  1. I would like you not bothering with the wheels, and refinishing/painting the factory mesh wheels. More important to get the overall appearance of the whole car tightened up than get new wheels...Still love the look!

  6. I'm not a fan of "quid pro quo" in a marriage: it's about communication and compromise, NOT trade-offs. Have her drive it and see if she likes it. If your wife is half as opinionated as mine is, she'll give you a slight indication that it hits her buttons. If it doesn't, F the Hellcat and realize that you'll never buy one unless you want her pissed at you. Chrysler LOL anyways. If she does like the car, tell her you really like it as well and eventually you want to buy one. BOOM: shared goal set. She'll give you silly pragmatic reasons why you shouldn't buy it. Work on good answers to those questions...take your time. Respect her thoughts. Then, wait for the RIGHT one to come up: right color, right deal (sticker price LOL) and make it happen. Set up the deal. Arrange financing/transportation if necessary. THEN let her know you're buying the car. She'll have questions but won't ever say no. You mitigated any doubts on the car when she asked questions before. I don't believe clothes(car) makes the man, but your actions in accomplishing a goal like that will create momentum that she can't stop, and she will be impressed when you pull it off. As a side benefit to the new car you love, she will impart her own love onto the vehicle, and reward you for getting her such a nice gift. :masturboy: Ask me how I know.
  7. Went to Cleveland on Sunday, back yesterday, and out and about the rest of the time. THINGS I'VE LEARNED: - Everyone loves the V. From the church parking lot... to on the highway... to the gas station downtown this morning, people comment on the car. EGO RECHARGED. :fuckyeah: - This bish is THURSTY. A 4-cylinder BMW this thing ain't. I dunno what part of Nebraska people drive, but it would take a tankful of fuel at 65mph in 6th gear to get this thing to see 26MPG average. At least in 6th I can dump the gas and pull away from almost any speed with no engine hesitation. Try THAT in an RX-8 with the same (if not worse) MPG rating... - I absolutely love the sound of a 6.0L LSx with a Magnaflow exhaust. It is mellow at cruise, barks when you get on it, and burbles perfectly when you engine brake. As if the acceleration wasn't awesome enough, I get a smile every. f**king. time. I get on it. 4th gear is good for an extremely strong 40-120mph sprint... - The dash is plastic fantastic, and the 2007(2004?) navigation is laughable (really will never use it over my phone), but the seats, steering wheel, Bose stereo and everything else is very nice and comfortable. A wonderful cabin to cruise in on a long highway jaunt @ 72-76mph. - I am in love with the CTS-V. When this thing dies, I'll get an '09-'14 and continue to enjoy the lineage as long as they keep putting manual transmissions in this lineup. - Speaking of manny tranny, the shifter was absolutely horrible over the last couple of days with zero "in-center-neutral" spring feel and tough gear engagement...but this morning it almost totally fixed itself. Engine/transmission mounts stiffening up in the cold? - I thought my kids would be all giggly as much as I am everytime we ride in it. CHUCK TESTA. Gaddamn iPad "instant gratification" fleeting-thought kids these days... - My wife may love it more than I do. She drove last night and I felt like that YouTube video of Darryl Waltrip @ Bathurst. She was bishing that I "babied" it. - This one may be in my mind, but it really does seem like a lot of people in pedestrian cars want a piece of me on the highway. I got chased by a couple of Accords, a Prius, a few bro tee-ruks, and other assorted plebian vehicular appliances. I say "chased", because no one ever passed me. The car brings out a dark side in me when I'm driving around. - This is definitely the biggest car I think I'd ever want to buy. My Passat is smaller on the outside but definitely feel bigger on the interior. Not a knock on the CTS per say, just that I'm definitely used to '90s/2000 cars that are a LOT smaller than modern stuff. I <3 U, V. :masturboy:
  8. Looking for scrap angle iron to weld to a semi tire to make an elevated fire pit for a campout in October. Hoping for appx 4 2" lengths, but I can cold saw whatever lengths I get to what I need. Please advise if anyone knows where to pick up scrap, or good steel at a fair price. Looking for 1x1 or 2x2, as long as it's appx 1/4" or greater. Thank you!
  9. NOOOOO!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO CASEY'S MESSAGE? I DON'T KNOW WHAT HE WAS GOING TO SAY  That's great to hear. I like their website...nice to know all the poly pieces I would need are on that site. Car feels SOLID aside from the powertrain shiftiness and shifter...
  10. Thanks, Brian. Good news is the kit was free from my neighbor. IPS is getting a call for headlights, a tune, and I think the motor and tranny mounts are toast just from the way it drives.
  11. Great wagon, Brian! Look forward to seeing it at CC&C soon...
  12. Great to hear. Thanks, Casey. Sad to not see the V in your sig... ...and on that sad note... SWAG http://i.imgur.com/qplOTJt.jpg Was thinking about waiting until the spring to install clear park/corner assemblies, but NAAAAHHH... http://i.imgur.com/gLhbkOP.jpg ...because it's very important that we all KONSERVE "ELECTRISTY":dumb:
