They won't be much longer now that Shepherd is working directly with Switzer on development. Shep's GTR went 10.91 at 130mph his first time out with just an exhaust midpipe and a flash. Car had about 300 miles on it.

Who said anything about acting like an idiot?

Have you considered heavy drinking? That's what is always my friend at the airport.

I'm not sure I get your point (or sarcasm)? I certainly understand how awful it is to go to a weekend event, sit in staging lanes all day and barely make any passes (I just did it this weekend in Norwalk). That is why I would say most of us love the track rentals and are willing to pay much more than $10 to run. To me, paying $50-$60 to basically pull our car up whenever we want to make a pass in well worth it in terms of stress level and overall enjoyment. That was my point.

I agree. July is usually rough between the extreme heat and vacations. There was almost 2 months in between the April one and this so I'm not sure what the problem is for most people.

I need a Ford, BBK, or Accufab 75mm throttle body on a 5.0l bolt pattern. We snapped the shaft on ours over the weekend and need to replace. I could also use a Ford TPS sensor if you've also got it. Thanks.
-
We broke a throttle body. Price we pay for putting a Ford part on our car:D What's funny is the DSM who was pitted next to us also broke a throttle body on his qualifying was before us. His was a BBK and ours was an Accufab.

It's next to impossible to secure a track rental on a weekend date.

Also, I'd be willing in to kick in more $$$ if the other people who have already decided to sign up are willing to do the same in order to make the event happen under the usual conditions.

I'll probably be in the minority on this but... I would much rather have the full day and single lane for the following reasons. 1.) 4 hours is really not a lot of time for a high powered car to get in a number of passes because of necessary cool down and whatnot. 2.) Starting in the afternoon vs morning likely means much hotter conditions which means slower track times/tougher track prep. 3.) Even if you run 2 lanes and somebody oil's down 1 lane then the track still closes to clean it up. (It isn't like they'll just let us go 1 lane to the unaffected one). If they have changed this policy then great but I'd be surprised to see it. Assuming this is true then only running for 4 hours is that much more risky if there is a significant clean up. For me, it mainly comes down to maximizing my time to make sure we get in enough time to accomplish what we want. My assumption is that most of us are either taking a day off of work or blowing off school for something like this. So with that said, I just want to feel like it was worth using the time off for.

We paid up a while back. I don't really understand why people wait to the last minute to register for these things. Coming from somebody who has tried to organize these in the past, they are a major, stressful pain in the ass to deal with. Is $30 (or whatever it is) really too much money to be out of to support the club regardless of whether you can get your car ready in time? Just sign up now, give the spot away to a buddy if you can't make it or race some other thing you drive for fun

We'll be there.

I think it is highly likely that we would end up on our lid if we tried to run our car at Marion on full power.

If you're serious about it then this is who I would contact: http://switzerperformanceinnovation.com/

Where are you going to listen to the Grado's at?

I got rid of my 2g 2 years ago so that we could concentrate on 1 car. It was becoming too much work and money to try to run both cars.
-
Yeah we're very used to hearing that. The car leaves on the 2 step at 8k and 20lbs of boost but it certainly doesn't look like that to the naked eye. Its because of the big setup, lack of a carbon clutch, lack of nitrous, tall 1st gear, blah blah. I'm amazed at how calm it looks too coming out. Even my old 2g that had a T67 looked more violent than this car does and had slower 60' times. I think we're all just used to watching 35r type cars rocketing out of the hole or something like Shepherd that leaves on meth, the bottle, and a staging brake. There aren't very many DSMs or EVOs that we can use to compare our data to. Most of the 42r cars are running the bottle and very aggressive cams.
-
"medium hard" 1.45 60' on that pass and 5.85 to the 1/8th. He can and has cut some mid 1.3s if we cared to leave a little harder but we aren't generally interested in it yet. The car is very hard to launch with a 42r and no nitrous. It also has a very long 1st gear in the dogbox which also makes it pretty tough. Its amazing how consistent he's become on cutting a solid 1.40-1.50 60' range whenever we decide to make a full pass. We run on a VERY tight budget so our general motto is to do everything in our power to improve the times within reason but try to keep the car from grenading parts. We think we've found some data from the logs that might pick the car's ET up a little more without having to lean on the launch more. Only more testing will tell.
-
Thanks for compliments on the car. We think the current setup has a little more in it so we're excited to take it back out after seeing the data and trying some changes.
-
Congrats! Car looks great!
