  2. I get that DI engines are far more fuel efficient, but I cannot help but see commuter vehicles - especially bland white/silver sedans like the Fusion, Sonata, Avalon, etc. - where the stylized chrome exhaust and/or rear bumper is all sooted up like a diesel vehicle that's been rolling coal. Curious if anyone knows what "trade-off" we've made from an environmental/engineering standpoint, replacing fuel efficiency for a noticably sootier exhaust. Is it a visual cue that I don't need to worry about? I already know about many performance DI engines needing walnut-shell treatments to clean carbon buildup out of intake manifolds and valves. Just a thought...
  3. Kerry brings up some good points above...I want to say that Engine Masters (Dave Freiburger's YT engine-dyno series) did a 305 buildup?? and it did seem like a lot of work/$$ for not a lot of HP. Not that it was your plan anyway, but you're getting confirmation from CR to just throw an exhaust on that thing and cruise it out.
  4. Nothing wrong with a casual cruiser that looks this good. Get it sounding right and enjoy the rest of this great season we're having! I honestly can't think of anything else I would do to a car like that aside from lowering it just a bit and putting on a cat-back, like you said. Maybe upgrading the stereo a bit.
  5. Thank you, Tim. I sent some love to my aunt and spoke to my mom this morning; will always remember my uncle on 9/11. It's interesting how many memories fade with time and age but I will always remember this day. Irma focused a lot of people's attention over the last week and especially this weekend, but this is one thing I'll NEVER FORGET.

    IT

    Well played on her part.
  7. 2000 car with only 70k miles on it...TOO SCARED TO BE SEEN IN PUBLIC WITH IT.
  8. Truck so big the pictures have to reflect the size! Very nice! Congratulations!
  9. Congratulations on a great trade! The look of the 3rd-gens is aging well, especially the later years.
  10. Are you worried that the uniball in the new control arm may get gunky and corroded? Doesn't seem to be very weather-tight. Like Heim joints...I remember hearing that they aren't really meant for winter/rainy weather, unless you're OK with rebuilding them.
  11. Yeaaaaahh...I draw the line at HF spring compressors. Not much better, but AutoZone loan-a-tool is an alternative. Looking forward to build progress!
  12. Was watching Matt Farah on TheSmokingTire over the last few days race cars at GRIDLIFE, thinking....what is this "gridlife" that all the kids are talking about these days? http://jalopnik.com/gridlife-is-the-bombastic-proof-that-youth-car-culture-1801759050 http://www.grid.life/news/2017/6/18/gridlife-midwest-2017-record-crushing-coming-of-age Anyone go to these events? Sounds like my weekend at Sebring for ALMS back in 2007. Racing, racing, racing...but with a non-stop, off-track party going on as well. My kind of event!

  14. I'm with yenner on this one...that response is proof enough that Kerry has never been in a fight. Which would explain why I was asking the guy who claimed to be a 1-punch KO'er what his angle was. Not Kerry.
  15. Srs question, as I've never had to throw a defensive/offensive punch in my life either (I tassled with family, fraternity brothers, etc...) Do you go uppercut to the jaw, punch to break the nose, or go for the jawbone/temple/ear? I'd like to know where to connect if I also want to 1-punch my way out of a situation...
  16. DJ, which would you choose? What makes you want to ask that question? Because my choice - since I am being asked this specific question from a friend - would honestly to look you in the eye (if we were face-to-face), call that loaded question a B.S. racial positioning tool, and refuse to answer it.
  17. Did you work it out with the wife?
  18. Looks like "Molly" from Gingium. Love that color and that look!
  19. M at Miranova. Guessing it'll be pricier though... Does the 2nd floor at North Market have a meeting room?
  20. Thanks a lot, guys. I appreciate the feedback. - I don't do these things just to save money (though I can't imagine how much a crew would charge to pour a concrete pad, install carport), but to control the process as much as I can. It's engineered to be DIY, so just a few process points and it was relatively simple; just very time-consuming and definitely a workout on my body...and my truck! - Any feedback on where I can get barn wood, or "mid-century modern" inspired siding options for cheap would be great, like Shaun's suggestion for aluminum slats/trim. Not in a rush to do that, but it would add a classy touch to the finished product. Roofing panels are done! Need to clean up the mud, leftover rocks, and power-wash the driveway for finished pics. I'm also thinking about some LED lighting options. Lastly, it's worth mentioning that the money I saved by doing this myself, I'm putting towards a professional resurface of the asphalt driveway. Most people use Golden Bear Blacktop, but I'd be happy to have a friend-of-CR do it...
