  1. Says he's not serious; writes a book to prove it
  2. PBR2DF should start a new blog called 'What car shouldn't I buy.' You can make some suggestions about what you want in a car, he says what you should(n't) buy and by process of elimination you can find the perfect car.
  3. I was going to say the S4 seems like a no brainer too, until you said you hate the HMI. Anyone know how long have they made the CTS-V sport? Seems like it could be a great car since you don't want the V8 supercharged power levels of the full blown V.
  4. Do you want RWD/AWD or is FWD ok? It's dissimilar to what you posted, but what about an Accord Hybird? Everyone I know who's driven one and pretty much all of the reviews rave about the car and how much they like it even though they 'shouldn't'. It's rated at something liek 45/45 and actually gets it, which is amazing for a car that size. 0-60 in 7 seconds and 48mpg http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2014/02/review-2014-honda-accord-hybrid-with-video/#more-707986 I like the Genesis sedan suggestions. I drove on a few months ago and liked it. Seems like a great value proposition.
  5. Did I get stuck behind you in there the other day?
  6. DJ, I believe they made some riffle hunting OK this year in Ohio.
  7. Yeah, their GOD prices are great... otherwise they seem a little on the expensive side compared to other places with the same product. I got a growler of Enjoy By for something like $11 or $12. Felt like I was ripping the place off.
  8. Microbreweries usually only have the capability to bottle/can a few of their beers. Or even if they could do it, they won't do it on their smaller run beers because it just doesn't make economic sense. But they can and do put those beers in Kegs. So what I like it for is the ability to get beers to my house that I would otherwise have to go to a bar for. But that doesn't fully explain why they've exploded because that's probably not a majority of the beers people are buying in growlers. I do like that you can taste it before you can buy it at most places (for a small fee, which I think has more to do with Ohio laws than making a profit). I'm down to go to the Daily Growler... after a week and a half since I'm out of town on business. I'm off the 2 weeks around Christmas/New years so I can do basically any time around then. I'd like to go visit some of the newer breweries I haven't been to yet also if some people are down.
  9. I'd love that Beer one if it wasn't clearly mimicking the Budweiser logo.
  10. Streaming boxes are getting really cheap for those that don't want or 'need' a gaming machine. IDK if you get more/better on one or the other. I know the picture quality of the built in apps in our new TV blows away the PC I previously built for the same purpose. I would think the streaming boxes & XBox are similar to our TV.
  11. Up until now most (maybe all?) hybrids cancel regen during an ABS event because it's more difficult to control the 2 systems in concert. Also due to the infrequency of an ABS event there is essentially 0 benefit the customer and maybe even more importantly there is no benefit to the fuel economy ratings. But you can do some really cool things controlling wheel slip with the electric motors that's more difficult/impossible to do with an ICE motor or conventional brakes so it is, or will start to show up in cars. The Volt is a few years old now so I imagine if falls into the former category. So it's probably mostly just crappy (low rolling resistance) tires and poor tuning. In the case Phil cited it's probably an issue with the fact that if does cancel regen, but the brake by wire system isn't correctly increasing conventional brake pressure to properly compensate. In a light braking event, if it was doing all of the vehicle braking by regen and if cancelled it due to an ABS event, but didn't increase the conventional brake pressure the decelration would go to 0. I'm hoping and sure he will chime in since he's felt it and I know he can tell the difference between the 2 situations and I have not actually driven the car.
  12. I am not an accountant Credits take off of what you owe on taxes for the year, regardless of what you had withheld. I believe certain credits can only decrease your tax liability (what you owe) to $0. I also believe this is one of them. So let's day you made $50k and what you should pay totally for the year $6500. You prepaid, had withheld $5500. You would normally owe $1k at filing but your $7500 credit drops what you owe to $0 so you would get back the $5500 you already paid. I believe other things like child tax credits you get no matter how much you paid, or else they would be pointless since you only get them if you make so little you don't owe much in taxes anyways.
  13. That's a nice shot if the new Lexus Mustang grill.
  14. I like it! http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=563&pictureid=7950 Current deck is in yellow, it will stay about where it is. There is a door from the kitchen to the deck on the right side of the deck already. New patio would be green. New garage is in dark blue. Outdoor kitchen in light blue. Left and right sides of the yard are pretty protected by trees & landscaping from neighbors already, but along the back where the red stuff is needs something. Especially since we cut down some old gnarly 'bushes' it's really open to our neighbors directly behind us.
  15. IDK how I forgot about Zillow. They actually have a pretty good app that does geo-location so you can just drive into a hood you want to look around and hit the 'near me' button.
  16. If that's going to be in that 'barn', you should do some of the sliding barn doors for the entrance. I want to redo our deck into an open/lower one with a few steps out of the house, that goes down into some sort of patio with a fire pit. With where that nook in the garage would be, that would put the outdoor kitchen to the right of all of that as you look out of the back door. That plus some landscaping to 'enclose' the backyard sine we are in the city for a little backyard oasis is my ideal setup in my head right now.
  17. I don't know of anything specific, but I'm sure there is a CL/GMaps mash-up for rentals.
  18. That sounds like it could be turned into a really cool indoor/outdoor space? Finish up the inside a bit more. Maybe a pool table & bar in the 'barn' with a patio right outside with a fire pit. Maybe an outdoor kitchen on the side. I want to build a bigger garage down the road but with the space we have to put it, the best idea I can come up with is a 2 car wide, with 1 of the spaces being 2 cars deep. Then in the negative space, put an outdoor kitchen... even further down the road. I'm pretty jelly of that garage. Congrats on the new awesome house!
  19. If you take everything apart and rub the pads and rotors on some concrete, put everything back together and re-bed the pads/rotors together, you should be good to go.
  20. I would normally agree with you, but the thing is, Columbus is getting an influx of young people and lots of infill development is happening. Hopefully it's the push to get serious about mass transit in our city. But at some point, before they really settle down here, they are going to either need a real mass transit system here or move to somewhere that has one. Something to think about for the naysayers; mass transit, the ability to walk, or bike everywhere doesn't preclude you driving everywhere. In fact good city planning allows for all options to be viable options. Maybe you agree with me, maybe you don't. But this doesn't have to be an us against them. Other options being usable options doesn't mean that cars have to be banished.
  21. In this thread, mostly people with no vision.
