  1. When someone steals my phone I would rather then cut my finger off than my face :-)
  2. Must....not.....grab....checkbook....
  3. Same dude got me 2 years ago. Friday night rush hour through 5 lanes of traffic. Him:"You know why I pulled you over?" Me: "Uh no". Him:You have no front plate. Me: Seriously? Him: yes, want me to impound it?
  4. I love this car as I get to enjoy it every day and the family does not complain when we take it on family outings. When I had the WS6 there would be complaining about it being too cramped inside, too loud, too rough. It has a great exhaust note - many do not expect that sound from a Cadillac. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v96/casey02ws6/d6ea83e5-fb34-4630-89ac-5935f3ac63d5_zps67d33710.jpg
  5. I got the Revshift motor mounts first and, while the product was good, it took them 6 weeks to deliver it so I tried CS for the differential bushing. It was delivered in 2 days. I rented the removal tool and would highly recommend it. It made the job so much easier.
  6. Congrats - that is a good price on a 2007. I recently put in Revshift motor mounts and a creative steel differential bushing and they made a huge difference. If yours are still stock they are shot. That would be my first "mod". As for CTSv rear ends there are 4 "generations" that started in 2005 to address the concerns. It is an aluminum housing that distorts under power so while the 4th gens are better they still are not up to a ton of power. I am not sure this is the car for auto cross...save up for tires and brakes. Throwing a 3800 pound car around a course is going to cost you.
  7. Thanks for all of the opinions here. It really explains why I have been so conflicted. I passed on the first one, but I am still looking. I think it will end up as a toy/weekend car for all the reasons you guys state but we will see.
  8. I think we are going to compromise to a certain extent. My thought now is she can drive it back and forth to school / work and some weekend cruises but she can take one of our other, safer cars for other needs. I may change my mind but we will see. Nothing is more important to me than her safety but given how we intend for it to be used I think the risk is minimal. She won't want to take this thing on the highway anyways. I know I can get the moneuly back out of it if needed.
  9. I am probably headed south to drive this truck (we saw it at Good Guys). I may just buy it and figure out whether it is an "extra" car, an investment to flip, or her primary. Thanks again for the replies, I have lost some sleep on this one.
  10. You guys nailed it..I want this to be an opportunity to do something together. You cannot make additional time. They grow up way too fast. Thanks again for all the good thoughts. I am not sure what I am going to do at this point.
  11. Good info here guys. I had not seen that video and, frankly, it terrifies me. The only thing I will add is where she will be driving. I live less than 3 miles from where she goes to school . 95% of her driving will be back and forth to school much like her older sister. This would not be a "road trip" kind of car. That was really the only reason I was considering this. I would love to pick it up as a toy for her and I to work on and get another car for her to drive I simply don't have anywhere to put it. This car would be # 5 for my family which is tough when you live in a subdivision I guess I have some more thinking to do.
  12. I should add she is a straight A student...smart kid. Very responsible...also VERY convincing . I talked to a few people at work and they thought I was crazy. Unfortunately I work with a bunch of people who have no interest in cars and could not change a tire on their own if their life depended on it. They kept saying civic, corolla, etc. which I cannot argue with...rationally at least.
  13. Ok my 15 year old daughter decided about a year ago that she wanted a 60's era Chevy pickup as a first car. More specifically she wants a "farm" truck, dents rust and all. Among the reasons she wants the truck is she wants to learn how to work on it and take of it which I thought was kind of cool and it may have blinded my judgement. I found one that she fell in love with...a 1964 C10. It has a later model 350 V8 in it, new brakes, tires, and a couple of new body panels. Seems pretty solid. So, no abs, airbags, power steering or brakes and it is a 3 on the tree... Would you let your daughter learn to drive in such a beast? I will be outfitting it with 3 point belts and will likely upgrade to disc brakes in the front and power steering. An auto is probably on the list too. So what would CR do?

  15. I have not mastered it yet but you should have dampers in the ducts (little levers that close or open the duct) in the basement which direct airflow. Reduce the airflow to the ones feeding the downstairs vents and run the ones to the upstairs wide open. You should also buy some duct or aluminum tape and seal the seams in the ducts in the basement - there is a lot of air lost in shotty duct connections.

Give me your number I have a potential buyer.
  17. Took my Suburban to Bill and not only did he fix the problem he came in under the estimate which was already reasonable. It is hard to find trustworthy mechanics, I am glad to include Bill Dozzer as one of them. I would not hesitate to recommend him. Besides while you are there you can check out his awesome diesel rat rod project!
  18. They made the same color in 2007 but called it something different I think
  19. You clearly have not met Clay
  20. I will copy and paste when I get home. It is a complete custom built pro charger kit for a CTSv. Made 850 RWHP. Wants 6800. Pics are awesome.
