Hey guys- Looking to rebuild a set of fox mustang control arms anyone know how to do this and want to make a little bit of money? I think you have to weld tabs across them so they don't deflect... and the balljoint replacement cant be easy though I have never tried it. Thanks! Andrew

I have a set of 4 Lug 28 spline factory axles I would like to get out of my garage. They are not twisted, the only reason I changed is my posi was dead when I got the car and I upgraded to an eaton 31 spline unit as I knew I had lots more HP in store. Good to have a spare set at the track to get home with for some of you running sticky tires on stock differentials. $50.00 OBO Picked up.

Hey everyone, I am looking for a set of fox mustang factory front control arms that have either been rebuilt, or are low mileage enough that they can be rebuilt. Thanks! Andrew

460 BBF Randomly Loses Power? LONG post, please help
hpfiend replied to hpfiend's topic in Tech and Tips
I can't take this... every way we go crappy parts- I guess I better start going back to the manufacturer when I can afford it and its available. We will see if another box fixes it. Our old one supposedly tested fine but we questioned the diagnostic abilities of the guy at the store. -
yep 2.5" autozone turn downs... it did make a VERY slight difference from straight dumped- I would say if thats a few decibles I need a dozen... Ramsey very interested in what you have. Will keep you posted dave on the tails.

Thanks guys- I didn't know there were so many inferior parts out there! I will check voltage/amps...

Yeah guy and I am competing with you with your free advice!!! hehe j/k I just have a lot of friends that often have car troubles and need a little bit of help... the funny thing is the guy with the blazer is married to the girl with the mustang so they have had some REAL bad luck lately. Take care and thanks for the advice!

460 BBF Randomly Loses Power? LONG post, please help
hpfiend replied to hpfiend's topic in Tech and Tips
Just found out this thing new only made 230 hp and 390 ft-lbs... thats pretty weak for 460 cubic inches... No wonder it can hardly pull its 7400 lb carcass around. Anyone ever build a BBF? I am smelling my first engine rebuild... -
And the conclusion?

Apparently I have a lot of technical issues lately!!! 1987 F350 Pickup... 460 carb BBF with 35,000 original miles. The truck had a very loud and annoying exhaust leak, we found it to be coming from the manifold as one of the heads of the manifold bolts had rusted completely away. We tried to take the manifold off, broke 5 of 8 bolts off in the head. Removed intake, passenger side head, and manifold and had the bolts professionally drilled out and helicoils inserted where necessary. Reinstalled everything but the smog pump equipment (and tried to plug all the vacuum lines we could find going to it), after plugging the back of both heads (almost impossible on the car btw for the drivers head) and removing the fittings from the passenger manifold. We capped the other side. Also in the process of the tear down we foud the distributor to be seized so after trying various penetrating fluids for days we had to use a pipe wrench on it and tore it up pretty badly once we finally got it out... so we got a new advance auto distrib with the new vacuum advance.. We put it together and it runs great until bam something happens it seems like it is running on 4 instead of 8 cylinders or all the timing is pulled out, or the fuel pump is dying as basically has no power (both electric pumps have been replaced less than 2 years ago and probably 5000 miles, and it starts pretty quickly but we haven't checked the pressure)- so little power that it will not accelerate past 45-50 on the freeway in fourth all the way to the floor with an empty bed. We first came across this problem after our major repairs after driving around for a few short test trips, filling up with gas and it running fine we then loaded it completely up with scrap steel from around the farm and started to head to the scrap yard- on the roads aroud my dads house it started breaking up and low on power, we pulled over, unplugged all the wires, replugged them in thinking we had one loose, and tapped the then old ignition module, shut the hood, restarted it and it ran like champ, all the way to marion (from delaware) and back with 2 tons of scrap steel on the back which we dumped, and then drove all the way home with no problems until we got back to our local streets and it started acting up. Possible the "new" distributor is internally malfunctioning? We already put a new ignition module, new wires, distributor cap, rotor, new plugs on the side we messed with, all of the plugs were replaced less than 3000 miles ago but we thought maybe we cracked one on the side we took off, the EGR seems to have very little vacuum to it at idle with only slight at rev... barely reads on a vacuum gauge... there are these vacuum lines on the air cleaner that control the flapper that shuts off and causes it to suck hot air from the heatshield duct on the exhaust manifold rather than cold air from the grille... unplugging these lines seemed to remedy the problem and plugging them in would cause it to return but then nothing would make it better off or on (engine quite heat soaked at this point is the only thing we can guess)... Can this carburettor function without the air pump? My dad says it kind of feels like when the powervalve was bad in his 67 vette but he doesn't know what would cause it to be fail on the truck as he has not had any backfires and we dont want to tear the carb apart without reason.... That exhaust leak doesn't seem that annoying in retrospect! LOL THANKS!!!!

