  1. Not a big difference in prices, but the TDIs are much harder to find given there are fewer of them. My wife and I are going to go drive a TDI and a 3.0t.
  2. Help me understand why many of you want diesels. I have read many times how you guys wish such and such car was available with a diesel. I am considering a Q7 with a TDI and after running the numbers, with the premium on diesel fuel (4.17 a gallon today) the numbers do not work out in the diesels favor. I was actually pretty excited to look at one, what am I missing? At this point the 3.0t makes a ton more sense. EPA MPG : Q7 TDI - 17/25 Q7 3.0t - 16/22
  3. What about a Cadillac XTS? I really like the looks of them and I am sure it would be beyond cushy.
  4. Thanks Scott and everyone else. Good to be able to bounce ideas off people who know this stuff much better than I do. The pile of parts is growing in my garage to get this pile ready for Spring.
  5. On the one I posted, it is a single fuel line feed. The one I pulled off was a dual line feed. Is there any advantage to the dual line other than being able to run more fuel? This thing will be an around the town cruiser - almost stock. I am thinking the single would be fine and should be easy to convert. Thoughts?
  6. Thank you Nick. I may just take you up on that, a good reason I frequent this site! I found what appears to be a good deal: Holley # 80457 - 600 CFM - electric choke - 199.99 (factory remanufacture). Any thoughts?
  7. Ok this confirms what I was thinking. Any recommendations on brands besides Holley or is that the route to go?
  8. I am working on getting my daughter's 66 GMC Pick up with a 79 Chevy 350 ready for Spring. I pulled off the carburator to rebuild it and was doing a little research. The carb is a Holley 3310-6 which I gather is a 750 CFM with a vacuum secondary. It is also a manual choke, which was not even hooked up. The parts store gave me the wrong rebuild kit which I did not even notice until I opened it so now they won't take it back. Anyways, should I go ahead and rebuild this thing or get a new carb in a smaller size? Would a 600 or 650 CFM model do better for a very mild to stock 350? While I am at it I suppose I could also upgrade to an electric choke? I appreciate any insight - this is the first time I have tackled a carb and while it is very interesting it is a bit overwhelming as most that know carbs know it so well it is hard for them to dumb it down!
  9. I hate winter but love having a Suburban for it. It is a blast to drive in heavy snow.
  10. I was going to challenge you to a race until I saw the custom trunk separator ;-). Awesome build man!
  11. It sounds like the "625" was a low estimate they knew they would hit. I read some stories this morning that indicate it will make much more..,
  12. You could jump on 33 and head to marysville and go to Bernie's? Kind of a whole in the wall but has always been good when we have been there.
  13. Congrats dude - I am glad I am not the only one that is always thinking "what's next".
  14. Unfortunately the taillights are what most drivers will be looking at...
  15. Yeah I don't think selling the caddy will be an issue on here.
  16. Thanks for the replies. I am looking to replace the Suburban and am considering going down to one car, for now. So getting rid of the Caddy too. Long and short of it is I don't have the room for the 5 cars (2 teenage drivers) we have now or the time to maintain them like I want to. I have had 3 Suburbans and have loved them all, but know that I might go crazy driving one of those every day. I would be looking at something nearly new not older with higher miles. I noticed they added the 3.0t recently. Probably just need to drive them
  17. Years to avoid? 4.2 or TDI? I know you will all say TDI but I have never had a diesel and love the sound of a v8.
  18. Man I hate torque steer. Never again for me. Had a GTI 1.8t and it was not terrible but noticeable and it was slow. Got a 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 which redefined torque steer for me. First time I punched it I thought I broke something as the steering wheel tried to detach my hands and it headed for the ditch...then the middle lane. I was like WTF? Ohhhhh so that is torque steer.
  19. It seems you are driven enough to go it alone but I have found it more rewarding to work with a trainer. I go to Northern Performance near the intersection of 23 and Powell road. It is a small gym with a couple of really good trainers and quality equipment. At 41 I am in the best shape of my life. Congrats by the way, that is a monumental achievement!
  20. Wouldn't let you test drive a Prius? Get outta here...that is bs.
  21. Cheap, reliable, or fast....choose 2
  22. In a moment of sudden motivation I reread it....it is 4 secs faster around the Nurburgring