  13. Me: "Hey, Jeff...love the car and great working with you. Quick question: how do you get the sunroof to work?" Jeff in CA: "Dunno, man...I never used it." Me: "Uhhh, well...still love the car anyway." So I jumped on the headlights for 30 minutes just now...I was very happy with how much clearer the lenses are, but look at DAT CRAZE...I don't think anything aside from aggressive plastic sanding and buffing is going to solve that much damage...thoughts? http://i.imgur.com/pawKNgd.jpg http://i.imgur.com/kJzDSY1.jpg http://i.imgur.com/hRTuLa9.jpg Casey? Anyone? I'd be pissed if it wasn't for the fact that it's a CA car and seems like EVERY CTS and CTS-V has some srsly hazy headlights. Will never replace them, but anything (sanding/buffing, Lamin-X) that people recommend...let me know. Also, was looking at the manual to reprogram settings, and L@@K: "Olent angy and Lane Ave"??? "OSU News"? Whoa! KeanuReevesMatrix.jpg http://i.imgur.com/25qAwms.jpg Neat little Columbus reference in the CTS/CTS-V Owners Manual! (Also, props to WMMS, 100.7...Cleveland's Oldest Rock Station:fuckyeah:)
  14. Thanks for the comments, guys! I'll look into IPS for the headlights...my neighbor loved the V and gave me the Mother's NuLens kit he used on his '02 911 Turbo. I may try once myself before leaving it up to pros. Intadesting how the headlights look pretty crappy but the third brake light/spoiler and taillights look perfectly fine. Pics for the non-believers, until you all can see it this Saturday at CC&C: http://i.imgur.com/3ZhodPF.jpg http://i.imgur.com/vaz6kQB.jpg Matt (90G60), I'd love to meet you at some point if you're close by just because for as much love for the V as I've had, I gotta admit I've done ZERO research into mods/common problems and I would greatly appreciate V-related tips from guys like you, Casey, Tom (POS VETT) and others. http://i.imgur.com/XM24AXm.jpg Cleetus: "Hi! Uhhh...huh huh...you're PUURRRRRTY...":masturboy: V: "Um....thanks but no thanks?"
  15. So...super tired and exhausted but the transporter came this evening! Had to go to Lowe's at Mill Run (between Hilliard and Upper Arlington) to pick it up off the semi. Wes (TheMrWes) came with me, and he did me a solid because no one told me the transportation was C.O.D...I assumed they'd take a card! I pulled $500 and maxed my cash-out at the ATM. As I start cursing, wondering where the f**k they expect me to get $800 after business hours, wondering where to get a money order, etc...Wes immediately pulls $300 out of the ATM from his account and we pay the transporter. MUCH RESPECT for Wes...that was a solid move.:thumbup: Washed 2,000+ miles of dirt off, and took it up to Sonic. Impressive crowd up there actually, and I LOVED every mile I drove in the V. It's clean, it's solid, and it's mine. :masturboy: I'll post up pics tomorrow in the sun! :fuckyeah: Only issue I experienced was the shifter: it was super notchy which I expected, but there's no center to it and it's tough to find the right gear. Feels like a bushing or linkage(s) are worn...
  16. Clean it up and that will be a fun and UNIQUE throwback. You and Alex can represent the turbo'ed 80s Nissan Brigade of CR!
  17. Selling for a neighbor: 137k miles. A/C doesn't work. $1000 Call Alan: 614-204-1969 Pics to come...
  18. POSTING FOR A NEIGHBOR!!!! (He's not a car guy but knows I am.) Older neighbor is looking for a pickup truck to do yardwork and suburban homeowner-type duties. Willing to spend $5-$10k. I recommended he look at a Ford F150, GMC Sierra. Must be American (his mandate). He needs A/C, cruise, V6 is fine, V8 is unnecessary for this guy. Not looking for fancy, but newer with basic amenities and ABS, traction control(?) and EFI. He just paid $30k for a 2014 Ford Fusion and I told him I'd find a truck he could DD that would make him wonder why he paid that much for the Fusion. Lemme know what you got!
  19. Ugh...discount transporters. Saturday or Sunday at the latest. Unloading in Ohio, of course I'm one of the last ones off the truck apparently. I'd beeyotch but they said "end of the week" anyway, and not much I can do for an $800+, 2000mile carry...
  20. I admit the stance is too wide, but other than that I really like the mix of Camaro/Firebird body panels to clean up the exterior. TIL: For a non-street F-Body, you can use the nose of a 'Bird and the hood of a Camaro (without cutouts for the 'Bird headlights) to create a sinister beak of a front end. In the back, you could use the bumper of a Camaro (no license plate) and the solid taillight panel of a 'Bird.

    9/11

One thing I also remember... Every 9/11 since 2001 has had amazingly beautiful weather...just like 9/11/01. This was the first one in memory that was overcast/drizzly, at least in the morning...
  23. That was a messed-up question. Clearly it's a 5 minute interview...the interviewer's not Howard Stern...Mike is just making the rounds with his producer/handler to promote the show... Still LOL-worthy. "Your show is tonight...just tell us a bit about it"...that interviewer wanted nothing more in this life than to get the show over and get as far away from Iron Mike has he possibly could.
