Can we assume this is a factory five GTM?
-
Think I saw this car crossing over riverside at glick a few days ago- sounds good. If you upgrade the rearend isn't it already a vette just a little heavier? Ashley?/AJ?
-
I guess I am more of a driving experience kind of guy- I will have to think about this when I drive home today as I certainly felt like a jet pilot wrapped in leather this morning (I have modified my seat bolsters though)... ironically I feel more like I am in a cockpit in my c5z than I do in my dad's c6 as they feel much more spacious to me. AJ/Garret/Sam/lcz06/Brian what do you think? Curb weight between a c5z and c6 should be about 3000/3250

All of you that bash the interior on the vettes- what are you comparing it to? My sister and brother in law have lexuses(lexi?), my dad has had numerous porsches, wife and mom drive acuras, my mom's previous car was an infiniti, she has had a lincoln, and before that she had a few audis, I don't think any of them are/were significantly better or worse than the c5 or c6 corvettes. True the radio in the c5 looks like it came out of a blazer as it did but the rest is actually quite nice- my dad's c6 is very nice inside and even has a touch screen nav unit and carbon fiber trim. Are you comparing the 200K plus cars like ferrari, aston martin, rolls royce with that super soft perforated leather (forget the name of it).

Ever since seeing basic instinct I wanted one of these....

It depends what you are into- If you want that raw beast feeling (in relative corvette terms), improved road feel, and superior handling go for the c5z. If you want a comfortable yet blistering fast ride go for the c6- if you want to do the twisties get a Z51 car but know you are still going to have to be a really good driver to catch a c5z. I personally did not want a removable roof whatsoever and love the fixed roof coupe design of the c5 z06. And coming from a supercharged, h/c/i 5.0 COUPE (are you seeing a pattern here) mustang I thought the c6 was too refined. I would never trade mine for a c6. A C6Z06 would be the closest temptation but they are a lot of dough and I am partial to the roof design so I would just put an LS7 in my car if I lusted for more NA power.. My dad has an 08 436 hp paddle shift car and it is really nice and smoking fast- but not a c5z- you will have to drive them both to understand what I am saying... most true c5z enthusiasts are only pleased with a lotus elise afterwards as many get c6s and come back. His isn't a Z51 but we were on a road tour with a severe downhill non banked turn, I took it with no problems at all and could have done it much faster and his car got into active handling to recover from a spin- my tires were 6 years old and his less than a year. He would never trade his for mine though I should mention- totally different animals. BTW you could hear the top squeak and rattle on my dad's car until we modified the latch pins so there IS movement there even if it was designed to be that way.

I was going to buy an 04 SRT-4. Test drove it at a dealership off Morse- after a moderately agressive test drive it had some serious clutch chatter, concerned with the chance that it would be a typical chrysler product and that I am 5'6ish and the "viper" seats lower bolsters put my knees into the dashboard as well.... I walked away and bought an 04 Acura RSX-S. It did seem like a fun car however. And as far as the Kstang bashing I think all of us were young and car crazy once...
-
witnessed "Gozilla" in GTR near OSU campus doing same cutting and swerving- ugly car but definitely exotic looking. BTW I still love the story I heard that they (NISSAN) put a "ringer" out at nurburgring (sp) and claimed it could pull faster lap times than the 911 GT2 and then Porsche (POR SHA fwiw not porch or porsh) acquired a few "non-ringers" through dealerships and proved it could not.

Have you checked your alignment? How is your tire wear?
-
I hear you dude WTF!!!- I let my very clean supercharged, trickflow heads, cam, intake, Lasota SCT tuned (no FMU bs) notch for 8,300.00 after dropping from 14K progressively over 9 months.... I still think the guy stole it but it did take forever to sell...
-
ah- understood- very clever! I still wouldn't recommend unless you have a bumper sticker/plate frame to clarify, are gay, or have a very understanding wife.
-
^^^ that's going to get you a lot...
-
I have read not to even try it unless you have a quality spool gun- I have heard snapon makes/sells a nice one- and something that thin is going to be tough with a mig unless you are really good and have a lot of extra material to practice on... Do you know what alloy of aluminum is the piping? I have graduated from training at Lincoln Electric in Tig welding and have a quality ac/dc inverter machine and have some 4043 filler but only currently have 3/32 which is too thick for that stock (I would have to check my literature but I am pretty sure that would be the correct rod for the majority of aluminum pipe over the also popular 5056) ... I hope to be up and running by June or July hopefully to help people out- in the meantime I would contact Rob LaSota (RL) on here- he does a good job and may even be able to get you the hook up on that spool gun as he is a snap-on dealer as well...

apparently you are not the only one... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-z06-discussion/2568742-how-do-i-get-this-off.html#post1573698809

Welcome to the site! Nice car- I never would have pictured those audi lights looking good but they do... You may see my wife or I driving around Dublin as well as we also reside in these parts. She drives a white debadged acura RSX-S and I drive a silver corvette z06 with personal plates- we also drive a white explorer with rust on the rear quarters I need to address. And I +1 on the whole foods parking lot danger- other than walmarts that is the only other place I refuse to park at. I usually park somewhere remotely and make the trek.

Why don't you make a list of cars that are most likely to get you laid as you obviously need a distraction
-
oops double post...
-
Nice... I knew I should have been a mechanical engineer...
-
dayummm now we are talking! Do you think I could make it FWD too? Everyone knows with the weight over the wheels it's better for traction! link to ebay exhaust pipe addition? What about live hookers- that sounds more practical to me? Do you think someone could make a list for me of all of the different light bulb covers I can use to change the interior lighting?
-
I guess this means I will no longer be able to text, play xbox, and control the temperature of my house while I drive down the road trying to focus on 0-60 time trials with the elapsed timer in my on board computer???? damn.
-
Hey all- I am thinking about getting a well running 98-02 F-body, preferably a WS6 or SS model, pulling the engine as it sounds too deep and mellow for me and all those coils are confusing and putting a hyundai tiburon four cylinder engine in with a phat turbo and a really loud blow off valve in it (whooosh)? Also- does anyone know about installing a loudspeaker and strobes so I can fill it with honeys?
-
Who said anything about longevity? Nevertheless, do you think an extremely overboosted volvo wagon will last forever?
-
exactly with the advantage that you are not as likely to break off the !$%!@$ hard as !@%!%@ EZ out in the bolt then have to drill both out completely...
-
they are called left handed drill bits. an EZ out is an entirely different thing altogether fwiw
