The cockpit view video is Wes' car, yes.
-
I didn't realize that was the same guy from that Coldsm thread. It seems like he actively posts here so maybe he can explain himself?
-
Link? I did some searching to make sure I wasn't missing the obvious before making this post. I didn't come up with anything however.

Is your Youtube account name 1sloDSM? http://www.youtube.com/user/1SloDSM I am wondering why you have a cockpit video of a deceased DSM pioneer's car on your channel calling it your own "small video of my old race car on the street"? I'm also wondering why you have an avatar pic of our race car on that same page followed by subsequent videos of OUR race car being described as "found an old video of the car at the track last season" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn-5nSOYSFQ Am I missing something?
-
No I did not. Sorry about that. I thought you were referring to a DSM siunce that is what the thread was about. There clearly are different mechanical issues associated with all makes and models. Headgasket issues on DSMs though are something that I feel is pretty hard to screw up.

I ran the OEM MD349347 gasket at 700whp for 2 years without failure. The car was only using ARPS and an O-ringed head at the time.
-
Mitsu PN# MLHG= MD349347 is the metal OEM gasket. Also, the stock composite headgasket can run well over 700whp without issue. I ran one for years on my 2g at over 40PSI and never had a failure.

Is the box you have a Scientific Atlanta or Samsung? Run it component video and analog audio right to the TV and see if the issue goes away. The HDMI outputs on the boxes are very flaky. If you still are having the issues then you can get into the box's menu to pull up the signal strength right at the incoming RF input. You could have had something recently change in your subdivision that may have made the signal strength too hot or weak.

Reboot the cable box. 99% of the service crap I deal with from TWC, Wow, Insight, DTV, and Dish is solved by rebooting their POS harware.

Great job guys!

I'm not interested in turning anything down. I haven't even turned it UP yet:D

The problem I have usually seen there was more around the 1/8th to 1000' mark as you mentioned. There used to almost be a hump in the track around that point that was pretty unsafe.

Are you guys with the fast cars seriously not concerned about the prep at DW42? I would love to bring our car out for this but I'm just having a real hard time believing that DW42 is going to hold a car like ours (or the couple other of you guys that are running real fast). I've been there a couple times and it was always a scary nightmare. Do they do something way above and beyond what they do for a Friday night prep to make you guys feel comfortable running there?
-
There just simply aren't enough fast cars in the midwest to make an event on that scale happen. The concentration of fastest cars are in the northeast and Atlantic state regions (at least the imports I'm speaking of). The turnout for Import Face off at NTR this year was up from years past but it is still pathetic compared to most of their other venues. I'm surprised every year that I see Columbus reappear on their schedule.

We may be attending.
-
It will come together for us. The car is finally just starting to go fast down the track. We knew that we would hit a suspension/tire wall once this happened but did not want to allocate money to it until we sorted out other issues. We're just pretty budget limited and can't afford to throw piles of money to the things to improve the known issues. But what I can tell you is that we could never go as fast as we are if it wasn't for Shepherd pushing the envelope to get parts developed that allow a motor like ours to spin to 11k or a tranny that can shift at whatever RPM or load necessary. The guy is an animal.

The similarities are pretty minimal. The displacement, bottom ends, and cylinder headwork is about the same. Header design and turbo are also pretty close. We also run the same dogbox transmission (which is made by him). Otherwise, he has major factors that push him to those numbers: Custom rear end setup Twin carbon clutch Drag suspension Bigger tires big cams Straight methanol Nitrous He's running ENORMOUS boost and putting down close to 1400hp at the wheels. More importantly, he knows how to get the power down the track. The car will easily go low 7s and 200+ mph when it comes back out. Our car is possibly capable of an 8 second pass but we are getting traction limited by running a small tire and having a shitty suspension setup. Now that our car is going fast these are the next weak links that need addressed. Our strategy up to this point has been to make up time on the big end because we know how to make a lot of power. It saves expensive drive train parts and keeps the car together. It allows us to get the car out a lot and continue to have fun instead of tearing it apart every weekend. We are clutch limited using something that is already at its torque limit for what we're making. We could easily turn the wick up 200hp higher but there are weak drive train links that won't hold it at this point. John's car has no real compromises.

His car will be back out eventually. But he had to make very radical changes to it to meet safety requirements as well as feeling safe himself inside it. Not to mention that he is a perfectionist and has been taking drastic measures to maintain the old school look of the car throughout the process. He decided to turn his daily driven EVO into an E85 9.50 car in the downtime.

Sorry boys, I was screaming and yelling for OSU tonight.

Perhaps it was the next set of downs. I haven't been able to go back and watch the 4th quarter yet. I may be mistaken on the timeline. -

I said I blamed the skilled players not executing. Not the defense as a whole. Reread what I posted. I don't care what happens leading up to it. But when you have a chance to put them away and you give up a huge 3rd down deep in their own territory then it is a huge play. Up until that point, Barkley had very little confidence. We was getting hit and shaken. After that conversion is when the turning point happened for him. -

OSU dominated the game up front on both sides of the ball for 3.5 quarters. They were prepared to play. They got worn out at the end. This game came down to the skilled players not executing when it counted. The play of the game was when we allowed them to convert a 3rd and about 13 from their own 5 yard line. Russell got toasted again (just like he did twice in the Navy game). Was he also the guy who missed the tackle on the game winning TD against TX last year in the Fiesta Bowl (not sure on this one)? -

Or is he utilizing them too much? What would you be doing different? Throwing the ball more vertical? With a QB who has proven he can barely throw a screen pass let alone a 30 yard post pattern into coverage. You want TP to run the edge more? Those decisions he made pitching the ball to Herron a few times looked pretty good too huh? Maybe Tressel can yell into the headset to him also and tell him when to pitch the ball accurately? -

I know where he's from. If you think Urban Meyer is leaving Florida to come here then you'll be waiting for quite a while. Again I ask, if Tressel is so bad and there are better people out there then who? Waiting for names. Its obviously easy to get a Big 10 school to the national championship 3 out of 6 seasons so I'm looking for who the guy is who will get the program over the hump. Names please... -

You guys want it all both ways. People rip on the coach for being overly conservative and then look what happens at the end of the half when he decides to throw on 3rd down. I personally thought it was a great opportunity. What it came down to is poor execution. Prior is just not as good as advertised. All we heard about this off season was how improved his mechanics were. But how many times did the announcers show replays of him throwing off his back feet and displaying no accuracy. His management of the game is horrible. Delay of game penalties and unawareness of what is happening around him are unacceptable at this level. The biggest mistake Tressel has made in his tenure was giving into the pressure of having to play Prior so early. Things would have been different last year if Boeckman didn't get benched. I'd like to know from all of the anti-Tressel people out there: who you think OSU could bring in here that would be an upgrade at the head coach position? (And I mean realistic candidates who would come (not someone like Urban Meyer)) -
If your car is traction limited already then moving to a smaller housing that is only going to move your curve to the left is probably not a wise thing.
