I'm with most of the others in this thread...don't blow your money on the V6. I have one as my daily driver/beater...I put the bare minimum in it just to keep it driveable. Sell it and buy a V8 version or just something with a better platform. I hate to see you blow your cash on this car...

Recommend a place for getting an alignment
Razorback replied to Baluchitherium4's topic in Passing Lane
I had my last one done at NTB off of Morse near Sam's Club. They did a good job, but their prices are climbing pretty quickly. Not sure if I'll go back -- it's been a while, might search around, but I will definitely say they did a good job. -
Yep I'm definitely planning on driving back, but just in case of crazy severe weather (we all know how Ohio is), I wanted to be ready with some kind of backup plan and yes I would love to do enclosed. I just got off the phone w/ the Corvette Museum and scheduled my pickup date. The woman I spoke with told me on the phone that she would send me a list of auto transport companies to contact that might be able to help, but chances are I'm just going to have to plan on driving it back since most companies aren't going to be ready to go on one day's notice. Thanks for all the feedback fellas. Also Stallion -- yes it's a really neat option. Instead of choosing a courtesy delivery (I had a very bad experience with Jack Maxton when I tried to arrange a courtesy delivery through them a few weeks back) I elected the R8C option which is Museum delivery -- if any of you frequent Corvette Forums they have some really nice posts on there describing it. I'm really excited, should be a fun trip -- basically the Museum is right next door to the Corvette plant and they just drive the car off the production line straight over to the Museum where they detail it and get it ready for the owner. I'll let you guys know how the experience is.

No, I'm very appreciative of the feedback. I may end up just having to gamble on the weather and drive it back. Thanks!

Does anyone know of anywhere that rents enclosed trailers out for a decent price? I saw some flatbed type trailers at UHAUL but they recommend only going 45MPH which would mean the trip back would take like 8 hours. Figured you guys might have some really good suggestions. Or if anyone has any creative ideas for shipment? I'm picking up my Vette at the Museum in Bowling Green next month and would prefer to plan on trailering it back rather than gamble on the weather. Thanks for any suggestions you all might have. Have a good weekend.

Thanks AJ I appreciate the response. I'm looking for Atomic Orange. I called just about every Chevy dealer in the Columbus area yesterday and the only one I could find was a convertible and I'm looking for targa. If you see one come in, give me a shout. Thanks again!

Yeah I've been on Corvette Forums quite a bit lately and have some good quotes, but I definitely would like to set up a test drive before purchasing. Thanks for the feedback -- I will shoot him a PM.

I'm getting pretty close to purchasing a new C6 and I'd like to arrange a test drive and get a build quote from a local dealer -- anybody here in this line of work? Thanks!

LaSota does great work, mechanical & tuning. They've done a # of things on my car.

I need a Saleen Speedster cover painted for my 97 Cobra. The piece also needs some bondo work as it has some knicks in it. The shop I normally go to has been backed up for forever, I've been waiting around a month, so I'm now looking for another place/person to do it. Does anyone here recommend anyone who does good work for a reasonable price that might be able to get me 2-3 weeks turn-around? Thanks!

Thanks a ton for the feedback guys! I'll check these out.

Hey do you guys recommend any particular place to remove dents/dings around the Gahanna/east side area? Thanks!

Thanks for all the responses fellas. The owner of the shop just responded to the BBB last night trying to justify his position and make excuses (essentially trying to lay the blame back in her direction) and saying her warranty was voided, etc -- her car in the meantime is sitting in the driveway in the same condition it was in the first time it broke 10 months ago -- she put 35,000 miles on the car after buying it originally and then the transmission breaks, it goes to Cottman's and now it won't run for even a few thousand miles without a problem. Next step is to locate an attorney and have the case reviewed to make sure it's worth her and her family's time. I do like the idea of calling 6 on your side -- has anyone here done that? Has it worked? (btw, the amount she would have to sue them for would be beyond $3k as she has more than that in her total bill at Cottman Transmission -- not sure if it makes a difference or not? Thanks again!

