  1. We need some free magazines at the new place. Anyone know of any more like this?
  2. How long did you have just the springs before you bought struts? Did your struts go bad/weren’t damping well enough or did you get new ones for piece of mind?
  3. And most of the time you can do a minor spring upgrade and be fine (lower and a little stiffer). You've bought into marketing bullshit. I also agree 100% with what BAM614 said, except for I think that percentage may by higher. Any coil over that's worth buying is $$$$ and you really only need to race your car/wring that last little bit out of it. At that point it will be hell to drive on the street. Most people (even on this board) wouldn't even be able to feel the difference between one setting to the next on an adjustable strut. Let alone know exactly where to set the compression and rebound to get the 'best' handling out of a car.
  4. Moding your expesnive daily=many more problems than moding your cheap toy. Getting to work every day is great. Who cares if your (cheap) toy happens to be down for a few months or more? If you can afford an expensive toy and daily, great; if not, have a nice daily and a cheap toy. Who wants their expensive car sitting in the garage most of the time and they have to drive a 1k beater to and from work? It's all about what you want and what will bring you the most enjoyment. I personally enjoy driving my hour round trip with a six speed and heated leather and have a DSM I have to fix rather than a Corvette to drive a few days a month and an early 90's Honda to drive to and from work.
  5. No shit Joe. I know there are probably plenty of people on here getting paid shit for a shit job. Why not get paid well for a shit job (one that really isn't that bad if you like hard work)? I went to school for a reason, but if I hadn't I'd definitely be interested in this. But I kind of like hard, physical, labor so maybe I'm just 'weird'.
  6. Enough to be as big as Anthony was in a year? On topic... Welcome to the board. Nice car, I love the way they look. Thought about buying one when I was looking for a car, but drove the S4 and fell in love before I got a chance to test drive one.
  7. I've been in traffic court before where people tried to say that was why they were speeding and it usually doesn't fly. Only time I've heard the judge sympathize is when they said it was a work vehicle (usually work truck/van). And then the judge said, "Well how do you know this now but didn't before? Has the company taken it anywhere to get this fixed, with proof of it?" You’d be more likely to get let off by a cop if this was the case than to get out of a ticket in court. Although it would probably be a pretty easy way to get it dropped to a no points ticket in court. I’m assuming saying both of these that the person wasn’t blatantly speeding. You better know if you are doing 80+mph in 65 just by the way it feels. That’s the same way the cop or judge is probably going to look at it. Ignorance is never an excuse for breaking laws.
  8. You mean something like... umm, I don't know... Prison?
  9. Wouldn't that be (drastically?) different due to the pressures at the time it would have been melting? Also to a lesser extent with the atmosphere that it's in? Just wondering, I'm defintely sure you know more about this stuff than I do so I'm wondering. I tried to search google and I couldn't find any phase change graphs (for temp versus pressure) for any type of aluminium or an alloy.
  10. OH MY GOD!!!! I ALMOST DROWNED IN THE FOAM!!!
  11. Ahahhahahaha, I can't believe you clicked on that!
  12. Because you said "Damn, travel this area everyday, guess I'll have to do the good ol' 55." And the whole entire strech pertaining to this thread is a 65mph zone.
