  3. No, I'm not lucky enough for that. Those are mostly brand guys and product design office. I get what you are saying and I agree. Sometimes the way things are bundled don't seem to make sense, other times there's a good reason. At least for your specific example, I think every radio/RAM will have Bluetooth. 6. The new RAM has it, not sure about F150. They're all optional, so you don't have to pay for them if you don't want them, but the luxury pickup is probably here to stay. If the OEM's want to charge $70-100k for a truck they need to make it worth it. Though I will disagree that Blind Spot is a frivolous feature, especially when it can detect along-side a trailer you're towing. There are base work trucks, more mainstream Big Horns, "off-road" Rebels, and luxed up Limited/Longhorns. Each has their own price point an option packages, so no one is forced to pay for an option they don't want. I should also add, the RAM also has an available 19 speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, and the 12" touchscreen matches the resolution of the iPhone 8's retina HD display. 7. True, also good points. RAM also focused a lot on cutting weight, but didn't go as far as using Al doors. The frame was redesigned with crash testing in mind, as well as weight, and it's using composite upper control arms. It's clear GM was focused on aero too when you look at the front end (as was RAM), so I expect they'll post improved EPA numbers too. We'll see who comes out on top, especially after everyone certifies their diesels. I should add to my feature list above that RAM is the only one to offer the option of coil spring suspension or air suspension. The air suspension is now a second generation design and you can lower the rear to make loading and unloading easier. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  8. Went to the auto show today and there were no new Silverado's on the show floor, only locked up on the turn tables. Ill reserve judgement on the Silverado's interior quality until I can get in one, but I do think that the RAM is at the top of the class in the quality of materials being used, but I do recognize that we only had 2 trucks open and they were highly optioned models. I can't say how well it compares in a base truck. It's still quite disappointing that an "all new" 2019 truck doesn't have the features of their competitors, like Blind Spot Detection for one. I get that other features, like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist may be seen as more of a GMC feature instead of Chevy, which hasn't been introduced yet and Ford and RAM don't have a two model strategy. However, with RAM 1500 within spitting distance of passing the Silverado in sales, I expected them to come out with something better. Features that both Ford F150 and RAM 1500 offer that GM doesn't (on any truck so far): Blind Spot Detection with trailer coverage Rear Cross Path Detection Lane Keep Assist Adaptive Cruise Control Automatic Emergency Braking Surround View Cameras Active Park Assist Power Deployable Running Boards Flat load floor Things Ford F150 has that no one else does: Trailer Back up Assist Small displacement turbo V6 Things RAM 1500 has that no one else has: RAM box storage Recling rear seats Adaptive LED headlamps 48V hybrid powertrains 12" touch screen infotainment Things Silverado has that no one else has: Power rear tailgate (although both RAM and F150 have a power release with controlled decent) A steering wheel that is offset from the driver seat. 9. The price difference in trucks can be negligible these days, since it's such a competitive market, so I will put that issue to the side for now. All interiors are comprised of various plastics, leather, faux leather, and fabric. Would you say that all vehicles have identical interior quality? Of course not. Through the late 2000's Chrysler was ridiculed for the quality of their interiors (for good reason). But they did a comparison with other automakers and found no difference in the materials being used or their quality, but in their shape and where they used. Now FCA puts more money into the interior, but they have also changed where and how they use different plastics. I say all this because I don't think GM learned the same lessons. The RAM interior has (or can have) lots of soft touch materials. The Silverado I sat in reminded me of a 2007 Dodge Caliber. There were very few soft touch surfaces. Also, they placed the cut lines in poor places. For example, the door handle is made of two different pieces of plastic snapped together. There was mold flashing around the sieges of each piece and the seam was on the back side where my hand has to pull. It created a sharp edge on my hand that I would have to touch multiple times a day. Poor design choice. Here is an example of two interiors. One is the new RAM Rebel, the other is the current Silverado Z71. Do you honestly find these to be equal? I accept that design can be subjective but IMO this goes beyond that once you're actually sitting in it and touch it. I have not seen the new Silverado interior to see if it improved. Also, do you drive a Silverado/Sierra/Tahoe/Escalade/etc? Does it bother you that the steering wheel is offset from the driver seat? Bugs the hell out of me. And BTW, I didn't ignore your post above but I didn't want to type it all out on my phone. I'll get back to it when I'm on a computer. