Tim, I love ya bro...but you know I can't give up on Cleetus. I've got my own rusty-trusty TEE-RUK to work on. Changed your title. GLWS!

It doesn't hurt to offer $1500, and see where he ends up. I wouldn't go higher than $2k, especially if you're going to eventually pull the 305. Watch "Engine Masters" latest video on Motor Trend's YT channel...they got a ton of power off of a cast 350 with H/C/I...

Make sure in the first section where you're checking to see if your number is already in there, that you don't use any dashes or parentheses. I redid mine as a straight, no-spacing 10-digit phone number and it worked.

I'll go take a look. Brown house two spots in from Grace?
-
Well, too bad because you are already in the Truecaller system. ...and full disclosure, it wasn't me. You were already listed in their directory. Mineola, NY?

If it's 2WD, the value should be through the floor ($750-1500?). Granted, the last 4 beater 2WD tee-ruks I've had since 2002 have all been fine in the snow and ice, especially with a set of snowtires. $3500 for anything less than a fully-intact representative of the breed is too much. Plus, I would go south or west if possible to ensure minimal rust. This thing has 250k on the chassis!!! WTF??? Also, agree with Steve...for $3500 I'd better have working A/C and maybe even cruise control to make it comfy for DD use if I wanted.

http://jalopnik.com/drag-racing-explosion-almost-takes-out-cameraman-1798392054 This wasn't you, was it bud? Alaska is quite the assignment from a drag-racing standpoint...would've sucked to also get a compressor housing to the dome.

That's a good price, and the addition of drip trays, a jack tray, and ramps for that price makes it look even better.

I DL'd Truecaller and an incoming call didn't say anything. Is it supposed to be automatic? Should I reboot the phone? Kerry, WTF are you talking about? I'm aware of the privacy concerns, but don't you have a corporate portal like the Good app?

Boo....GET ANOTHER ONE!!!! (Just wait until I'm done with the Fiero V8 swap and the carport so I can get it past the wifey) #toomanyprojects

I met two of UA's building inspectors. Despite all the holes being deep enough, I admittedly didn't widen the footer columns to manufacturer-spec 18". Some were more than enough, but 2-3 of the 6 holes were constrained by roots or rocks from me making it wide enough. They failed me. BUT...they said if I can get the holes widened, they will come out for free to final inspect. My shoulders are burning from being up late last night with a spud bar and post-hole digger THE HOLES ARE WIDE ENOUGH NOW...

No. Overview on what that is? If it helps, I'll look into it.

Yes...looking at my history I get nearly one call a day from (614)363-62xx. I also get calls now from the same area code and prefix (first 3 numbers) as my own cell number, so I really have to just send stuff to my VM and hope legit callers leave a VM. I talk to a lot of people and this is how they operate as well. It's funny how cellphone voicemails will probably make a comeback in 2017+, thanks to this garbage.

Srsly, f**k this phone number. I get SOOOOOOO many spam phone calls on my cell phone I have trouble fielding any call from a number I don't recognize. Anyone else having that problem? I swear I've submitted my number to the Do Not Call Registry. Such a pain in the arse.

Lower-Octane knock? (could be rattling exhaust)
zeitgeist57 replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Tech and Tips
Aluminum head, yes. Good to know. When I had the head off last time, the studs all came out with no issue which surprised me. Still, with rusting and heat cycling, I worry... I'll TIG weld the collector first...see if that holds. -
uhh...that hood is unfortunate. I get the need for clearance, but yikes...

Political Thread Of Fail And AIDS (Geeto ahead!)

Didn't see from the article if the head of the statue was still there... There is no call for random acts of vandalism. Register to stage a peaceful protest; it's your right to do so as a citizen. All this did is just call up bad press, and make an organization that maintains the cemetary to fix a statue with money it doesn't have allocated to FIXING A STATUE. -
Lower-Octane knock? (could be rattling exhaust)
zeitgeist57 replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Tech and Tips
You're right, Kerry...the collector definitely needs to be repaired. However, if the crack on the collector is upstream from the O2 sensor, wouldn't it be reading lean - either from the introduction of outside air or escape of unburnt fuel through the crack - cause the engine to run rich? I've definitely kept an eye on E36 318 headers...but the mixed-bag of responses (at best) makes me question investing $90 in a "stainless steel header" that still: 1) Requires exhaust studs in the head. If one of the old ones breaks off in the head when I'm removing the factory manifold....it'll be a lot of unnecessary work and cost to extract. Plus I still have to get the new hardware. 2) Good number of stories about the welds on chinaBay headers leaking from the factory. Dumb to ditch a cracked factory pipe for a cracked china joint. 3) Dubious fitment - would suck to have to cut/weld a brand new header. 4) I toyed with the idea of getting rid of the cat, but I'm getting old...I still like my street cars low and loud, just not stinky. http://www.ebay.com/itm/STAINLESS-STEEL-4-1-HEADER-FOR-89-96-BMW-E30-E36-318-Z3-4CYL-EXHAUST-MANIFOLD-/391867187181?hash=item5b3d1abfed:g:jUMAAOSwruhZjkHI&vxp=mtr I have a friend (you know the guy) offering use of a TIG or MIG and a lift to fix the collector. I MIG'd it before with my HF flux-core...yeeeeeeeaaaaahhhhh, that didn't seal. I'll try to seal and re-gasket the collector and reinstall at the header first to see if that lasts before going eBay/Amazon... -
Lower-Octane knock? (could be rattling exhaust)

It was tough to focus on a spark plug at night, but they definitely look baked! No carbon, and looked like some scorching on the electrodes and ceramic... -
Car: 1995 BMW 318i 'vert - 5spd, 1.8L M42B18 with an Apexcone SS exhaust system. I've been listening to Jalopnik and a few other articles saying that it's a waste of money using higher octane gas on cars not requiring it. My CTS-V and BMW have been getting 92-93 pump gas since I've owned them, and never BP. V is rated for "premium gas" and the BMW's cap says to use "Min 89 AKI". I filled up the V one time with regular unleaded when I made a 300+mile round trip to NE Ohio and back, figuring I'd just be cruising the highway. Last time I'll do that...power was way down. However, I recently switched to 89 octane (mid-grade, never lower) on my BMW, and while there is a pretty large exhaust leak that needs to be repaired from a crack in the collector ahead of the O2 sensor, the car has always ran fine. After the switch to 89oct, once the engine is warm, and I'm entering the parking garage downtown, I notice the slightest rattle that sounds almost like knocking/detonation. I can't hear anything otherwise, because the exhaust is too loud; I only hear it when I'm rolling into the garage because of the concrete walls. Aside from knocking, can an exhaust leak or loose exhaust mimic the sound of knocking off idle? I didn't notice it before recently. It's a pre-OBDII car so I'm not sure how to diagnose if there's an actual knocking problem.
-
Same here. Look for the suit downtown that's wearing a HF welding mask in Columbus Commons.

I know a guy that wants to get a Quick-Jack...we might as well go 3-ways in on one, keep it at your house, and the 3 of us can share it.

Tom did some car guys a favor selling off his fleet of C4s. I miss driving my '95 C4 but definitely not working on it. Curse the LTx engines and their Optispark ignition systems! LS-swap FTW on this one. Enjoy the car! That digital dash is perfect for a red, '80s sports car!!!
-
That's awesome! I admit, aside from a stock CTS-V I don't even have a car that'll get to 160mph, let alone one in a half-mile.

Joe on here gave me a Sony head-unit that I was going to use for my truck but it's still in the box. You can have it, but it doesn't have a faceplate (removable). It is a nice Xplod unit from a few years back.
