So, I call VZW to make sure my phone is going to work in Europe (the sales person told me she wasn't sure how to set it up). The guy tells me I have to call before I leave to have them update my account to be global, and then call when I get back so it will work in the US again. I asked WTF? Your adverts say I can go from sydney to tokyo to chicago and won't notice. He says that this is how it works, have to call. My old BB 8830 World didn't require this. Anyone work for VZW that can tell me if this guy is a moron?

They are flour beetles. My wife had this bag of all bran flour we used once, they had taken over the box. All flour comes with beetle larva in it, just we cook it out. If you don't use the flour for a long time, and keep it in a warm place, the beetles will hatch. By controlling the hardware they have been able to keep their stuff functioning at a very high level for a very long time. MS tries to run on anything, and they don't do a very good job at it. Tight controls mean the products work very well.
