  1. off topic- any of you marion people know a guy named vinod ponnusamy? I may have mispelled his name... he is 27 I believe
  2. Ben are you going to the autox driving school or any of the points events this year? Mine is the old style which is larger but the overall construction quality and design is the same- I could show it to you if interested. I don't believe valentine allows anyone to distribute it other than themselves...
  3. Can you turn off the main display and run just the lighter display? Like the V1 concealed display?? I know the original poster said I did not want the valentine but they are not overrated in any way- maybe slightly more expensive
  4. Does yours tell you where the police are located in addition to showing how many there are- beyond 3?? IE forward, side, or backward? so you know if the threat is passed or still ensuing (sp)?
  5. what did you end up doing? Got your reply on BS- I am trying to decide if I want to go electric or not- I will keep yours in mind- I figure whatever I may lose my corking the exhaust I can more than make up with a electric fan- my clutch fan is brand new autozone but it has a bit too much play for my liking- I am looking to go factory if I stay this route.
  6. Have you seen a newer one- they are significantly smaller. To each their own. I don't know how you can call the V1 overpriced when they can be had for 350.00 with no shipping as they are "local" when your rx65 cost you 350 + shipping. Interesting also valentines are not on overstock.com. Don't knock if it you have never had one.
  7. I have heard good things about those before as well- too bad they dont come in 2.5" btw your car sounds sweet. here is mine as it sits..
  8. ah yes- supertrap- I forgot about those- thanks guys I will definitely take you up on that- I have read about them but never actually seen or heard one in person. Thanks!!!! I will look for number 64
  9. Valentine one- worth every penny- Escort in cincinnati ohio basically invented the consumer radar detector with the fuzzbox in the late 70s early 80s. My dad had this one and he and I have had almost every version of the escort detectors since then when they were considered the unparalled best- However, Mike Valentine a former employee of escort had new ideas, unable to explore them in his current position (he was either let go or quit from escort) he started valentine research also in cincinnati. One of them is called cincinnati microwave I forget which one... Either way since he branched out on his own his detector has been unbeatable year after year I have had my valentine one since I was 17 used it daily and it still works fantastic- I dont even speed anymore but it picks them out like it should almost every day. Instant-on and laser are basically unstoppable but with the range of the V1 you are likely to get someone else being picked out in front of you before you are the target--- no chance with other detectors. I actually let my wife start using it 2 years ago as she has a heavier foor than me and she used to commute to and from dayton daily and it saved her at least 4 times. My dad has upgraded his to the newer model (I think it was like 140.00 upgrade) and his is smaller and has some extra features... he has two of them now and my sister has her own- I let my brother-in-law borrow it who has used several of the cobra/bel/and another brand I cant remember but in the same price range and he would not give it back to me- it just got awkward asking for it back until he finally caved and offered to buy it from me for 300.00 I declined. you can't even buy them used cheaply- check out ebay - they hold their value amazingly well and there is a reason for it... if by some stroke of luck you can find one cheap let me know and I will buy it in a heartbeat if you dont want it. You will not be disapointed. Oh yeah you can get open box units if you drive to cincinnati for 50.00 cheaper- call ahead though they dont always have them- that is what mine is and it has worked 11 years straight! They will ship the open boxes too but almost everyone happens to be on the way somewhere through cincinnati at some point... If I still haven't convinced you to get a valentine get an escort they are a strong second best almost always
  10. Hey all anyone ever use one of these or heard one in person? http://www.carchemistry.com/shop/index.php?l=product_list&c=13 I want to get a set of them to bolt onto flanges and extensions I am going to weld onto my mufflers to quiet my car down and unbolt for the track. You can also add stainless steel packing to them to quiet further... The dynatech cone inserts do not come in 2.5" and I don't know if a mesh cone will quiet mine down as much as I would like anyhow. Other option is a set of dynomax bullets or moroso spiral flows welded into my offroad h and a set of cutouts before the final mufflers but thats a lot more hassle, weight, and cost and with most cutouts you lose ground clearance no matter how you angle them to make them accessible and the electric jobbers are not that reliable and leak- the one I have in storage was reliable but did leak occasionally depending on how it seated and I only had it on there about 8 months before I totaled the car. Dont care about power loss really as it is a street only thing and I cannot get enough traction anyhow on the street to use most of my car anyway and my cruise control testing days have been over since I was 18.
