  1. I don't know which number they are but the turbo awd mitsubishi Evolutions (the one before the current one) are pretty sweet and good in dry/rain/snow- I wanted to trade the vette in on one to get more use out of it (4 doors with kids now is more appealing) but the wife wont let me ;-) Have you considered an 03-04 cobra or GTO and a beater? You would prob be money ahead.
  2. I've seen this car- very unique! We loved our Type S RSX Good luck
  3. That's almost exactly how mine is setup(without the cage for now)! So the extra bar on that roll cage served as enough of a barrier? Great! I could even weld some sheet metal in that triangular area- do you have any more pictures of that cage it looks like a unique setup... The sump does protrude into the bottom of the car and the PO did some hack sheet metal work underneath it to cover it- I was going to redo it anyway- any idea what gauge? I am glad you joined this thread AJ as I think I remember you mentioning something about a fuell level sender for the cell in yours? Thanks all for the great info!
  4. thanks guys - that makes sense! So I def need a rear firewall? that is going to take some figuring- the rear seat wont count will it?
  5. Hey all- We have a car we bought that has an aluminum 8 gallon fuel cell in it. It doesn't have a gas gauge and when we asked the seller about that he came up with a pointed stick! He pokes it into this yellowish foam inside the tank until it touches the bottom and that is the gas gauge. My questions are: What is the foam for? Is the puncturing of it with the sharp stick a bad thing? How would you replace it or how did they get it in there in the first place? Also this is a hatchback car- what other requirements are there if any to having this in there without a rear firewall? Thanks in advance! Andrew
  6. You might be surprised- granted I had crappy tires (7 year old F1s) that I had WAY too much air in (max inflation pressure of 44 or 45) but I found our old RSX-S on cupped factory size small tires to be much easier to drive than the z06--- I bought some better street rubber (nitto nt-05s) for it but have been too busy to come back. I had a blast with the acura and it rained half of the time- the z06 was more frustrating than fun.
  7. that would be cool- I heard of a guy that buys road race team used rubber and uses it daily on his z06- if I knew a source I might do that as well- maybe you can look into that?
  8. subscribed- in for pics of "blanket?" to prevent Lt. Dan outcome.
  9. This was at the end of our hall way and is almost floor to ceiling. 37.5" x 90" x 1/4" In great shape but very heavy. 40.00 OBO
  10. Hey all- First off- I am far from a bodybuilder! I have been weightlifting on and off since I was 17 (now 31). I commissioned steven to come out and check my form on some exercises and to design a workout/diet for me for functional strength/mass but still maintain a normal life (I did mark rippetoe starting strength for about 4 months previously and it put me in physical therapy for 2 months)... I learned all sorts of new core exercises and a few tricks on the big 3 (squat, deadlift, bench) in our short session and the workout he designed for me is quite intense. Granted I had to take 2 months off of any lifting whatsoever but I still can't walk naturally today as my legs are dead from monday. His diet is daunting but I think necessary due to my fast metabolism and low body weight and I asked we keep it all natural but an occasional protein shake and he responded accordingly... Oh yeah I workout out alone in my basement with a power rack, barbells, dumbells, and a lat machine. Shoot him a pm if you are stuck in your current workout or looking for some new motivation, he went to school for this and obviously loves it. oh yeah forgot to mention he is a really cool guy as well- we probably talked more about cars than weightlifting...
  11. Dude I agree... cold as hell and then non stop rain until it is so steamy hot you can hardly breathe and then 15-30 days of fall and winter is back again.
  12. Hey all- Is this DVD any good? Supposedly it ships with every new holley 4 bbl which makes me doubt its quality but am curious. http://www.jegs.com/i/Holley/510/36-378/10002/-1 Background- I have a Holley 4150 750 cfm DP with a HP main body on a 355 sbc that smells like it is running way rich, runs really crappy when cold, and when you get on it beyond 1/2 throttle will fall on its face. Want to get it running right NA and then down the road a blow through turbo setup. I have been scouring ebay for a good used LM-2/LM3 setup but have not found one yet Thanks! Andrew
  13. I did hear they copied the firing order??
  14. looks to me like an amped up hyundai genesis in those pictures- nothing wrong with that as it is a good looking car as well- jmho.
  15. I will pass on some painful advice Sam Strano shared with me when I was in a similar boat - sell it and buy a Corvette. If you don't know who Sam Strano is google him and you will realize the irony and powerful candidness of this advice. I had a fox coupe (had already done most of the straight line stuff (supercharger, h/c/i, built driveline). I had researched all of the options (griggs, max motorsports, fabricate a torque arm/panhard from that book I am forgetting the name right now, etc) had already bought a 5 lug kit with brakes and half of the stuff from maximum when I came to my senses and realized the mustang was never made to handle and anything I did to it would be at a compromise- it is an economy car on a dated 1979 chassis. Arguably the best value you can buy for straight line racing but after I dropped another 5-10 grand in it it might hang with a stock corvette (if I was a good enough driver) but ride like a conestoga wagon. The 05+ cars are a step in the right direction for sure but def not in the same ballpark. I took a catastrophic loss on it (which would have only been worse down the road had I done the suspension as well) sold the uninstalled parts and bought a low mileage z06 which I am trying to leave alone. If you have an authentic saleen you already have the best compromise as far as performance/ride and anything you do will detract from it. SFC's are great bang for the buck but don't know if I would put them on a saleen- I would be surprised if you didn't already have upgraded lcas. I miss my old 5.0 car for its sound and rawness but I would never trade my corvette for it. Sam Strano was correct. Of course now with my son being born I don't have the time to do what I used to but everytime I drive this car I fall in love with it for how well engineered it is.
  16. What are you doing about an axle retention device which is required at 10.99 or faster? I doubt I can slide by on disc brakes caliper brackets and dont really want to have leaky c-clip eliminators that will work with drums both of which makes the 9" hybrid ends appealing- I haven't priced the alignment jig that is needed as they are a butt-weld.
  17. AJ- are these what you are talking about? http://www.dutchmanaxles.com/products/billet-housing-ends# It looks as if they are self centering so maybe I wouldn't need a jig at all as long as I could keep them from backing out... for some reason I was thinking they would need to be butt welded