It looks as if I need to get a fuel pressure gauge- anyone know anyplace that will rent them or about how much it costs to have that tested? Well I guess the actron unit they sell at advance doesnt cost that much and I can probably get it cheaper from the evilbay Is the 2000/4000 rpm thing a fpr check? I would doubt they are putting delco pump assemblies in, that was one of my guesses as well, but I told him not to run it below 1/4 and he said he never did on number 2 pump. Thanks! Andrew

I didn't know they were bad for electrical parts- where do you guys go for more reliable parts? NAPA? No crazy stereo or anything- car is 100% stock but she does have a nice set of cobra Rs she puts on just for summer driving. Thanks! Andrew

Hey guys- Replaced the alternator on my friends 99 V6 mustang- she had it diagnosed by advance auto and they said the battery was ok and that it was the alternator- She got a reman unit from them and I put it in for her after making sure the battery was fully charged and it ran great for about 3 months until it stranded her again- she limped to advance auto again and they said the alternator was bad already- this time they instructed her to put a new battery in this time as well but it was only 2 years old. She had it towed to a shop and they put a new alternator on she got under warranty from advance for her. What kind of short would burn up an alternator that quickly? They suggested it was a faulty reman? I am skeptical on their diagnosis but haven't had a chance to look at it myself since.. Thanks! Andrew

Hey guys- Buddy of mine has a 4.3L V6 Blazer 4WD- this thing has been a reliability nightmare- he said the pump had been replaced twice before and I worked on it in December/January and put a new fuel filter on it just in case they hadn't before- Well here we are in June and he thinks it needs ANOTHER pump??? Very hard starting and hesitates occasionally--- is is possible its a faulty FPR or are the two different shops that changed the pumps making bad crimps or something and not replacing the whole pump assembly?? He has just over 100K Thanks! Andrew

To everyone that requested contact info- My wife is supposed to be getting it today... will post asap. Thanks! Andrew

I will list them on here after I get this figured out.... I am not likely putting slicks back on the car as the new goal is 12.0s on street tires. If I don't put them back on after trying this flowmaster deal those will be for sale too here shortly along with some 4 lug 31 spline mosers and other parts I have collected before I decided to keep it/make it handle/brake

Dude your wife kind of looks like robin (colbie smulders) from how I met your mother! Props. My wife wont let me post pictures of her- I have been trying to get her to let me send her and my car into babes of the month in 5.0 mag since I got my car four years ago and she says it would be damaging to her career (attorney). To the fellow that mentioned how hot the women are in this thread- its a fact of life that women will go after good providers and people with cool cars typically have cool pocketbooks as it is an expensive hobby. Intelligence, confidence, sense of humor, and some game wont hurt either in the game of money or women so they usually go together. Also being active in some sort of hobby (cars) is also attractive to women- they want men to have their own interests so they can have their time and it brings more to the relationship from both sides. My wife, will now that we are married, admit that the LT1 Firebird I had in college didn't hurt my chances any. A paraphrase from my favorite author Ayn Rand, "the mark of a man is the woman he sleeps with". In my experience this rings true quite a lot both ways.... there are some cool looking dudes with no confidence that mess with some less than average looking chicks- and it goes beyond the superficial level of physical appearance... there are some really good looking women that have that as their only asset. wow I feel like I am back in interpersonal communication class in college for the core curric.... sorry. Disclaimer:Please do not infer from this that I think the guys in this thread are ugly- I would agree that the women look good but do not agree that the men are ugly- can you tell my wife is an attorney ;-)

ramsey are they for trade? how long is the body? 13.25" is 40 series and 50 series is longer. Do you have cats and a stockish engine as I have never heard anyone call flowmasters "very quiet"???? Buckeye (if that was to me)- they are for sale for the price of a set of 50 series flowmasters- They are new at summit for 137.00 ea but if you can cut a deal with your discount I am all ears. I have a set of these 2 chambers, a set of summit super turbos, a set of magnaflows, and a set of stainless tailpipes (dont like how they look, impossible to align, wont fit with slicks, heavy, and troubles with panhard bar which I plan to add soon so they are off the car) I like the tone of the flowmasters the best the volume the least, the volume of the summit super turbos the best the tone the least, and the best compromise as a pair, the magnaflows. A mix of a magnaflow and a summit superturbo is actually the best combination for drone control, volume control with ok tone but I want to try this with a 3 chamber flowmaster and a magnaflow for a better tone. Next on the list is to cap the hell out of whichever combo is best with a set of supertapp add-on discs.
