  1. You touched on it briefly, but I think the crux of the issue is where the money goes. When the DEA seizes drug money it goes into funding their future operations. When people go to prison it takes money out of more important programs and funds prisons, both private and gov't owned. You take those 2 revenue streams and change them to taxable income, all of a sudden you can fund schools, mental health initiatives, health care, all things that IMO lead to less drug abuse than over-funding the DEA. Additionally, when the DEA swoops in and nails a source of drug revenue, that leaves open a vacuum in that area that other criminal enterprises will fill; it's a never-ending cycle. However, when drugs are legalized, there is less incentive for the criminal elements to participate as it's a more competitive, less profitable market. To recap: more money in positive gov't programs less money to criminals fewer minor offenders in jail sunshine & rainbows, braahhh
  2. We're 10 years removed but my dad's 2003 530i Sport was a huge disappointment to him. Custom ordered Euro delivery car, liked it for a few months and then realized he hated the transmission and that's the whole reason he special ordered it. They got a 2011 1-series and love it, but said that's the end of their BMW purchases, they're sick of the brand.

  4. I ain't mad I just had a lot of time during our annual sales meeting :lolguy: Focus ST comes with some of the best/worst tires I've ever driven on. Got 20k out of them driving normally, and they were useless in the rain. Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2.
  5. Because people buy both cars for the 1/4 mile times In the C&D comparison, they ended up putting the FoST in first ahead of the MK6 GTI. MK7 beats the FoST in a later test. Road & Track seemed to think the FoST was quite a bit better performer than the MK6 and the MS3. GTI Slalom was done at 64.9mph avg, FoST slalom averaged 65.8 mph. In R&T and MT tests, FoST pulled .96g and .97g respectively on the skidpad. MK6 pulled .90g for R&T, and MK7 did .96g for MT. Oh and the 14.6 sec 1/4 mile MT did for the Focus? Same test they got 15.0 from the MK6. EDIT: @imurobgyn, Focus definitely overrated the HP numbers, but significantly underrated torque. RallySportDirect dynoed theirs straight from factory and got something like 290lbft at the wheels. Obviously just one car of many, but it indicated quite a jump from the rating of 270. End of they day I've driven both extensively and feel the Focus is a more fun car to drive.
  6. I sell cars for a living. Not to say that a lot of it isn't personal opinion, but as someone who spends all day every day getting in and out of various cars of various years, I can say with near absolute certainty that, compared to the average car in the market, Mazdas are a bit worse on NVH. They have come a LONG way since their mid 2000s offerings though.
  7. Call it a boy racer all you want, if the RS putting 300hp to all 4 wheels, is tuneable, and is faster than an STi I'd rock the boy racer mobile all fuckin day. And it's looking like all of those are likely WANT.
  8. While that Mazda6 is certainly a nice car, Mazda might be the worst brand possible for comfort. They pack their cars with tons of nice features and technology, and they're competitive in the market pricewise, but for every nice feature they give you they take away some sound deadening, or some seat bolstering or some other physical comfort feature. I like Mazda as a brand, but it's the opposite of luxury and comfort. That's why I understand the apprehension for the Hyundai suggestions; they're typically the same in that regard as Mazda, but their luxury offerings break the mold and are really surprising. Now that I say it that way, I imagine if Mazda attempted to make a $50-70k executive sedan it'd be fucking awesome.
  9. While I'm totally that guy too, especially with the Equus, my buddy got a Genesis V8 and damn that's a really nice car. I had a Hyundai Santa Fe for a while and I hated it. At the end of the day, the value proposition of the high end Hyundais is unbeatable. Shit, LeBron drives a Kia K900 and HE approached Kia about a sponsorship deal because he enjoyed the car so much. Not like it's the only car he drives, but I think that says something about what they're delivering.
  10. It's not the must fuel-efficient choice, but it's $10k less than the 5-series, more on par with 7-series level luxury and space, someone else has taken $40k of the depreciation. Hyundai Equus doesn't have the badge appeal but if you're saving $10-15k over a SMALLER, LESS EQUIPPED BMW or Audi, who the hell cares? Or go for a Genesis if the Equus is too big.
  11. The big advantage over the FRPP tune is that Cobb/SCT can be calibrated for other mods, especially when you swap out the IC which is a huge choke point for this car.
  12. Not sure who locally does them but I'm interested as well. focusst.org is a good resource.
  13. I honestly wonder how it's not painfully obvious to see through his BS on there. What's even more amazing is to see a guy with a $200k+ car make the same excuses as an idiot with a $2000 base Eclipse GS as to why he won't race.
  14. One time I pulled out my fire hose to try and help and now I'm not allowed within 1000 yards of schools.
  15. Winner :lolguy: IIRC They've already done a 2000hp (race gas) car that blew up. Since they're a professional shop they probably do either/or, depending on what their (non-imaginary) customers want.
  16. He's braggin about making 1200hp on pump gas and I guarantee he's got half a million tied up in "The Stog" (which I'm now permanently attaching as that abomination's nickname) between all the money he spends on it and other "business" ventures that are related.
  17. You're doing something wrong when your car looks more expensive than the space in which you're working. And that space looks like it's located in Pripyat.
  18. I wouldn't worry until they start dropping things on your neighborhood. That happened when I lived right near there. Geographically it's somewhat close to the Hilltop so we had choppers flying overhead all the time. I got used to it, never bothered me.
  19. Sorry man, sold this morning. Check out Focusst.org there are always 1 or 2 for sale there. Mods lock it up please.
  20. This post is the definition of schadenfreude. Bravo. I'm not a high end car owner or tuner by any means but I've worked with a couple in my line of work (Studio 47 for example) and every time I've walked in, I get the feeling that I'm in a museum rather than a shop because of how pristine all the walls, floors, bays, etc are.
