  1. haha... dude, you're just asking for a flame war! tongue.gif He said he want's power... why on earth would he go with a ford? ... haha.... you asked for it
  2. There are downfalls on the LT1 as well as the LS1.... I didn't deny that..... the backwards cooling system, opti spark..... etc.... the LS1 has their's too oil pump, shitty composite intake, weak piston rings, shitty rod bolts, me not owning one.. etc... what I am trying to say is that LT1's are good motor, if you find one that was treated right, it still will produce more power than what you will want. I would probably go with an LT1 just because of the fact that they are cheaper which means more mod money and I'm sure you're on a budget.
  3. I capitolized allot for a reason... my heads are ported just about as much as they can be for LT1 heads...... I use LT4 intake gaskets on it, so I'll say allot better since my heads really can't be ported anymore and I'm using stock LT4 gaskets tongue.gif
  4. I don't think I'll agree with you on that one. The LS1 is by far easier to work on, but a better motor, I won't agree with... both motors have their problems as do any motor..... have you maybe thought about an LT4? those heads flow ALLOT better than LT1 heads.... you can get some nice power out of them.
  5. I have one for a LT1... I don't know if it's the same or not... I broke some of the screws though, so you'll have to pick up the screws that you need for it at any local parts store.... PM me and we'll work somthing out. I don't normally go to Hooters... but I might be able to make an exception... How long will you need the puller for?
  6. The Lid is a good starter mod... I will agree that cutout is a good cheap one also... of course the free mod's... has he thought about a cam? LS6 intake, headers.... that should get him there.
  7. Thanks! being out of the car it isn't nearly as hard, but I honestly don't see a way to do it with it in the car. I'm gonna guess that he didn't either. None-the-less... smart man for replacing it while it was out.
  8. I have the Haynes.... the manifold is sitting on the ground, I pulled it out already, and pulled off that engine mount, when you look down, on the timing chain cover, there are several bolts that are behind the harmonic balancer, so if you don't pull that off, then you cant get the cover off... and if you do manage to get the cover off..... you can't pull the chain off unless you yank that thing also. The book didn't explain that either..... so we tore it all the way down before finally realizing it. I had several people give me 2nd and 3rd opinions, and theirs were the same as mine.
  9. nope, the 2.2 is EASY!!! but the 2.4 is driven off the timing chain. I've already been there.... they said that most places quoted them 600 bucks for labor. Thanks though.
  10. ok, looks like not a single one of these posts is actually a shop where I can get a car worked on tongue.gif
  11. ok, pretty much, my brother in-law has a '97 Sunfire GT 2.4 litre..... we tore it down, but come to find out, in order to change out the water pump, the engine has to be lifted!!!!!!! because the waterpump is driven off of the timing chain, and the only way to get the timing chain cover off and pull the timing chain is to pull the harmonic balancer. But it's right up against the strut tower. They are hurting for money, so I'm trying to find the best and cheapest place that we can find. he already has everything that's needed, we just don't have a cherry picker, and to be honest, that's more work that we are willing to do on his car. Anyone know?
  12. just like the post says... Anyone know of a good shop in this area?
  13. if you get the 2.4 hope that the waterpump doesn't go out.... my brother in-law's just did.the whole fucking engine has to be lifted to change a damn waterpump! (it's driven by the timing chain)
  14. 600 bucks... it my sister and her husband's car and well... they don't have much money... so I was gonna try to help them out.
  15. Does anyone have any documentation on how to replace it? My brother in-law's sunfire has a leaking water pump and he has the haynes manual, but I would like to have more doc's than just that..... I would appriciate anything you know..... We're planning on doing it this weekend. Thanks!
  16. I'm not totally sure I need an ultrasonic cleaning..... this guy is selling a set used... he never used them..... but said that it would be a good idea to test them.....
  17. They want 200 bucks for just standard testing... anywhere cheaper? Also, does anyone know how to test them? maybe and directions on how to do it? I would hate to pay someone that kind of money...
  18. State Services? How much does something like that cost?
  19. Just like it says, where can I get them tested at? I found a set of used 32 lbs'ers for a good price, but I want to test them first.... where can I get them tested at?
  20. To me it is... but yeah, I agree... this would be a stupid thing to argue about.
  21. same thing.... I know we pay allot for them.
  22. yep.... no worries about it... it's an off duty police officer and the LIMITED pays them to patrol the property.... the one on Morse though, I believe is an on duty police officer.
  23. Just an FYI, I saw that someone wrote a post about the police officer sitting in front of the LIMITED on East Broad... he's an off duty police officer that we "Rent" so no worries, he's not clocking anyone... he's there to patrol the LIMITED complex.
