  1. Consider that this is the current production Aveo: http://www.chinacartimes.com/wp-content/2007/10/new-chevy-aveo-red.jpg And this is the Beat concept that's been around since 2007: http://media.nextautos.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/04/chevy-beat008.jpg Now so you see where the design came from? I agree that from that angle the front ends look similar, but that Audi isn't even on the market yet.
  2. Agreed. (The door handles will change for production too) The interior looks production ready and similar in style to the Cruze. I really like the look of the gauge cluster. should be a nice rival to the Ford Fiesta.
  3. Yeah, whoever named this car has no idea of its heritage. How dare they defile the Regal nameplate with such crap. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c4/%2790-%2793_Buick_Regal.jpg/800px-%2790-%2793_Buick_Regal.jpg Seriously. The Regal has always been a small-midsize car, with all of them in the last 20 years being FWD. The last Regal GS was a FWD 3.8L S/C family sedan that got less HP and torque than this new one. At least now it's AWD, you get a manual trans, it doesn't ride like a boat, and the seats don't feel like a cheap la-z-boy. We live in a world of CAFE standards, CO2 emissions requirements, and platform sharing (in order to keep costs competitive). They have come out with a genuine performace sedan. Not that it matters what it's called, but I'm sure it will live up to the majestic Regal name that you cherish.
  4. Exactly. It' s out of breath at higher RPM's. It's pushing anywhere from 16-22 psi (depending on what it needs to make the target torque in the ECU)
  5. The turbo spools quickly because it's small and the cam phasing help even more. Here's a dyno plot of the LNF engine in the Cobalt. It makes peak torque from 2000 rpm until almost redline. It's only making a couple ft-lb shy of peak at 1500 rpm. The Regal is tuned for higher torque (295 lb-ft), and my thought's are it will get up and go. Go drive a new Fusion AWD Sport. That car is the same size and it makes 263 HP / 249 lb-ft with a V6. http://archives.media.gm.com/us/powertrain/en/product_services/2010/gmna/HPT%20Library/Ecotec/2010%20Ecotec%2020L%20LNF%20Cobalt%20SS.pdf With a compressor wheel swap guys are putting down around 330HP. (Spools pretty much like stock.)
  6. Consider that the Cobalt/HHR and Solstice/Sky's can get ~450HP with a turbo swap and a reflash. Nothing else. Stock fuel system, stock head, stock bottom end. Autoblog claimed that it would be mid to upper $30k's, but I don't think that's any number that came out of GM's mouth. A base Regal is the same price range as a Malibu, which tops out at $30K EVEN. I see this coming in around $34-36k. Any more and you might as well buy an AWD Caddy CTS.
  7. "Unofficially" debuted by Lutz. Instead of the 325HP turbo 2.8L 6 that it gets in Europe, we're going to get a 255HP/295 lb-ft turbo 2.0L. It still has AWD and a 6 speed manual. I like it! http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/07/buick-regal-gs-brings-performance-back-to-trishield-brand/#continued http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/regalgs---01_opt.jpg
  8. I saw a V and a non-V coupe today. Both looked pretty good to me. The V should be a great performer.
  9. Block wasn't in WRC before, he was in Rally America. I'm sure he would take any decent offer on the table that would give him a shot in the WRC. This was talked about a few months ago in a few news releases, but maybe it wasn't finalized until now. Preiously I thought it was a development program with Block and Atkinson running Fiesta's in select events this year, with a full schedule possible in 2011. EDIT: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/15/report-ken-block-heading-to-wrc-with-new-monster-ford-team/ Here's the link to the story that came out back in October.
  10. It's a cost savings. Now they only have to change two letters on the car to change it from Kenny Brack to Ken Block.
  11. Agreed, except you obviously haven't been in a new Dodge Ram (and they had the heated steering wheel before Ford). Ford has been impressing me a lot lately. I like the new Fusion/Milan, the Escape isn't bad, the F150's are nice (Raptor is awesome!), the New Edge is nice, Lincoln MKS is beautiful...really the only things that bother me are the Focus and the Lincoln that's on the Flex platform (ugly).
  12. With poured walls you probably won't have moisture issues for a few years, then you get rod holes that start to pop up. Probably depends on how moist the soil is around your house, but my house is 8-9 years old and I already have one that's visible and weeps water. Luckily it's in the section of my basement that's not finished. Everything else is covered by drywall Seal it while you can still get to it, but it won't stop rod holes from eventually coming through.
  13. That's his direct quote? That's all I wanted to clear up. Glucose isn't bad, and it's what every organism on the planet uses for energy. (At least I thought that was what the Dr. said)
  14. Glucose and Fructose. But he said that bond is so weak it's almost immediately broken, so you use the glucose to energy and process the fructose the same as you would in HFCS, right? Glucose isn't unhealthy...it's what every living thing on earth needs/uses for energy. Why would you say that. Even the video has no problem with glucose, it's a simple carbohydrate.
  15. From the comments it sounds like she's the Milka Duno of the drifting scene.
  16. Exactly! I totally agree. Pastrana is a more skilled driver, IMO, but Block has more money and backs himself in all the racing he does. It will be interesting to see how he does in WRC. You also have to remember that Blocks gymkana vids are done in multiple takes and it's edited together to look like one continuous run. IMO, Rhys Millen, Tanner Foust, and Travis Pastrana all are more skilled drivers than Ken Block.
  17. I watched the video and this is a point where I'm confused and probably missed something. I thought the point was that all sugar is bad in your diet, but HFCS was especially a worry because they are adding it to all foods after removing the fat. Didn't he say that the health effects of HFCS and sugar are the same? Just so I understand it better, what I got out of it is: Glucose = good Sucrose (table sugar) and Fructose (HFCS) = bad, but the effects can be negated if taken in with fiber or if ingested after exercise. So it shouldn't matter if the label says "sugar" or "HFCS" because the sucrose is broken down into fructose and glucose almost immediately anyway, right? Or is it not the same because HFCS has a higher concentration of fructose reaching the liver? This is one point (the difference between ingesting sugar vs. HFCS) I either missed or he didn't touch on too much.
  18. In for the granola recipe's too. I've been trying to eat healthier and cut some of this stuff out of my diet, but it's tough with the amount of travel I do.
  19. With crappier spool. A GT2868-HTA flows 48 lb/min! Same housings and similar spool to a GT2860RS, but flows 10 lb/min more. What else can you get like that for cheaper?
  20. We had a small (50 guests) ceremony/reception at the Omni Resort in Orlando. The location, food, staff, and recommended vendors were great.
  21. Awesome. I saw this car at the proving grounds about two weeks ago when they were testing it against an Enzo. Looked awesome!
  22. How is this much different then the energy star rebates currently out there? Does it just increase to limit per household, or does it increase the percentage I can get back? EDIT - Nevermind it looks like both the percentage and limit per household are increased, as well as the price of installation being included.
  23. 2.0L SIDI Ecotec Turbo. People are over 400 HP with a turbo swap and a reflash.
  24. Wow. That's crazy. I'm actually glad I'm not up there right now...too cold and windy! My co-worker went up there this fall. You can check out some pics of the area on his photography web site: http://eatondigital.com
