  1. $0.91/day in electric cost? Seems low for a mining rig.

    Old elevators

^ That’s the kind of stuff I’m used to working on in the old steel mills and power plants. Motors made in the 1950’s that have never been out for service yet still work all day every day. Typically there’s AC coming in, we run it through an MG set to convert it to DC and run our gear on the DC.

There’s an escalator that we power with old leather belts and wooden pulleys to this day. It’s to show the durability of our old parts that were made in the late 1890’s I believe. Even with stretch, there’s a tensioner.
  5. I believe that about as much as I believe Facebook is good for people. EDIT: If I have to do it for work, I will but I'm not a fan.

That shit is built like a tank though. We have some OLD pulleys at our Maysville office.
  7. Holy shit, can we AGREE ON SOMETHING!!?? Unpossible!! I'm not "foil hat" afraid of the .gov, I just don't like databases of info I can't have access to. If there's nothing bad being done with this collected info why can't I see it and what they are doing with it? It's bad enough your health insurer has a database on you that you can't see.
  8. You're a tater..... https://www.vaccines.gov/basics/work/protection
  9. I'd get the vaccine, i'm not afraid of it at all. I just doubt it's efficacy and I don't want to be a digital passport.
  10. they aren’t there, they are in this thread :gabe: They may not be out there like you think they should be, but they are out there o-plenty. I’ll refrain from finger pointing but we all know who they are. If you don’t, you are either uninformed or one of them. But I’m not trying to change your mind. I am open minded enough to give creepy joe a fair chance. You are the one in here spouting walls of text and premium word salads (thanks wags) showing why those who don’t agree with you are wrong. Nah, don’t need to. I’m just some stupid uninformed person who won’t pick a side because I don’t subscribe to either flavor koolaide.
  11. Extreme Biden supporters should also be squashed. Where to draw the line? While we’re at it let’s just start squashing all supporters. No athletic supporters either. Free dem boobs.
  12. Once again you don’t listen and only try to show why everyone else who doesn’t agree is wrong. If he’s impeached he can never hold office again. If they let it go, he can run again. That seems simple to me.
  13. Based on the protests/riots the President is being charged with, I’d say there are many that don’t agree with the bills and general decisions coming out of Washington DC. I’m not charging either side with the sole responsibility whereas I’d bet there are many of us “uninformed people” who could lean one way or the other that are dissatisfied with Washington DC. They sure have no issue passing raises for themselves though, but I’ll yield to your wisdom though as you always have the answer.
  14. Wow this thread turned south. Regardless, you call it bipartisanship, I call it scratching each other’s backs while screwing Americans. That’s true politics as we stand today.
  15. I never claimed to be a fan of McConnell, but with the divide we currently have, is he using his power to try and force compromise from the opposite side? Wrong or right, that's where we are. :masturboy::masturboy::masturboy: Wait, are you sidestepping and being vague? Seems so, you allude to the fact that there IS INDEED rum but we don't need more. Hmm.....
  16. I'm not trying to win anything, but many of these replies appear more about changing someone's mind or showing them why they are "wrong" rather than listening and simply discussing. If this is what the country has become, no wonder there are more and more shoving their heads in the proverbial sandbar that may or may not exist. There's nothing wrong with being a general good human being without picking a side. Though it seems to me if you haven't chosen a side they both will come at you to prove your are misinformed, wrong and unamerican.
  17. But are we on the sandbar because of BS extras that keep getting added to all these bills? Is the sandbar imaginary or is it really there at all?
  18. Many of us "stupid people" that won't choose a side are relying on the fact that these "public servants" have their constituents in their best interest as their job intended them to. However, we can see that appears not to be the case as the divide and desire for power and being "right" just continues to grow.
  19. Yep If they pay taxes and work towards legal status, I have no problem with them being here. The issue lies when people came here legally but some bureaucratic bullshit changed their status to "illegal". I know of people that this happened to, and they are still fighting the system to stay. The rest I 100% agree with.
  20. Agreed, but your "story" above was ironic to me in that you are adamant the other side doesn't even see the sandbar. Terrible example.
  21. I can agree with aspects from both sides, the issue lies in the fact that each side is more in it for their own rather than "the people". Everyone here can see this divide growing and with the push for power, it's going to grow deeper and deeper until we have violence and death. OH WAIT!
  22. All I see is a wall of words intended to make those of us who refuse to buy into each side's hypocrisy feel stupid. Congratulations, you've now alienated more people in this thread. EDIT: There's nothing wrong with feeling that both sides are stupid when this polarization is so deep each party is so blind in thinking their side is absolutely right, best, perfect, bunch of other words.
  23. https://thefederalist.com/2021/01/12/the-biggest-gun-forum-on-the-planet-was-just-kicked-off-the-internet-without-explanation/
  24. My thought is, the two party system was originally intended to contrast and allow for discussion and COMPROMISE. However, we have become so polarized that people no longer want to discuss or compromise as they blanketly feel their side is the correct one. Many can see strengths and weaknesses in both parties but the power they have over the general population is scary. This is the silent American that needs to wake up and make actual change happen.
