  1. When is he coming back to MCIR- I will bring my z06 and my dad's ls3 c6 and we can run against him... both street tire cars- his is an auto- mine a 6 speed
  2. couple of rugby players- bigger than the football players at my alma mater, were harassing a girl, campus cops told them to stop, campus cops went to hospital, rugby players did not get expelled or do jail time- true story. I was shocked.
  3. older S10 only weighs 2600-2800 lbs if I read correctly. my notch weighed 3030 with a half tank of gas with full interiors and no weight loss but my no tailpipes or ac. A sn95 car does weigh about 2-400 more but you can fit bigger tires- well maybe a rust free 4 banger car would be tempting --seems kind of dumb to get another fox body as I just sold a practically rust free fox coupe less than 2 years ago.
  4. Hey all- Which would you build for a quarter mile car? I am not saying it will be as fast as the fastest street car boys last friday but will definitely be the fastest thing my dad and I have ever built... S10 pickup with sbc, turbo, TH400 or powerglide trans, and probably ford 8.8- maybe 12 bolt but don't know much about them. Sn95 v6 mustang with 351 or 460, turbo, c4 trans, 8.8. I already know mustangs so am leaning this way but I think it would be easier to tub the back of a truck. I'd do another fox body but would have to have a coupe and they are getting more rare and rusty by the day... all the sn95s are coupe style already. Or something already half done or completed on racingjunk.com http://www.racingjunk.com/category/28/Race_Trucks/post/1955580/1989-Chevy-S-10-Drag-Truck.html Other suggestions? Would consider GN as I know they are fast but I think once you get past upping the boost on a stock turbo they get really expensive
  5. Do not sell complete- Take partout value and multiply by 2/3 if you do. I had about 17K in my old 1990 very clean fox coupe- I sold it for 8300 with blower, trickflow top end h/c/i, built 8.8, refreshed t5, Lasota SCT tune with Lightning MAF and 42lb injectors, etc, etc. took 8 months to get it as well... To the right person though it may be worth more- I drove all the way to louisville KY in mine to show it to a guy that agreed upon 12K... he loved it but had never been in a fox body before and was 6'4"- that was a @#%#@% long drive home... I should have robbed him j/k LOL. I KNOW I could have parted it for 10-12- I just didn't have the time to do it and couldn't bear to tear apart a perfect car I built from scratch. I got almost 2 grand from the little crap I had left over! If you like it keep it- if you are worried about the stock shortblock aftermarket block is what 1500?
  6. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a salvage title car (the boxster)... but cool nonetheless.. to the original poster- put a v8 in it!
  7. Wayne- saw your seven there is it a rotary or v8 swapped- did you end up running it? I never saw it go?
  8. I was spectating from 7-midnight and I am very impressed with MCIR. I will not be back to trails as they are about equidistant for me- I like the presence of grass and the atmosphere much better and it was nowhere near as crowded- I should have brought the vette for the grudge racing.... Matt- you came out of the hole like a monster and I thought it was over for that black malibu with the lead you had. I wondered what happened as it did seem as if you did have to lift- tire shake would explain it! Your truck is always entertaining to watch... Ray- sweet car! Your 2 stage/transbrake failed the first time, his battery/something all out died the second- well I guess if your brake didn't fail the first time there wouldn't have been a second.... how did the slips compare of the single runs? And as a spectator it seemed as if the malibu was def making changes running around switching botttles, sending kids after adjustable wrenches, running gas generators to charge batteries or something- Ray's car looked like a stock f-body with a modified hood and tires sitting there peacefully with noone around it and others running to and from their car like kids. I never met ray and do not know him personally but from reading on here- his car looks very well put together however- so I am not biased other than forum affiliation but I am going to join ohiodragracers as well. I do know matt and he is a good guy- he owns my dad's old tv! Some sweet cars out there- I about died when I saw that burgundy notch- I thought it was my old car- thankfully it had a porno red interior and nitrous so the knife was not turned... Laters, Andrew
  9. If its a white mustang 95 cobra R it is pete ricart's and Jim thompson built it for him (well I think lee howie started it and jim finished it or fixed it)... he put a rearend in my firebird for me the first time and I learned to do it from watching him back when I was 18 or so... cool guy- he and his son are big in the GN circuit. At that point it was a built engine big blower car on race gas and I think the factory manual tremec and it couldn't hook then but that has been a lot of years...
  10. The risk is worth the 3 hp dawg! Maybe the plugs are hard to find like waldo?
  11. I will be there to spectate if all goes down as planned- whats the event before? gates open at 7? I dont understand if you have a 8-10 second car why you wouldn't want to do this? Maybe they are 8-10 second cars on the interwebz only?
  12. was jp wearing a 5pt harness when he wrecked at 170 mph- how did he lose control? Has anyone verified the risk distance of head hitting cage or is this an urban myth/internet drama?
