  1. The 997 actually ran a 9.79 a little later in the day. He was on the rev limiter way before the traps unfortunately as it would have been great to see what it would have fully put down. He is hoping to make our Oct 3rd rental as I have a spot reserved for him.
  2. Congrats Jeff and all the guys at IPS. It's great to see all of your hard work paying off with great track results!
  3. It only LOOKS fast. That's my problem
  4. +1 I wonder how many people here even listened to Metallica before Enter Sandman came out
  5. Thanks. We're still trying to sort out many issues with the car but did make some progress yesterday. It went 10.50 on one pass which is still way off from where we want to be but we did get over some big clutch hurdles yesterday. Keeping the car straight and the power to the tires has been an issue so far. We hope to make the next CR rental and keep improving before the season ends.
  6. Sorry. I need my stash:)
  7. The fix is to go to a safer, better prepped track before something bad happens. Congrats on the sweet numbers to both of you guys!
  8. You aren't going to find a place that stocks/sells it locally. We have to order ours on a monthly basis.
  9. In my experiences, the number has been closer to 40% as well.
  10. It's a short trem, temporary solution until they can better decide what to do. I'm sure they're getting some heat to do something in the short term at least. I hope this will not become permanent next year. Most of the complaints from the small teams are stretched IMO. True the cars mostly blow up near the 1320'. But you know quite well that they'll be tuned to the edge even more now and will just start blowing up at 990'. This will make it even more competitive and tighter (possibly more dangerous IMO)
  11. Having a short runoff is one thing. But having a fucking CONCRETE WALL at the end is ridiculous. I know it's an old, historic track but the NHRA should make better choices about where they choose to run their races.
  12. The P0300 isn't your problem. The code is coming up now as a result of the car misfiring from the primary issue. Yes the P0300 can apear from drive train noise (after market clutches are usually the biggest cuprit). But this isn't the issue.
  13. There are many things that it could be (some of which are things that you already replaced but should be checked again). The first thing I would do is get a factory MAF back in the car. I know you said that the probem happened before the GM MAF but it is going to be hard for you to effectively troubleshoot the car with such a weird variable as that product. As others said, you need to get a logger on the car during the anamoly to see what is happening. Maybe your fuel pump is starting to shit and the car is going dead lean when this happens? You replaced the plugs but with what?
  14. The white DSM is Kiggly's FWD DSM. It has gone high 8s so far in the upper 150s trying to learn a new setup. It will likely go a few 10th's quicker this year.
  15. I have never been to QCR when the track prep has been poor. They really do a good job there.
  16. What is unique about your ECU that would not allow you to run an MSD?
  17. The BR spec cams only work on the VIII as they never had a MIVEC grind made. The AEM EMS has all of the capabities of dealing with weather changes utilizing the baro and IAT tables.
  18. If your DSM is making around 400hp or so I would recommend AGAINST BG Synchroshift as the stuff is very thin and doesn't hod up well. I lost 2 trannys with the stuff back in the day before switching to better stuff and haven't had issues since. I run Pennzoil Synchromesh in the EVO box and like it at normal power levels.
  19. The forecast on Accuweather looks REAL good by comparison. I don't know why 2 places could be so opposite. They're only saying like a 10% chance and have always been pretty reliable in my experience.
  20. I had read Wed May 7th somewhere.
  21. What will the policy be for cancelling the rental due to weather? I'm basically looking for a cutoff time. Will this be early in the AM on Friday or closer to the 10:00 start time? I ask because my assumption is that many of us have the opportunity to still go to work if the event will be cancelled and instead use vacation time for the rain date next Wednesday.
  22. Running C16 (or other high octane equivalents) in a car without altering the tune will produce bad results. You will lose power. You need to be able to advance the ignition time accordingly to burn the gas. (There are other factors too that determine ignition advance beyond just octane rating). If the car is stockish in nature and your only trying to turn the wick up a tad then I would say that C16 is overkill. I would just throw some Cam2 in it. Leaded gas will kill the Bosch sensor quickly. The best thing you can do is drain the gas when your done (if possible) and run pump back through it so that you aren't mixing the gas back up for a longer period of time. Also, sensor placement plays a large role in longevity. The closer to the turbo the quicker it dies. If you have it downstream (like where the rear O2 normally sits) then it will last a long time.
  23. The car is on VP Import. He wears a mask on all of his dyno tunes. I know my friend Tym regrets not wearing a mask these past 10 years of tuning cars;)
