  1. I haven't decided whether I'll wear my Bruins Chara jersey, my OSU hockey jersey (go Umby!), or my BU Terriers hockey jersey (fahk yoo Atkinson!!). No love for the Detroit Periods (get it? red wings? ba-zing) here.
  2. Who's going to the opener, where you sitting? We should get a sticky in here for season ticket holders (not me) to sell their unused tickets to CR members. I plan on going to a lot of games but I can never commit until days before. I've got my C6 Club level seats for the opener, I can't wait to welcome hockey back to Columbus. lord knows the arena district needs it.
  3. If it were me running the company, I'd leave very little overlap in Vette prices vs Camaro prices. The guy who buys a plain jane base Vette is probably just some dude who wants to cruise in a sports car and feel badass, which he'd probably do just as well in a loaded Camaro with more profit built into it, if he wants to spend that kind of money.
  4. I agree with the comments pointing to the C7 being a bunch of "fast things" designs smashed together. - Exhaust looks like they took the C6 exhaust and "ferrari 458-ed" it together - Hood/front grille proportions remind me of a fatter, longer Lotus Elise with the middle placement of the plastic hood vent - Under-grille lip looks ripped off an Aventador - Headlights ripped off F12 Berlinetta - Taillights off Camaro/cross-eyed Decepticon - Corvette logo on wheels looks like Mazda logo from any distance farther than 10 feet - What's with the scaffolding keeping the passenger from being able to touch the center stack? This might all have been said in this thread, these were just the comments being tossed around the office today.
  5. Depends how much coverage you need. I need 200k liability which runs me $13/mo through Geico. It was the same when I was with Progressive, I actually think they use the same company to bundle their renters with their auto policy.
  6. I'd start a conservative talk radio station that echoes Alex Jones style. I'd be a multimillionaire, but I'd hate myself.
  7. I certainly realize this, but it all comes down to simple math that most people can't be bothered to do because they THINK it's complicated. Example: $100k remaining balance on mortgage with a 4% annual interest rate, remaining time on loan is 20 years. Based on a simple interest calculator, you'll see that over the course of 20 years you will pay $80k in interest if you make minimum monthly payments. If, however, you have an investment that you can be certain will net you greater than $80k over the course of 20 years, it makes more sense to keep that $100k and invest it rather than pay off the mortgage. Yes, the bank gets to make money off you, but the opportunity cost of preventing that may be too great. Of course, that is a ceteris paribus example. Reality doesn't work that way, but it's at least worth a consideration.
  8. 1) The Constitution protects your right to bear arms. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say you are independently allowed to determine appropriate use of lethal force when it comes to defending your rights. If someone doesn't allow you to freely practice your religion, do you have the right to kill them? No. 2) There is a significant misunderstanding of the 10th Amendment. It doesn't say that if States don't like a Federal law, they don't have to enforce it. See Cooper v Aaron.
  9. In some cases, paying off the house or car may not be the best idea. I.e. if you have an excellent interest rate, your money could actually earn you a better return on interest if it were invested in something else.
  10. Totally unrelated to the OP, but this should excite even the fairest weather of F1 fans. http://willthef1journo.wordpress.com/2013/01/11/ive-seen-the-future-and-it-is-awesome/
  11. Hitler also didn't smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol. If you don't spend every minute smoking and drinking, you are therefore supportive of Hitler's way of life.
  12. Posting for a coworker. He's looking for a good deal on a new or lightly used PS3. What ya got?
  13. If it's posted on the internet, it must be true. WHY WOULD SOMEONE LIE ON THE INTERNET THAT'S JUST RIDICULOUS. The biggest thing I'm fed up with on BOTH sides of political spectrum on a variety of legislative issues is the "if it saves one life" bullshit statement. 1) You're not fucking saving a life. You're putting off death for a little while. Get it fucking straight. 2) Have you never been to an economics class? Nothing is free. To "save one life", a lot must be given up, and in many cases it can result in others losing lives. The example I love to use is that if Rick Santorum's wife hadn't had an abortion, she would be dead.
  14. They're not a car dealership, they're not going to answer your questions. Not trying to be an asshole, that's just the truth.
  15. BMW designers from 1998 called, they want their clown shoe back.
  16. He had to, because he realized halfway through "I'LL BE WEARING THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE" that those are the Union Jack's colors too.
  17. For someone who doesn't trust the tyrannical government, he sure does like to use FBI statistics to supplement his argument.
  18. I've been a victim of an armed robbery in my residence. Guys followed me up the stairs, pushed me into my apartment with guns to my head, took as much cash and electronics as they could get in the minute they were there, and then booked it. When the door closed, my roommate and I each grabbed our guns (which we were lucky they didn't find) and waited. We no longer had phones with which to call police. We sat and waited in case we had to DEFEND ourselves until we were reasonably certain they had left and weren't returning. We didn't chase them down, and we sure as fuck didn't even open the door to see where they were in case they were waiting for us. IMO the act of discharging a firearm is by definition, an offensive action. In any case other than someone currently putting your life in danger via offensive action (holding a gun to your head, brandishing a knife, driving a car at you), I don't think discharging a firearm can be classified as "self defense". I think, as well, that the law sees it this way in most cases. What Austin said above me is absolutely correct, but those are LEOs who vigorously train in the use of deadly force, and who we pay to have a different set of standards and expectations in the use of such force. Joe Citizen doesn't have the same rights in using deadly force as a LEO. Even disregarding that, any LEO worthy of his badge will tell you that discharging a firearm is an absolute last resort.

  20. America, where if you think differently you don't belong. That's what the founding fathers would've said, right? Joe McCarthy was a founding father, right?
  21. I still have yet to read a response as to why the alleged gunman should be deprived of his right to a trial by jury of his peers.
  22. There needs to be ACCURATE press when guns save lives. To me there are 2 possibilities in this scenario. 1) Robber actually did turn around, victim's and son's life were in danger, and proper use of a firearm did indeed save their lives. Case closed, guns do serve a purpose when used by trained coherent people. 2) Robber didn't turn around, and the shooting was vindictive. This is NOT an example of guns saving lives, and instead will have the opposite of the intended effect of showing that guns are helpful. Instead, it will continue to worry people like me who are gun supporters but don't like the idea of our country becoming like the wild west, where justice is dispensed by individuals a few grams of lead at a time. Remember, the Constitution that protects your right to bear arms also protects everyone's right to a fair and impartial trial by a jury of your peers.
