  1. IBM R50 Thinkpad Wont boot unless you flex case and hold it- just like the Tseries- likely a graphics chip solder issue- can you reflow boards? let me know as I would like to fix it or get some money for my next pc.
  2. Thanks for all of the great replies!
  3. my fox coupe used to lose gauges randomly- turned out the jack@#% that owned it before me tried to jam some tap into the fuse box for some of his stereo crap and loosened the slot- I just crimped it back down and it was good for about 50K miles of daily driving- I miss that old car.
  4. Hey all- As a potential next project vehicle... Must have good aftermarket support, large enthusiast base, and be relatively affordable... you know the type where unmolested becomes a key buyers term... What I am thinking so far: 1. Mustang (5.0 fox preferred) 2. Camaro/Firebird (LS1 preferred) 3. Porsche 944 Turbo 4. E30 BMW 5. Miata 6. FB/FC RX7 7. 1G DSM and 2G closely behind 8. Corvette\MK4 Supra\FD RX7 9. Impreza WRX 10. R32 11. 300ZX TT 12. 240SX 13. 3000 GT VR4

Is there a decent book out on this type of investing? I would like to understand it to try and hedge my "fundamental" investing style... is it based on options?

Dude I consider myself moderately versed in stocks/bonds and I don't know what the hell you are talking about.... I guess I am old school
  7. do subwoofers blow often? What causes this? Improper amp matching? Don't they have some sort of protective circuitry?
  8. wow- how sad. but internet picture post tips ftw.
  9. I drove my 5spd blown/h/c/i 5.0 mustang daily for 4 years in the rain and snow on bfg g-force ta kdws tires- I got stuck once- before that I drove a six speed LT1 firebird with 4.10 gears on goodyear rsas and then pepboys futuras. But knowing how to drive with rwd all white knuckled and sweaty half sideways up hills and drifting around outerbelts isn't worth it to me anymore- I will take a cautious leisurely fwd or 4wd/awd any day of the week now... if I had nowhere to go and wanted to fool around yes rwd is much more fun and challenging. Getting to work/school every day was an accomplishment. I took the z06 out for kicks one time before winterizing it this year on 18" 295 Nitto NT-05s... for those of you that aren't familiar these are a super soft dry weather tire compound with a tread pattern very similar to a slick with one groove down the middle... I managed to get to the gas station, fill up and get back without getting stuck and yes it was a thrill but I would not do it everyday unless I had to and then I would get some all season or snow tires on some narrower rims. And yes, to the waxers, I hosed it down undercarriage and all even though there isn't much that can rust on these things anyhow being all aluminum and plastic.
  10. first I would refinance that car loan if you can- 6% is ridiculous in this economy- penfed is offering 2.9%... then I would pay down the high interest rate credit card debt- roth or not as things stand now- I don't see you making anywhere near the returns you would need to justify not paying down any sort of consumer debt...
  11. violins and ford scan tool spoken for- big items going on craigslist now..
  12. prices are negotiable- this stuff needs to go!
  13. That's funny you should say that El Karacho... We drove an 08 GS350 AWD last night- it seemed about perfect in every way but didn't excite myself nor my wife-it was a little too muted and it cost more... the RL begs to be driven hard the GS made me want to take a nap... I bet the GS had the same power or more, the handling seemed close with the edge to the RL, but the feel wasn't there- hard to explain... I felt the same way about our RSX-S it felt like it would handle like my z06 and I know it couldn't- maybe that's what they call confidence inspring?... dunno
  14. Interestingly consumer reports auto edition rates the 06-08 GS350 AWD as much worse than average in reliability. The 06-08 RL is just average. The GS350 RWD is better than average? We do not want a manual transmission in this car which rules out the newer legacy GTs and the old ones are tough to find in auto as well- we drove a subaru 3.6R which is only 10 hp less than the GT and it was alright, nothing exciting- thanks for your recommendation though.
  15. Hey all- Looking for your opinion and rationale. For a family sedan/daily for my wife. She isn't crazy about them but she would also consider the previous generation of the GS to save money. The I/IS is too small, the ES is too camry like, and the LS is too expensive. On the Acuras the TL and TSX are too small but we did love our RSX-S so we are definitely Honda people. Thanks, Andrew
  16. for real ;-) as of right now the violin set has been spoken for- I will let you know if the deal falls through.
  17. lol- photbucket wasn't copying properly!
  18. Lampy? Not sure how to respond... Did you mean to type lumpy- if so it is pretty smooth?