  13. Tossing cigarettes out of the window is littering, end of story. Having it hit someone’s car is just inconsiderate, end of story. I don't throw my trash out of the window. It's something I'm actually anal about because I like to try to take of the environment. Taking care of the environment isn't just about 'saving the trees and whales'. It's about doing what we can to make this world a better place for all of us to live in. Littering causes trash to be built up on the sides of roads, ditches, and in parking lots. It's a visual pollutant to every human who sees it. Not to mention what it actually does to the ecosystem. Anyone who knows anything about this realizes that it's a compromise of what we want to do, and what we need to do (even the tree hugging hippies and the oil tycoons). While I don't believe that all people who smoke are weak, I do believe it's a much worse drug than just about any other legal drug (that you don’t need a prescription to get). I like to drink, so do you Berto. Some could consider that a weakness, but neither of us need to drink. But some people do ‘need’ to drink; these people are called alcoholics. When I get home and say “Damn, today sucked, I really need a beer”, it’s not like when Ben gets home and say “Damn, today was stressful, I really need a cigarette”. That’s because one person is addicted to that thing and another isn’t. I’d venture to say that the percentage of people who drink that are addicted to it is very much less than the percentage of people who smoke and are addicted to it. As anecdotal evidence, I can’t think of one person in my personal life that is addicted to alcohol, but I know plenty who drink. I know plenty of people who smoke cigarettes, but only a few of them smoke on an occasional basis. I can, and very well may, go this whole (work) week without drinking. I might have a beer or two one evening or two during the week. It just depends. I can say without a doubt (unless he decides to quit cold turkey again sometime today), that Ben will have a few cigarettes tonight, and the next night, and the night after that. And if he doesn’t (decides to quit), that it will have negative physiological and psychological effects on him. Just as if I were addicted to alcohol it would on my body and psyche. I don’t think that any of this necessarily means that one group is weaker (or has more addictive personalities) than the other (if you could separate them into two groups). I think that this just means that one drug (cigarettes) is more addictive than the other (alcohol). Now if we were talking about caffeine and cigarettes, it would be a much closer race. On a further note, if one person has a more addictive personality than the next, does that necessarily mean that person is weaker? FYI, for all of you who might be ‘morons’: Main Entry: en·vi·ron·ment Pronunciation: in-'vI-r&(n)-m&nt, -'vI(-&)r(n)- Function: noun 1 : the circumstances, objects, or conditions by which one is surrounded 2 a : the complex of physical, chemical, and biotic factors (as climate, soil, and living things) that act upon an organism or an ecological community and ultimately determine its form and survival …. Main Entry: pol·lute Pronunciation: p&-'lüt Function: transitive verb …. 2 b : to contaminate (an environment) especially with man-made waste Main Entry: 1lit·ter Pronunciation: 'li-t&r Function: noun …. 4 a : trash, wastepaper, or garbage lying scattered about <trying to clean up the roadside litter>
  14. You said if you got the million dollars you'd still buy a Viper.
  15. Great thread, keep the suggestions coming. I need some renters insurance too. Anyone ever had the unfortunate experience to have to use it and have anything good or bad to say about a particular company?
  16. Oh, I defintely got the DVR. That was the key thing through all of this! It's the 625 box, the one they are giving out free now.
  17. Thanks for all of the replies! I found out with Dish yesterday that you don't have to have a phone line but you lose the interactive stuff (weather via some menues, crap like that), and they charge you $5/month. Just a bullshit charge but it's cheaper than a useless landline. I ordered dish yesterday and they will be out Sunday! We are going to get the 120 package because it has everything we want and only one box that can send out to a second TV. Afaik it can output across the whole wiring network and watch it on several TV’s, just you can only tune to one channel on any of those TV’s. Still don't know what we are going to do about internet. Ben called Aldephia and for some reason it looks like half of the apartment complex can get Digital Cable and Internet and half of it can only get Digital Cable?!? We just happen to be in the half that is only cable and no internet. They have no idea why and are coming out to check on it today. Hopefully we can get that because it will be cheaper and faster than DSL. Again, thanks for all of the replies!
  18. Lol, a month longer than me. Yeah, I think you've been on here for long enough.
  19. That's why it's great that I'm working at the R&D center removed about an hour and a half from HR, purchasing, the factory. It's great.
  20. What's really funny was me and Ben (other Ben so you retards don't get confused) were talking about dream cars last night. He was saying his was a Viper. I told him he'd change his mind when I showed him that episode and he did. It, or something very similar, is on my list of 'to own' cars in my life. Bad Ass car.

    temp test

Ok, that's what I thought. People in this thread were confusing me.
  22. Oh, I wasn't saying the dish. AFAIK most all of the modern dishes don't have a problem with multiple recievers. Some (if not all?) of the DVR's for satalite that have two tunners can output the second tunner (or something off of the Hard Drive) out onto your existing cable system. So I'd have an RF remote for the second tunner in my bedroom and be able to connect my TV straight to the existing wiring and watch/record stuff on the DVR box sitting in the living room. I know the Dish box is like that but wasn't sure about the Direct TV box.
  23. I try not to get too off topic for the most part... I'm done with this thread as far as she is concerned because I don't want to ruin this guys intro post.
  24. So whenever we want to spend anymore than $1k we need to go up and do a proposal at the main place. We already have a 4wd version of an suv and we need the 2wd version of it. Won't/can't go into why but that's what we need. We developed car parts for a big manufacturer and that's it so the people associated with this job so know something about cars right, or at least eventually learn it? They asked they guy if we could convert the existing suv to 2wd by switching or splicing a few wires. He said definitely not and they asked him to confirm it with some higher up engineers here. Some people are born dumb, others try. These people try really hard.
