few years. Whitehall I could see though. Not sure why it matters though because she's going to get shit from all races. Hide yo' kids.
  15. Yeah, I guess that's more like a truck at least. Still unibody but has a bed. The closed cooling system isn't awful really but is easily swapped to open. I always talked about swapping the 90 to open if it gave me trouble but it never did. I didn't notice that Geoff mentioned good fuel mileage in the criteria. I don't know what your current truck is, but a Cherokee may not be vast improvement in that department (~20 MPG hwy). Probably no worse than a Blazer or similar though.
  16. Also, there are countless Cherokees on CL or various forums in that price range if that meets your criteria (again, not a truck exactly). They tend to be very dependable vehicles.
  17. That's what I was thinking, though I understand not wanting to buy something that will need work immediately. Here's a local 93 Legacy L w. reasonable miles. Typical shitty CL ad without a pic though: http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/2484898016.html High mileage 99 Outback: http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/2455353674.html High Mileage 98 outback. Actual pics on this one (fucking CL:dumb:): http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/2443736850.html Supposedly all of these "run well".
  18. Dell business class (Vostro) w/ a larger battery. Adds more weight obviously, but if that's not of concern it's worth it. They are built strong and are spill resistant. I can tell you from personal experience that computers do not like to drink Killian's. I haven't tried it with this one though. Just be careful how you option it out. You can spend alot of money on basic upgrades that aren't really worth it. I have a Vostro 1500 with a 9-cell battery. It's 4-5 years old now but still easily does anything I need to work remotely. I typically get about 5-6 hours of mixed usage on a full charge. I used to get around 7 when it was new.
  19. Cherokee (not really a sedan or a truck though). Maybe an older Legacy or Outback? I initially thought DSM too, but I assume you intend to get something reliable.:gabe:
  20. Mine is set up now too. Adding the CR group. I'm the guy with the short last name that sounds delicious. :gabe:
  21. Fixed (though I'm sure that's what you meant). Either way, they make a hell of a winter vehicle (esp. w/ NP242) or simply messing around off-road. GLWS
  22. As much as I try not to be an Apple fag, I have to agree with this. :fa: I have a rooted Nook Color and for the price it's hard (impossible?) to beat, but the iPad has a much simpler interface with more support. It's probably a better choice for a kid unless it's not in the budget, though I realize the thread title specifically mentions Android. I like the Android platform but it's just not yet as polished as the iOS in my opinion.