I posted something a while back about my girlfriend's 2002 Honda Accord and the transmission issues she has run into with the Cottman Transmissions shop she went to for repairs. To summarize, she went there last December for repairs, it was "fixed" and then broke 6 weeks later. She took it back in, they fixed it again and that was that for a few months when it started leaking again so she took it in before it broke again. The manager (whose name is Bob) has continually told us something is jacked up with the frame (as it is a salvaged car), yet he did not say anything about this initially until we payed him for the initial repairs. Her dad works for Honda and the car has been out to the Marysville plant, Sam Jackson Auto Body (very top notch shop in Marysville), and a Sears auto service location where her uncle works to be inspected for frame misalignments. None have been found. The car started leaking again about 2 months ago so she had it towed back to Cottman (she has a 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty) and this time Bob claims it was something in the differential. They covered it, but did not give her any paperwork this time claiming that because it was under warranty he didn't need to provide any -- yet he provided it the time before. The car just broke again again and will not shift gears so I've loaned her one of my cars until she can figure out what to do. After the previous time (when we were given no paperwork after the "fix"), she filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office -- the BBB has since notified Cottman and it has been atleast 3 weeks -- the BBB seems to be giving him all the time in the world to respond when she is now vehicle-less. Does anyone with experience in these matters have any advice on what should be the next step? This guy really should be out of business. All she wants to see is either the car fully repaired or to have her money refunded so she can take it to another place to get worked on. Thanks very much for your time to read and respond to this.

I'm looking at a 50'' Sony TV that my g/f and I saw at Best Buy today and we really liked it -- I have a question about playing DVDs on one of these televisions though -- will "fullscreen" DVDs look jacked up? Most of my DVDs are full screen so I figure if they're going to look screwed up then I better not waste the $$ on a widescreen TV. Thanks very much.

I had picked these up earlier in the summer and I know I won't be able to make it out this year. $50 takes them both. Good for any day in the 2006 season open to the general public. E-Mail: pgray2@columbus.rr.com Thanks.

Gauging Interest: Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego CPU w/ Mainboard
Razorback posted a topic in Other Stuff
I have an MSI Mainboard (AGP 8X, 4 DDR slots, onboard lan, onboard audio, SATA, EIDE, atleast 3-4 PCI slots) with an Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego CPU. I'm looking to upgrade mainboards and CPUs in the near future and would like to find a buyer ahead of time for this combo. This CPU has been running at 2.81GHz (FX-57 speeds) where the stock speed was 2.2GHz and has been rock solid stable (watercooled); mainboard has great overclocking options and has also been rock solid stable. I also have the retail AMD heatsink for the CPU which has never been opened (I'll throw this in for free) as I watercool all my CPUs and video cards immediately upon arrival. I'm looking for $140 for the pair. I also have a Soundblaster Audigy 2 that I'll probably get rid of also as my next mainboard has 7.1 support and the Audigy 2 only supports up to 5.1 if anyone is interested. Thanks very much, just PM me or E-Mail me (leave a detailed subject line as I get a lot of junkmail) at pgray2@columbus.rr.com Thanks again. -
Weird situation on this one. You tried a new power supply that DEFINITELY works? My initial thought was the PS also. I ran into that once also with a dying power supply where you would push the power button and only the fans would come on -- swapped out the PS and no more trouble. If it was the harddrive alone I would think it would still POST and just give you a "No Hard Disk Detected" or "HDD Failed" or something along those lines. It could possibly be the CPU if it's fried. I've personally never run into a dead CPU (knock on wood) so I'm not sure if a mainboard will boot or not with a dead CPU. I would vote for either a second faulty PS/Mainboard or a dead CPU as the culprit. Please let us know. I am curious -- this is what I do for a living so this is definitely good education since I've never run into this type of situation before.

Hope you fellas are ready to vote against DeWine come November. Atleast if you are in favor of keeping illegals OUT of the country. DeWine supports more immigration (legal or illegal), and has one of the worst voting records in this state (Senate or House) regarding those issues.

http://blogyourself.net/articles/remove-windows-counterfeit-notification.html Has quite a # of ways to fix it. If you still need help, PM me and I will see if I can help.

It's actually an easy fix, if you're quick -- I'll see if I can find the fix when I go to work today and add it to here. It's basically spyware on your system from microsoft, but by removing a couple files you'll be okay. No worries, I'll post up later.

Just stay away from Cottman Transmissions. Worst quality of customer service and labor I've ever seen in an automotive business.
