My son is nine years old, born just before I turned 18. My wife was 21. (We weren't married until I was 20) I can say without question that he is the reason my wife and I are celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary today. However, being older and wiser would have served me well in my son's early years.. I missed a lot because I wanted to act my age. Maybe I'm way off base here, but no one has asked yet; so I will. Did this repair fix the problem? If so, I can't see why anyone feels the belt(s) should not have been replaced. Even if the only problem was the tension being improperly set, wear on the belt which you may not be able to see can increase the belt's inside diameter; meaning it should be replaced. Belt distortion (also not something that you can usually see without proper tension on the belt) could have been an issue. How long has the engine been in this truck? If it ever had a belt replaced with one of an improper length, that could also cause this kind of problem. Not sticking up for anyone, just my two cents.

Wouldn't have done you a lot of good. It won't display codes on screen, only print them when hooked up to APAL. (Their computer system) Yes, you could emulate it... but why bother? It doesn't scan live, and only pulls powertrain codes... that's why they don't care.
