  1. Dizzam. What city is the shop located?
  2. ^^^I'm sure Joe would be happy to take donations in lieu of you enrolling in some trumped-up course.
  3. Yup. Just visiting...I'll be back in Columbus on Thursday. Try to make it out to Cars and Coffee some Saturday...say hi to a lot of the CR regulars. Hope to meet you soon!
  4. My guess is it's a small crack in the thermoplastic - either in one of the hose couplings, or where the aluminum fins connect to the plastic radiator cores. If the engine stays warm - and the crack is small enough - I would imagine the cracks stay relatively tight and coolant that weeps may evaporate. Let it cool down, and the crack opens enough for a small amount to leak out.
  5. Welcome! '07 V here. What's your other Caddy? :pics:
  6. Welcome! Oddly enough, I'm typing this from Naples...not sure where you were living. We used to live here for a few years and come down as much as we can. Ohio is a great place to raise a family - but don't lose your SWFL connections Welcome again to the site!
  7. Dood...that thing is badass. Goshawk? "Goose Hawk"???
  8. 2nd picture: are the fake quarter-panel vents installed backwards? 3rd picture: are the foglights in the grille $9 Tractor Supply lights I installed on a Cub Cadet mower?
  9. There's a Cruise to the Hocking Hills tomorrow morning! Check out FB...
  10. LOL. Paul's efforts put my car maintenance to shame.
  11. Gentlemen, you're all spot on. I was replicating the issue and found it to be LOUD...but intermittent. Turns out the Idler pulley is super chunky and the belt is worn. There's a seperate ribbed belt for the A/C pulley (which I didn't replace last year) so I'll make sure to replace those two items. Thank you!:thumbup:
  12. Not that I can hear. There's a good amount of rotating assembly noise these days. If there is any noise, definitely not as bad as when the clutch engages.
  13. My '95 BMW is running like a champ. Today when I drove to Marion, Findlay and back, I was using A/C, and the car was very comfortable. However, once I got off the highway, I heard what sounded like hissing under the hood, and it was RPM-specific. I could feel the compressor engaging and disconnecting, but when I turned down the stereo, I realized it was an occasional squealing/slipping noise. Admittedly, I haven't had a chance yet to look at whats going on underhood, but would this jibe with just the A/C clutch going out? (A/C still engages and blows cold, but compressor occasionally makes noise). Of course, I'm hoping it's just the A/C clutch, and not the compressor. How do I diagnose the system?
  14. I used Sam Shamansky over 10 years ago for...something. Great attorney that knows the law and the people in the legal/judicial system locally. I don't envy the legal position he's in now. Didn't I hear somewhere that, since there were a few convictions over the last few years, even teenagers that video/photo an 'encounter' of any sort and transmit it via social media can be charged for distribution?
  15. I spent 20 seconds Googling "LS400 Starter Motor" and I see why it's so expensive: it's a RockAuto $125 motor, but one of those mounted-in-the-engine-valley-under-the-intake-manifold fixes. Great info, folks! I appreciate it. For the longest time I loved old Mercedes W123/W126 chassis, but it's very evident that Lexus used that benchmark when designing the LS400, and it seems like a very solid platform provided the maintenance is up to snuff. I'll communicate a few points above to my buddy.
  16. Hey, Austin...can you work on R-12 systems? The Lincoln is also not running A/C...was very weak in the fall and now doesn't kick on so I knew this was coming. Noebull on Kenny/Henderson by Kahoots took a look at it and said they could do a Freon evac, leak test, reseal and recharge with R-134 for $200. I'm sure if the condenser/evaporator are leaking that's of course extra, but I'd be intadested in having you guys give it a shot...
  17. A friend is looking at picking up this used LS400 in Naples. High miles, but I've seen Matt Farah's "Million Mile Lexus" so I'm assuming that with good maintenance these LS400's hold up really well. The thing looks amazing for the age/use. http://www.mercedesexpert.com/inventory/view/8889502/1992-Lexus-LS-400-4dr-Sedan-Auto-Naples-FL Any ongoing issues with this model? I have no experience with the platform, but got asked as a "car-friend" to opine. Thanks!
  18. Everything happens for a reason, wags...good for you hanging in there. Congratulations again!
  19. Thank you for asking, Ben! A wasp the size of a small Cessna flew into the Lincoln. Srsly, this bish was huge. My daughter used to grab stinkbugs with her bare hands when she was 2 or 3. Now, at 7, she hates bugs. Funny thing was the youth pastor from our church was there. His son took a folded-up paper and squished it...unfortunately halfway down the weatherstripping on the back window. mangled dried-out carcass is still there...
  20. BUMP - Austin, you're in if you can make it. 5:30 to 8pm south Drive-In 3050 N High St, Columbus 43207 Food and drink provided. Questions/last-minute cars? 614-992-2529
  21. Just saw that Hilliard meet late on FB... How was it?
