You need to do videos on how you make these knives. I'd definitely watch that.

Political Thread Of Fail And AIDS (Geeto ahead!)
zeitgeist57 replied to BStowers023's topic in Dumpster
Just no more Trump, and that's all I give you. Honestly, I skimmed that gobbledy-gook you just typed about McCarthyism-or-something and responded to pointed questions. Dems and Third Parties have to provide a compelling candidate and story...and I will be very open to hearing it if Trump's presidency soldiers on to 2019 and the next election cycle. Most likely, Trump will run for re-election in 2020 and that's where I'm drawing a line with "Never again". I'll leave it up to you wacky "CR pundits" to fight over every issue from now until then because I have neither the time, energy, or interest in doing similarly. -

<<<2016 Trump voter here (more anti-Hilary than pro-Trump). Never again. I can't keep up with the unnecessary noise around him....and then he cannot or will not defend himself sufficiently by press conference or Twitter. Srsly, lost it with his presidency. I thought noise (just or unjustly) around Obama was bad but this hornet's nest isn't dying down anytime soon and I have ZERO faith his patchwork cabinet can clean up the mess. [devilsadvocate] If it's not Trump's fault - if he's doing all the right things and we all just can't see it - then our society isn't prepared to handle his level of genius. [/devilsadvocate] I'm out. PLEASE don't fake news me, bro....he controls his own off-the-cuff comments and his own TWITTER FEED and he still can't get out from under his own words. -

That's...gotta be staged/scripted.

Were you listening to NPR today? I was just telling my lunch meeting that this old dude from Perkins Observatory was on "All Sides" and they heard the same show! The guy specifically said that most welder's glass is a Shade 10. He did say the same thing...must be a Shade 14. I need to check my adjustable helmet because I thought there was at least a #13 on the knob....although it's Harbor Freight, so there's my trust in that. FYI, this Perkins Observatory expert made me pretty excited for the eclipse: - Columbus will have 85% totality, meaning that it's going to get DARK. If it's a cloudy day, it'll get dark enough for the street lights to come on, and crickets to start up. - Once we get full penumbra for about 2.5 minutes, the temperature is going to drop precipitously and the wind is going to pick up. I've unfortunately got some work meetings planned for Monday, but I'll try to keep the afternoon open. Sounds like the one in 2024 is going to be great as well!

Man, that is a GREAT call...would be awesome if it did because I have 3 of those.

No pets. All wood/tile floors with some area rugs.

http://deals.kinja.com/lifes-too-short-for-vacuuming-pawn-it-off-to-a-robot-1797712540 Anyone use an iRobot or Roomba vacuum? I'd like to outsource at least 90% of this job. Wondering if this is something that other people use?

My understanding is that your local library may be giving away glasses starting next week. I know UA is starting August 16th and someone told me Columbus Metro Library might. If you're in Delaware maybe check to see if Perkins Observatory does anything or one of the local colleges?

I've been on CR for 15 years...this gets discussed ALOT (especially in winter, where it's cold and alot of us OG CR guys back in the day were still lying on cold concrete working on DD's and fun cars). I certainly think this is a great idea, but knowing a few guys with shops and private garages, you are always having to monitor tools/parts, make sure equipment is used correctly, and cleaning up spills/shavings/packaging. Even with these generous resources available to me, I still end up doing 99% of my own work or paying a guy with a shop to do it. Do you see how ultimately you'll be just competing against other shops to make sure your bays are making enough money first before you rent out space? It'll end up being like every other greasemonkey garage.... This goes right up there with a place like HOONIGAN at Long Beach, where you literally have guys with a cot or couch just sh!t/showering/shaving at the garage. I've got a 2000 Cadillac Eldorado in my driveway with no front end because a buddy is trying to take the Northstar V8 to swap into his Fiero. This thing has been sitting all summer taking up space. I'm still OK with it, but if this was a bay that you were paying money for you'd have a really tough time with this guy....and you make no money....and then he sh!ts all over you on FB.... Just seems like a lot of noise.

Fab 5 Freddy will instruct you through today's Google Doodle how to set up two turntables and scratch.:megusta::megusta: I've got work to do...can't be messing with this today.

You will, but it will only be partial. Iit'll be a large penumbra so we will still be lucky enough to experience something. Still debating what I'll be doing that day. I remember there being a partial solar eclipse when I was in 5th or 6th grade in Cleveland (so that would've been 1990?) and seeing the sky get dimmer was still pretty amazing. The glasses we were given and other things our science teachers did (hole in a board projecting onto the ground, different telescope lenses) were all very memorable for me.

I have definitely been following this. Would be cool to travel down to TN to check it out in the Smoky Mountains. Also great to know that one is coming through Ohio in 2024 (though one could easily argue that Cleveland around April 8th will undoubtedly be cloudy ). I have to say this picture is depressing as we can only hope to live long enough to witness some of these other eclipses in the future. https://www.greatamericaneclipse.com/future/

It does seem that - aside from battery capacity degradation over time - a used Model S makes all the sense in the world. Aside from interior/body damage, you need to worry about brakes, tires, and suspension...and largely that's it. Can't wait to see the aftermarket "hot rod" battery packs or provide with an improved solution...with solid hardware, there's no reason why a Model S cannot go 500k miles easier than an internal-combustion automobile.

http://jalopnik.com/newish-electric-cars-are-coming-off-lease-and-oh-my-god-1790593342 Electric cars, for now, are significantly cheaper on the used market as the market figures out what the demand curve looks like. Tesla definitely holds value better, but the depreciation relative to the wear-and-tear is high. Riiiiiiight.....and I'm not working because I need the money right now, I'm just improving my retirement nest egg. OF COURSE HE NEEDS THE MONEY NOW. They're burning through cash!!!
-
That's a smart option. Tesla will leverage a strong market cap to get favorable credit terms in the bond market - a lot of banks wanting to underwrite an offering like this for a company like Tesla, I'm sure.

Was talking about this at brunch yesterday - you cannot deny the amazing success Elon and Tesla have had through amazing vision turned into well-executed, next-generation products. Even NPR was talking this morning on my way into work about SolarCity roofs being launched ($23/sq.ft!) with a lot of excitement. I've balanced the hype with the products: I am a huge fan of Tesla, and wouldn't bet against Elon to get something done once he sets his mind to it. I think the underground tunnel is a weird one though... The only 2 things I'm concerned with for the Model 3's production numbers: 1) Limits on the resources needed for batteries - seems like China is controlling most of the heavy industrial metals, chemicals, and precious materials needed to build batteries for 500k+ cars. 2) Unionization - This has largely been squashed every time it comes up, but if some 20th-century labor union tries to control Tesla's factories, you can kiss the economics of a $40k Tesla goodbye. I'm sure Elon can't automate as much of the assembly process as he possibly could quick enough.

Props to you as usual, Tim! Even in a lighter-abuse situation all of us minivan dads know how dirty these things get after the 100k mark. I did the Scrubbing Bubbles treatment to our Odyssey interior (plastic, carpet, vinyl/leather seats with leather conditioner afterwards) but seems to me that a good steam/soft brush treatment will remove more oils/dirt without abrasion to surfaces, so long as the steam is not concentrated enough to damage surfaces or loosen adhesives (like headliners).