  11. Is this still accurate? 7AM start? Not a prob just making sure before I am the only one there at 7'oclock sharp or should I wait until 8 as I wouldn't know what to walk until the group does it at 8:30? Also found this on ovr-scca page for anyone else that may be new: What to Bring In addition to your car you should start gathering and preparing the following: Sun screen Hat Umbrella Folding chair Electrical tape (to make numbers!) Helmet (Snell 95 or newer) if you have one. We have loaners if you don’t Chalk (used to mark your tires) Fill your tires up to the max inflation level (This keeps your tires on the rim in hard corners. If you fill to max, you can always let some out if needed) Clean out your car and trunk. Nothing can be loose or roll around inside. ( I used to carry a plastic bin to put my CD’s and sunscreen in) Make sure your battery and spare tire are anchored down in the car. Tire Pressure Gauge
  12. look for the white rsx-s with blue painters tape number 24 GS(L) with cones flying all around it. Dont be shy-
  13. sorry guy... you don't have an lsx in there do you?
  14. when do you want to do this? I may be able to help and I know we can rent the ball joint separator from advance/autozone--- I have never done it though so would just be adding some muscle and maybe another set of eyes... I do have the service manual for our cars on cd- I can research it and get back to you if you would like... I need to do this on mine sometime soon... I am going with the moog sn95s However- if I can find an 86 crossmember and can decide on some front wheels I am going to go with an 03 cobra arms as they are only 180.00 new for the pair or some other way to make it work without fender flares I am going that way maybe you can help me research this and we can both go this way...
  15. yeah tommy you make almost 50% more to the wheels then the wife and I's car makes at the crank. I am curious to see what other cars are in G-stock as this rsx handles head over heels over the 1977 Porsche 924 I was put in the same class with about 11 years ago at my one and only other autox experience- my 17 year old driving ability didn't help but that car should have been in Z stock.
  16. premium bose stereo in my dad's new 08 corvette blows like a typical bose... he wanted nav so was stuck with it- the base stereo has a full 4 channel amp and the midlevel stereo that is bose but without navigation is even better than his...
  17. Not sure about the mark 7 but I think that is still an HO motor and all of them were forged until late 1992- they love the joose the aftermarket shames the ls motors and they respond incredibly to mods- heck a guy just posted on corral yesterday with a 306 NA that he drives daily with a mild setup that puts out 346 to the wheels.
  18. I used to go to this performance boat place in westerville--- off 3... can't remember the name performance research or something... they were the cheapest by far before I gave up on nitrous and pursued different power adders.
  19. damn if I knew I could sell my mustang I would buy these in a heartbeat for my future vette- winter tires.
  20. I got 19.6 on about every tank with my f-body six speed with 4.10 gears, cold air, exhaust dump, ported MAF, 160 T-stat-- That was an LT1 car- LS1 cars are about the same or better. Our LS1 car was a 99 SS that was an automatic so gas mileage sucked in comparison- however it ran 13.6 bone stock letting the transmission do its thing (no manual shifting). Common f-body problems are failing power windows, t-top seals, rear-end failure, oil consumption on models before 01, and subframe damage (uneven gap along front door and front quarter from guys that mod and drag race them with sticky tires without subframe connectors- oh the flip top headlights on the firebirds also have a plastic gear that fails, you can flip it once then you need to get a brass replacement. They are neat cars with a decent backseat- doors are heavy as hell due to the side impact protection. Very difficult to work on though- especially the LT1 cars. HTH, Andrew
  21. yes-- search google or corral for M3075A control arms by ford racing. They are stock stamped control arms with fresh rubber bushings and SN95 ball joints...