  13. thats awesome! arcaracing.com I couldn't find the rules just read on wiki that they are mostly previous nascar cars? So tube frame, plastic/fiberglass bodied, v8s with one carb and restrictor plates, dunno about transmission and rear end, 2500 lbs?
  14. +10 That 16 second video is too far away to see whats going on but it looks as if he is having a lot of traction problems either through lack of tire, too much throttle too soon/no clutch slip, didn't drive around the water box on old street tires etc has he added the bushings so he doesnt wheel hop?-- Drag racing takes a lot of practice and while yes it is a money race you can spend a lot of money and still not be fast- There are guys that get 11s with 250 rwhp but I bet its not their first time down the quarter mile and there are guys with 600 whp that cant get 11s that may only go once or twice a year. The guy that goes out to an actual track once or twice a year and has a good time even though he got 2 seconds off what he "should" get, gets more respect in my book then all the internet bench racing dyno queens that talk about how fast they are from a roll.
  15. wow that looks like a lot of car for that price and mileage- I dont know anything about saab- thanks I will look into it.
  16. too small and rwd- but thankyou for the suggestion.
  17. Thanks, the legacy GT is looking better... and especially the volvo s60 and R- the TL is in the price range at about 80K miles (which is a bit) but still her favorite.
  18. Thanks for your suggestion but the only MB car I would ever touch is one of the more recent SL500s and I would only buy a salvage title version and strip everything but the interior and power folding top and put either an LS1 or 5.0 (old style) with a built t56/t5 or C4 auto, a pair of turbos and a 8.8 mustang solid axle rear- maybe if I had the bux at the time a beefed up c5 z06 IRS or 8.8 IRS cobra rear with the max motorsports bushing kit- nicely done roll bar and I would call it a day.
  19. 4 cars for a combined 100K miles and one of them went in under warranty work 7 times in 2 years and you are happy about this? What does 1/2 a day run at MAG? I do like my wife's friends' 01 jetta vr6. It has a bad coilpak on it which if you don't jbweld it costs I think 700.00, faulty window motor regulators, and something else I can't remember and it has less than 80K but it is still a neat driving car and with their resale value I can about be paid to have one- very fun to drive- good for a project car...
  20. Honest question, is the Toureg(sp) made by chrysler as well?
  21. what kind of race car is that/specs?
  22. Thanks for all of the replies people... In response- I do like the volvo S60R/S60 but I have never had a volvo and know very little about them and as ford no longer owns them that concerns me as that is the only reason I would have bought one before- who handles the parts? The IS300 is too small as well as my sister has an IS250 and she is cramped for space with her daugher which is a similar age to ours. They are also rwd- her awd version got stuck last year due to its low ground clearance and I had to pull her out with the explorer. I also like the Mazda 6s especially the Mazdaspeed versions but again never had a Mazda and ford no longer owns and I think the mazdaspeeds was not ford to begin with. We test drove a Mazda 6 when we got the RSX-S and we liked the aesthetics but the handling was way too soft for us- the engine did feel torquey- I think it was a v6 model but it may not have been. Acura TL Type S I have started looking into but they are only 07-08 and cost a lot more... the wife doesn't like the cts/ctsv/g8/gtp etc I have tried ;-) She is willing to discuss the Lincoln LS but I think they are too old and high mileage now. We have not had as much luck with the nissan and gm vehicles we and our extended families have had, Ford and Hondas have been much better for us for some reason. True I have a z06 and love it but then again ford/honda do not make anything close in the same price range. I would be tempted by a volkswagen but our family has also not had great experiences with german cars (porsches/audis mainly even though my mom and dad both had 60s beetles they thought were great) they are awesome cars when new and not with the hood up but are expensive and quirky to maintain and this is not something I am looking for in this type of vehicle. Like the idea of subaru but again not familiar with the brand and the fact that I would guess they are hard to find unmolested. So in short after discussing with the wife: 1. 06-07 Acura TL at a very strong lead If the numbers work better but she'd rather not... 2. 08-09 Accord or 08-10 Fusion And distant... 3. Lincoln LS (large enough but not sure but I think rwd which is questionable and if it doesn't have LSD it is out.) Very distant... 4. Mazda6 and S60R (not sure if either of these are large enough) We are going to try to drive each of these to know for sure...
  23. Hey all- Sold the RSX-S, now need a reliable family sedan fun and good looking would be positives but reliability and space is king for our now 15 month old and maybe another sometime down the road and all the stuff that goes along with kids. The 99 explorer is good for snow or when I can't drive the corvette as I need to haul something but while it hasn't given us any major trouble yet- it is likely around the corner as it has 140K miles. Could maybe swing a little more than 15K but definitely less than 20K. So far looking at 06-07 Acura TLs, 08-09 Honda Accord, and 08-10 Ford Fusion- Thanks, Andrew
