JP driving a BMW Sedan... now I've seen EVERYTHING.

I haven't touched this stuff in about 6-7 years, if I recall correctly it's a ~91-94 ECU. Even if it were a 90, it just requires 2 pins to be swapped on the harness, this can be done without cutting or soldering, all you need is a T-pin or even a paper clip to release the terminals. FYI - I've notified Jesse of multiple inquiries, regarding his parts car. On top of the ECU: MD128625 E2T34474 9Z01 On the side of the ECU: 8625 E2T34474 Open to offers on all parts, but fully expecting KentState to buy the entire lot!

I get it, 90% of Americans with an average of $200K in debt don't. It's like telling a person that's 200 lbs overweight that they should exercise 7 times a week, meal prep, and read books about human physiology. OR you could tell them to stop drinking the 10 liters of soda they consume on a daily basis and walk for 15 minutes a few times a week for a small victory and head them in the right direction. These are "Baby Steps" after all. Back on topic - I've yet to buy a new car for myself! And I drove a 1995 Honda Accord for 11 years, after I started my career. Sadly, I sold it to a friend in need last Fall, so I no longer own it.

Reason -- To help your average American.... 1) Build good habits and financial discipline 2) Stay motivated 3) Actually pay off debt versus save and splurge It's about setting smaller goals, achieving them, and building momentum.

A mortgage payment is supposed to be below 28% of your monthly gross income. Clearly, your down payment will change your monthly liability, but I am also an old school thinker that if you can not put 20% down, then you probably shouldn't be buying that house for a majority of the population. Sure rates are great now, but most people don't have the discipline to save and or invest that money that would be tied up in that down payment and end up accumulating more debt in luxury items like cars, boats, and vacations...the debt cycle

I've look at it the same way and a few other ways. Lately my focus is on the following: 1) Debt to Income ratio, monthly = (total debt payments/ gross income) ; Being from a mortgage financing background you know this ratio/term. If you're above 43%, you probably won't get a qualified mortgage. What are you comfortable with? 2) Debt Ratio, overall = (Total Debt / Total Assets) ; how much debt are you willing to take on in your big picture? Most "advisers" would recommend not spending anymore than 20% of your gross yearly income on a vehicle, and would prefer it if was more like 10%. You're a car guy, you tend to do your research and get good deals, and can maintain them. This is a positive and a negative, because you desire more and are most likely going to go as much as 40-50% because it doubles as enjoyment/hobby in addition to the typical commuting.

For those interested in accumulation of wealth versus the accumulation of income try reading or listening to The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J. Stanley.
