  1. I've got a box of old taps and dies in my garage, some of them still NIB in packing oil. I won't be home until tonight, doe...
  2. Having owned a few '80's Fullsize Chevys and a Ford - all 2WD - I'd highly recommend that if you're not truly going off-road, you'd be just as good in a RWD tee-ruk with really good tires. I have turrible, rock-hard, dry-rotted PepBoys specials on my '82 Ford F100 and could barely get out of my driveway when it snowed last year. Loaded up the bed with shoveled snow and was able to get most anywhere I needed to go. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116517 Now, I'm getting new M+S traction tires and anticipate even better all-weather performance this year. Considering I use my tee-ruks exactly how you describe (includes towing my old Corvette to FL/PA/GA etc when I had it), you don't need 4WD at all. Look at an older 3/4-ton 2WD truck with an 8ft bed and be done with the search. You'll already have any tools you need to fix it, and the parts are super cheap. Love my beater tee-ruks.
  3. GADDAMN VTEC KICKIN' IN Y0! You need a nice, solid, non-VANOS M42B18 for that monster. Love the update!

  5. I don't have the words. Really sorry to hear this, Bill.
  6. He timed that well with "Summertime Sadness".
  7. I remember hearing that story when I was growing up...amazing to read it again after many years in such detail. I also remember similar stories from military flying in the '60s to the '80s of pilots ejecting in thunderstorms and not surviving. I feel it's important to remember these stories, so you never lose respect for mother nature...whether you're PIC flying a plane or standing on the ground with a thunderstorm coming your way.
  8. Wow. That was a jump from "possibly fixable" to "more to replace than it's valued". Really sucks, Casey. When I get mine, I'll let you drive it for old time's sake.
  9. 80% 20 out of 25 :fuckyeah: Winner online, loser IRL :fa: It helps that I watch a lot of /DRIVE, Top Gear, etc online. Dunno what I missed... Also, not the easiest thing to take on an iPhone...
  10. If you guys watch near the end, it looks like ONE flight took off/diverted landing and headed southeast...
  11. I had a foot on my gas-powered leaf blower and let the pullcord rip. With the angle, the nylon cord rubbed the side of my knee and burned/sliced into the skin. One pull. One point of contact. Took 3 weeks for it to heal. I think of that personal experience - on a much, much, MUCH tamer device and speed - and realize the damage those highway cable barriers will do to flesh.
  12. IN THE ARRMMMMS OF AN ANGELLLLLLL...
  13. http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/car-culture/jay-leno-george-w-bush-and-the-57-buick-that-trumped-the-million-dollar-ferraris-at-pebble-beach I've never heard of something like this, ever. Awesome story! Wish there was video...(at least I haven't found it yet)...
  14. Modern commercial airliners (Boeing, Airbus, Embraer, etc...) are built to withstand some pretty severe weather. However, it's still commonplace to avoid flying into thunderstorms as much as possible. This is pretty cool video evidence of this practice. http://flightclub.jalopnik.com/watch-how-thunderstorms-affect-air-traffic-in-atlanta-1622352515/+orlove
  15. LOL @ M*A*S*H* reference. Very awesome. Lots of time goes into becoming a helicopter pilot...that was a rare treat and looked like a great day to do it.
  16. I'm actually a fan of the asparagus and taters as much as the meat. Looks awesome!
  17. Ohio dealer plate: 1 1802. Black, older driver. Northbound on 315 got off on henderson rd. AMAZING CAR in person. Funny that I had to slow down in order for him to catch up. Sorry, no pics. Traffic harrowing enough!
  18. "You are using an outdated version of Internet Explorer. Qzzr is not compatible with any IE version under 10. Please go to Windows Updates and install the latest version." Failed before I even took the quiz. :fa: :fa:
  19. I see it, but you have to question if it's Photoshopped... However, a pic of the wreck pre-tarp tells me that it might be legit...
  20. Wow! That's amazing to see those animals up close. Did you didn't dine on Gemsbok steaks the following night? EDIT: LOL @ Aaron wishing you grabbed a heaping helping of Ebola on your travels.
  21. Decent-looking wheels can easily be had for under $500 shipped on eBay... http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40%7CR40&_sacat=0&_nkw=miata+wheels+15x7&_sop=15 ...but I have to agree that it's throwing good money after bad. Get anything on that list that's not the basket-weave pattern, and I agree that a bright silver wheel will be best for resale.
  22. Doc: 1) I searched for "car cover" and couldn't find my own thread. :fa: 2) I figured the climate in Ohio may be different for car covers than in FL. Mildew is a bish in the Sunshine State. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!
