    Veggies!

I'm going out of town, but could I bring my wife and check out what you have after 8/10? LMK...
  2. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105451 Lowered, but with driveline problems. No worries...will get it repaired soon. It is a little too low to haul stuff, so some Monroe Air shocks will be in order. Pics to come. The frame and bed floor are solid, but there is a lot of scale rust. Looking to pull the bed next, to sand down and paint the rear end and truck bed.
  3. I finished lowering the rear end of Cleetus by doing a front hanger flip. The end result is exactly what I was expecting: 1" of air before the axle hits the bump stop . I took it for a shakedown run to HD, happy to show off the new, free, lowness. Amazingly, the long wheelbase made the ride relatively smooth, even over bumps. I'm quite pleased with the end result. However, I never made it more than a quarter mile... In dropping the rear end, I didn't bother loosening the u-bolts to shim the driveline angle a few degrees, as recommended. Well...under engine load, there is a noticeable drumming coming up from the chassis. When still in gear and the gas is let off, it still produces vibrations. Its only when the clutch is taken in that the drumming goes away. Fortunately, there is no damage...but I've grown wiser enough to do a u-turn and live another day. I'll figure out what's up tomorrow...
  4. AS MANY AS I FUCKING WANT http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IOshTJjLI3k/T3iifbhMYAI/AAAAAAAACVQ/ijR-z1COSJw/s1600/questions+answered+here+even+the+silly+ones+readerboard+lol+funny.jpg It's a short list: Jeep Wrangler, Factory Five Cobra, Cadillac CTS-V...looking for the right opportunity.
  5. Looking at a yella 2006 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Tasteful/quality appearance and stereo upgrades. Just under 60k miles. Any major problems to look for aside from the obvious body damage from hard wheeling and rust? Not likely buying, but piqued my interest (and my daughter too!) Did this year Rubicon come with Dana 44s front and rear?

  7. Because we're trying something different.

  9. Still a great movie...good background flick when chilling at night...
  10. Right...my bad. Stockers on my F-100 were 4-packs...considerably cheaper. I'll stick with those.
  11. Before the spring broke (and I popped off the hangers), the hanger-flip would be easier...no need to break old U-bolts like an axle flip. Plus, most Ford guys say axle-flips require a C-notch in the frame... Anywho...the hangar flip was the cheaper option. Still is, even with $200 in new springs...
  12. Jeebus! John R Spring 4-leaf packs are $99 on JCWhitney...
  13. Only if that rad dude in your avatar comes along as well.
  14. Soon as you pay off your CC balance from last man-date. :gabe:
  15. September 19th... NEVER FORGET
  16. I had nothing to do with that.
  17. Actually talked to the wifey last nite 'bout this...she sez no more projects until Cleetus is finished. I said, "Cleetus will NEVER be finished! It's a 30-year old pickup truck!":yuno: She went :gabe: I see what she did thurr. http://www.google.com/url?source=imglanding&ct=img&q=http://i2.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/140/889/Clever_Girl_by_jimoakley666.jpg&sa=X&ei=LowOUNDyCs-vqQH2mYCgBQ&ved=0CAsQ8wc&usg=AFQjCNHxEa7y5Cn2injlyqwWS8YGpUBRjQ
  18. Whatever. Cooler when I post it on CR.:fuckyeah:
  19. Props to HOT ROD for doing "Roadkill". Love this video.
  20. Over the weekend, I worked to lower the rear end of Cleetus by "flipping" the front hanger on the rear leaf springs. This involves grinding off the 4 rivets fastening the hangers to the frame on each side, rotating the hanger 180* upside down, locating the hangers back to the frame with 2 holes that match up and drill 2 new holes for the entire assembly to be bolted back on. It was a bear X-cutting and air-hammering the heads of the rivets off, and unfortunately the rear eye loops apparently are broken in half! I never heard anything break, and the springs still support the rear end just fine. Just a very bizarre break....not sure how long this has been... http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=669&pictureid=6413 EDIT: Note that this is taken from behind the axle, and you can see the spoon-shaped springs where they used to be a loop around the bushing...still bolted to the shackle above. Equally as shocking is the price for new leaf spring packs. Looks like before shipping, new springs will be over $300 a pair. Realizing this, I want to just reweld the spring eyes. Harbor Freight has a decent flux/MIG welder for sale. http://www.harborfreight.com/170-amp-migflux-wire-welder-68885.html Any thoughts? I'd rather reweld the spring eye and have a welder to finish body mods - as well as having a welder now for future projects! - rather than shelling out hard money for new parts on a cheap truck...
