We had no snow, all ice. Lost a few trees out back but nothing crazy. I'm waiting for a bit of a thaw before I go attempt any cleanup.

If COVID taught us anything, it’s that we can survive without leaving the house..... for weeks.

I go in to Fedex and the counter lady pulls up my company account, then I pay cash. She said people do it all the time, use a company rate but pay CC or cash so the company doesn't get charged. Can try something like that also if they'll allow it.

From what I read, lawyers were pushing her to go for a lawsuit.

Over my way they were initially calling for 18" to 2 feet, that has since dwindled all the way down to ~3" but now they are calling for 1/4-1/2" of ice, which is a lot. I think it'll be something, but I can't say what yet. We've already gotten more than 3" of snow on the first round but it broke up pretty quick. I'm guessing we'll get a decent amount on round 2, I'd guess 6" at least. I'm more worried about the ice. I dug the generator out so I'm ready to rock regardless. With all this demand on the power grid showing issues, I can't wait till we all start plugging our cars in. :gabe:

I don’t expect anyone in this thread to have their minds changed, but I hope to at least provide some insight that another may not have the same views or opinions on everything they do. If we can at least gain an understanding of the differing opinion, maybe they can have some compassion or consider compromise on some disagreements. Sadly, it seems as though if you disagree you just get shouted at louder until they feel their opinion drowns out yours and they’ve won. Hence why I’ve pretty much stopped posting in many threads that skew.

That place is gonna be LIT! I’ve been meaning to swap out the lights in my basement for a while. This almost gives me motivation to start.

You ever put gasoline or wd-40 on your hands? You aren’t supposed to do that either. It’s all perspective really. Perhaps, but did you read they had an anesthesiologist present? And there was a doctor involved. The procedure may have been “donated” but there might have been other costs. Like, for example, how did she get there? Airfare, transportation, lodging, meals. Did she make a buck? Maybe, was it worth it? You couldn’t pay me 20k to go through all that.

I’ve got stories for days about grid problems but they are more of an “over a beer” type discussion. I just can’t wait until electric cars are mandated then people go through the roof when they can’t figure out why their electric bill more than doubles.

I’ve always heard greyhound and other alternatives are cheaper but when I’ve tried to use them I’ve never been successful. Please let us know if you get it to work out.

That's my thought, transition over instead of a flat mandate. I could also see a 50/50 mix of very high efficiency gas and electric. Short commutes? Electric sure, far off travelers can stick to a very high efficiency gas car.

Those are the types of people who get their "news" from facebook or just see a headline and make assumptions without looking at FACTS. I feel bad for the girl. Likely she's used some type of "glue" product before without realizing all glues are not created equal. This time the glue got the better of her.

Be likely easier just to rebuild them imho. Anything coating isn’t going to add much strength unless it soaks in very well and the particle board will continue to deteriorate.

I don’t know how much strength it would add being a surface coat, but when they make particle board now they vacuum impregnate the resin into it.