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  10. Rebel slots between a Z71 Chevy and a Ford Raptor. Not a stripper model by far. The Rebel has an electronic locking rear differential and remote reservoir Bilstein shocks. You see FCA launching a lot of BSG's right now, as well as a few others (Bentley, Mercedes, Audi...) but most of the industry will follow. When you hear them say "electrified powertrains" this is what they are usually referring to. The MGU provides a torque assist (or torque fill as McLaren calls it) so the gas engine doesn't have to work as hard during transients. It also shifts the load point on the gas engine, with allows the V8 to stay in 4 cylinder mode longer. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  11. Kind of long but covers a lot. You'll see the BSG/MGU and most of the interior features. Here's an 8.4" head unit in a Rebel interior and a 7" in a Tradsman. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  12. Yes, there is a 7" and an 8.4" touch screen available. The 12" comes in the higher optioned models only (Limited, Longhorn, etc) Yes the MGU (BSG-Belt Starter Generator) is on the serpentine belt. I'll try to find a pic, but there was a good video by TFL on YouTube that showed both the V6 and V8. This is how most are being done, AFAIK. Yesterday Mercedes launched their AMG models with BSG too. RAM previously offered a stripper model (HEMI, standard cab, short bed, R/T), not sure what plans are for the new model, beyond the Tradesman. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  13. There are many redundant controls for frequently accessed features. Climate control (temp/fan) buttons are on the drivers side of the screen towards the top. Also, the buttons at the bottom of the UConnect screen are completely configurable by the user. If you go into the apps menu you can drag and drop any button into the bottom bar so it's always immediately accessible. As far as I know, no other infotainment system allows you to do this. 1. Yes it is. It's essentially like having 2 of the standard screens when you split it into two. The nice thing about that is you can use Apple CarPlay/Android Auto while still having the rest of the vehicle menus available. Again, no other infotainment allows this to be possible. 2. Yea, I get it. RAM (or all of FCA brands) have a perception problem. This will only be improved over time and much effort to change people's minds. The Daimler years really hurt the reputation of the company and we will be paying for it for years to come. However, feel free to go sit in one of our products and the competitive offerings from Ford and GM. Most, if not all, of our newer products (2014+) exceed the competition in the quality of materials used on the interior. I sat in a $45k Silverado a few weeks ago and it was awful plastic everywhere. The new RAM is head and shoulders above the competition in this regard. 3. Check out the face of the new Ranger too. If the interface is clear, intuitive and offers the appropriate redundant hard buttons/controls then yes. IMO, where Tesla fails is they have no hard buttons for frequently accessed features. The RAM is not like that. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  14. For #2, I wouldn't say GM copied them on the aluminum thing. The Silverado only has aluminum doors, hood, and tailgate. None of the body panels are aluminum, while the F150 is all aluminum. The RAM has Al hood and tailgate but not the doors. The main reason for this, IMO, is the investment cost. To convert to Al, Ford had to completely empty and clean the assembly plant of any iron/steel dust. Have you seen the process a repair shop has to go through when repairing an F150? Now imagine doing that to an entire assembly plant. But, yea, those commercials are annoying. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  15. I hate to say it, but that's a Daimler era product and they cheaped out on everything. My supervisors early 2000's Wrangler frame was rusting like crazy too. When Daimler left, so did their practices. The new trucks are different in many ways. They're not even made in the same plant as before. Next ti.e the suggestion box opens up I'll throw that in. Other forums have pointed this out too. The biggest difference is in the interior and the technology they offer. For instance, the new Silverado released Saturday STILL doesn't offer blind spot detection, ACC, LKA, etc. Their interior looks like crap compared to the new RAM too. Feature-wise, the closest thing to the new RAM is the Lincoln Navigator (minus the 22 way massaging seats). Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
  16. The rotary shifter is easy to use, even with gloves, and it frees up a lot of space in the center console. The 12" screen is optional on some models, standard on top luxury trims. There are 3 different screen sizes available across the full model range. Pickups have become high content luxury vehicles (at the top of the range) and RAM has the nicest interior with more features thelan any of the trucks out there. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk

  19. After seeing the new Silverado reveal, and knowing what the F150 has, the new RAM is killing it. https://jalopnik.com/the-2019-ram-1500-gets-hybrid-tech-and-an-insane-12-inc-1822056899 Hands down, this will be the best truck on the market, IMO. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk

  24. The radar sensor could go on either side, so for some reason they picked the passenger side, however you also have an ultrasonic sensor next to the tow hook that would probably be covered. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
