  1. Yeah, lol 2500miles isn't broke in at all. Like I told you before and Dave mentioned, give it til 15k or so before you judge gas mileage. I average 16mpg all city, so it'll get better but never be good.
  2. Any rust? Clean title? Pics to bam6i4@aol.com please.
  3. Yeah I changed my SC oil earlier this summer, super easy but damn does it STINK! I used the GM bottles and a squirter thing from like a windex bottle to get it out. I think they recommend changing it every 30k. Also, you can run synthetic for motor oil if you'd like but I have never and just run a blend. If I'm out next weekend I'll show you where the little plug is on the SC to change the oil, super easy.
  4. Ok, I'll shoot you an email. At the very least if you can't hook me up price wise it'd be nice to know specifically what to use. Thanks Matt
  5. Oil/filter Rotate Tires Inspect Cabin Filter Replace air filter Inspect spark plugs Tighten driveshaft bolt...WTF is this? Inspect the following: -Ball joints and dust covers -Brake lines and hoses -Brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs -Differential oil -Drive shaft boots -Engine coolant -Exhaust pipes and mounting -Fuel lines and connections, fuel tank band and fuel tank vapor vent system -Fuel tank cap gasket -Radiator core and condensor -Steering gear box -Steering linkage and boots -Transfer case oil -Transmission fluid/oil Tighten nuts and bolts on chassis Replace front differential oil Replace manual transmission oil - It is a stick. Replace rear differential oil - It's FWD. ??? Replace transfer case oil Clean throttle plate Clean and adjust rear brakes Coolant system flush Replace EFI fuel filter Visual Inspection Now basically that comes to around $700 w/ taxes and B.S. Is all this really necessary on a 2 year old car with 33k miles? The little things I can do, plugs, fuel filter, clean TB, tighten bolts/nuts, roate tires and replace the air filter/cabin filter. The rest, including the inspection, I'd probably just take to Derek and save my ass $500ish.
  6. Now if I got the same work done somewhere other than the dealer, but kept documented proof of said work, this would work just as well, right? Thanks, I know that part of the 30k recommend service by Toyota is to replace the fuel filter. It's a huge service with a bunch of crap thrown in, almost $600, I can get it done by Firestone (read Derek/Turborust on the boards) for under $200 probably.
  7. Good point, but seeing as how we're at 33k+ today and 36k will hit before winter, Warranty is the least of our worries as we don't have much left. I just want to know if I should do it just because or if I should go like 50k, or what? Thanks
  8. Ok, My wife's 2004 Matrix just rolled 30k last month and Toyota recommends to basically flush all fluids, replace all filters etc etc. Is this just a way to make money or should I follow it? I do oil change's every 5k and she drives ALL city. So should I change the fuel filter? The tranny fluid? The coolant? Everything? I mean we do plan on keeping the car for a good 5 years, easily 100k miles so I want to do everything to keep it in prime condition. Thanks guys

  10. Ok, I'm buying an mp3 player. I have found the Dell DJ pocket for $149 w/ free shipping, or I can get an Ipod Nano for $229 w/ student discount. Is there any reason why I shouldn't get the Dell DJ? Sure everyone has the Ipod but I dont care, I just want it for in my car. I already have a Dell Laptop and it works great. Just want to make sure the DJ is just as easy to use and everything. Anyone have expierence? Thanks Matt
  11. Color? Trades? Send pics to BAM6i4@aol.com
  12. Why not secure your own financing and then you'll be ready to buy once you find the car? That's what I did, I could've went through my bank, 5/3, but I got a better rate at my Credit Union, Telhio. I just got pre-approved for 14k and went car searching! Very nice, especially since I didn't have to possibly hurt my credit by having it pulled lots of times by different dealers. good luck

    Hello...

Welcome! He had a Type-RRRRRR swap I do believe. Wanna sell me your rims so I can put them on my wife's car? I'll give you my steelies/hubs and cash?
  14. 2004 Toyota Matrix Silver w/ black cloth Power everything, 5spd manual, keyless entry, FACTORY WARRANTY, 33k miles which are 95% hwy. Gets OVER 40mpg on the freeway and over 30mpg in city. Great on gas! -New tires this summer, Bridgestone Turanza's w/ road hazard warranty. Oil Changes every 5k miles. No problems, the wife just wants an auto. This is just a feeler, as of now we haven't found anything she likes so therefore we won't sell unless we get a good offer. Asking $13000 obo.

  16. Why do you need 4wd in ohio? I can understand a larger vehicle for dogs, but 4wd in ohio is laughable. My sis has a 2000 Jeep grand cherokee, 4wd, v8, etc etc. Gets about 11mpg city and not much better hwy. Rides like ass, my opinion, the thing feels so top heavy not to mention on bumps or things in the road it feels like the car twists. Great power, it launches like none other, lol. Why not look at like a Toyota Matrix or Subaru Forester? Option of 4wd if you want but with much better gas mileage and still plenty of room. Our Matrix has plastic truck and back of rear seats so when you fold them down its easy for clean up. Good luck
  17. Which forum is the GB on? Thanks for the info, maybe I'll see if I can find a mazdaspeed protege to test drive to see if i like the handling/ride.
  18. Hey Mallard, what did they change from the P5 to your Madzaspeed in terms of suspension and breaks? Just stiffen it up or lower it as well? Larger rotors/calipers or what? Does it swap right in or would I have to change out other parts as well? Thanks Matt Oh and yeah I've got a setup of Bridgestone turanza's for winter duties for her car, but I doubt with 58k on the p5 its still on original tires.
  19. Thanks yeah I'll definitely get Derek to check it out. It did sound cheap to me for such a new car w/ not a ton of miles. I wouldn't mind a stick, but that's the reason we're getting her a new car, her current car is a 2004 Toyota Matrix and its a stick, her first one and while she drives it just fine she hates it, and wants an auto again... Thanks guys, I'll search for aftermarket support, maybe she'll let me slam it on some 20's....i kid, i kid.
  20. So then what do you call removing the AC, spare, and rear seat then? And by TON of things to drop weight what do you mean? Basic stuff that applies to all cars or no, because it seems like you've removed the things everyone thinks about, what else could I do to drop weight, I don't need much since it'll only be a track rat/weekend car.
  21. We are looking around for a new vehicle for the wifey and she liked this 2002 Mazda Protege wagon. It's got 58k on it, fully loaded, auto, black on black w/ chrome rims etc. The dealer is asking $7,999. Good deal or no? Any experience with quality or reliability? We just want something that gets good gas mileage while having room. Particularly looking at 4 door hatchbacks. Thanks Matt
  22. Sweet, thanks for the headsup, I'm gonna go check them out this afternoon. What's optispark btw?
