  1. i know exactly how you feel. Right now i'm attending the Defense Language Institute where the Marine Corps has me learning Arabic. every single one of our teachers is Arab. now granted, most of them understand english VERY well, but there are a few that have such a low grasp on english that it makes learning arabic from them impossible. these teachers, of course, i hate... and they probably hate me. so yeah, i feel your frustration... for 7 hours... every day...

Interesting enough, i had a guy pay for my dinner last night. Its little things like that, that make being in the military worth it. I see so much anti-war, anti-Bush, and anti-troops stuff on a regular basis. Its nice knowing that there really are some appreciative people in this country, that really do like having us around...

I would've posted a big OOOOOORRRAAAHHHH!!! on the 10th as well, but i was busy getting trashed at the Ball. Again, happy birthday devil dogs, and unconditional thanks goes out to any veterans out there as well.

well as far as i'm concerned, if it is a movie that is based off a book, then there is no reason why it can't be mentioned in a "review" (if that's what you want to call this thread).

its pretty simple, really. You make sure they all have haircuts within Marine Corps regs, don't call each other "Soldiers", and don't refer to Sergeants as "Sarge" or "Commanding Officer." it was just simple shit like that, that ruined the whole movie.

I would suggest reading the book before seeing the movie. The movie leaves out a lot of key elements that are explained in the book. All in all, i thought it was a good movie, and a good book as well. As far as what most Marines thought... about 1 out of every 2 that were at the theater with me, liked it. So its about 50/50. I will admit that it was pretty cool when the very first showing of it here in Monterey was sold out, and the place was full of fellow Devil Dogs...

i thought it was fucking gay. They shouldn't of made them Marines, unless they were going to protray them accurately...
  8. ^^^ I guess that's a "Yes"!
  9. mmm... parents were looking for $1200 or so i think. if you're really interested PM me, and i'll give you their phone number...
  10. mmm... i'm not sure if eclipses are 4-lug (i think they're 5)... and if you really want the car, then sure. my parents have been tryin to get rid of that POS for a while now, lol. rims would be seperate though. also, car is back to stock, no neons, no stereo, no TV, no PS2, nothing...
  11. Graphite Finish with polished lip 17"x7" 40mm offset 4x100 and 4x114 bolt pattern (will fit most Honda/Acura models) mild curb rash tires still in decent condition Umm, unsure as to the price. I'd like around $500 but that is negotiable. Also, the wheels are not with me in Cali, they are with my parents in ohio, so delivery/pick-up may be possible. Tire specs are as follows: Kumho/Ecsta 711 Radial Tubless 205/40R17 8011 Pics: http://www.oznium.com/gallery/photos/full/3772/bobby-lee-ford-escort http://www.oznium.com/gallery/photos/full/3773/bobby-lee-ford-escort http://www.oznium.com/gallery/photos/full/4841/bobby-lee-ford-escort
  12. I watch CNN every now and then, and i've heard that some of the hospital staff in New Orleans were actually arming themselves in order to keep the looting drug addicts away. Damn, i'd love to be in New Orleans right now... chilling on a roof top with a .50 cal :finger:
  13. Hey, i appreciate it. Monterey is such a yuppie town that all they talk about around here is how many problems the military causes in the area. it seems like every weekend there's another anti war/troops protest going on down by the beach. we marines usually get most of the heat, since we're more aggressive and usually won't stand for any of that "baby killer" shit. pretty much every monday morning there's another marine popped and locked in front of Master Guns because of some hippy's ass he beat the weekend before. Like you said, people just aren't appreciative of what we do. But its the people that do say "Thank You" that make it all worth while... Semper Fi, Lee
  14. Yep, every branch has people here. It kind of sucks on one hand though, there are so many fucking Airmen everywhere that i just want to strangle them, but... the Air Force does have a lot of hotties. So..... :leghump:
  15. Haha, jarhead... interesting i never hear that around here, lol. Anyways, to answer your question Anthony... Marine Corps.
  16. Well, i finally decided to come over and check this board. I know its been a while, and a lot has changed, but i'm glad that i'm back and posting again. Only thing is that i no longer reside in Ohio. I'm stationed out in Monterey, CA right now, where i'll be at for about another year. i will be visiting home around christmas time though, so maybe i'll come out to a meet. Also, the UFO Escort is no more, its been stripped and my parents are trying to sell it (offers are welcome just PM me). Right now i'm driving a 2005 Scion tC (yeah, yeah, yeah, don't hate), and have already started to mod it as well. Anyways, just thought i'd check in and let y'all know what i've been up to... Semper Fi, Lee
  17. Well, I'm safe and sound in Monterey, CA (without the UFO however). I'll be here for at least the next year and a half. I'm actually in the market for a new car, as some of you know the former UFO is being sold by my parents. I hope to keep in touch with you all, and will share how my car search to modifications go. I'm looking at getting another Escort, however i think this time around i'll be doing speed mods rather than glow. Anywho, wish me luck! Semper Fi, Bobby Lee
  18. No shit. You could always join the military. But oh wait, you could get shot and die in Iraq fighting for the freedom of innocent, less fortunate people. Did everyone catch the sarcasm in that statement? Good. I'm tired of hearing people bitch about how there's no jobs available. Bullshit motherfuckers. My recruiter (as well as all the other recruiters from every branch), have to work their asses off each month in order to meet their quota. What's that mean? It means that people are lazy hypocrits that are constantly complaining about the problems in our world but aren't willing to make a difference themselves. Plus, i can't think of any other job that carries a 100% job security title like the military. As long as you aren't a fat, disgusting lard ass, i see no reason why you shouldn't be considering the military if you are currently out of a job. Believe me, the military is desperate. Shit the Army just increased their yearly quota by 30,000 and the Marine Corps increased theirs by 3,000. Each branch is practically fighting the others to get people to join their branch...
  19. Marine Corps... fresh out of Parris Island...
  20. I would give them the utmost respect, but what is more important is how we treat those that fought during WWII and Vietnam today. Often when i'm out and about in uniform i'll have former Marines, or even Army, come up to me and thank me for what i'm doing. Instead of saying,"Thanks alot" i say,"No thank you, sir." What those men and women did back in the '40s, '50s, and '60s should never be taken for granted. What they did back then has allowed me to be where i am now...
  21. Lol... i haven't had that kind of reaction, but a lot of people have said that I've changed. I stand up taller, actually wear clothes that fit, and have a cocky attitude (at least thats what they say). You're right though, a lot of the guys that gave me shit before I left are nice to me now, and its not like I gained 50 lbs. of muscle. I'm still fairly scrawny...
  22. Haha! Yep, that brings back memories now. I was 3rd Battalion, Kilo Company, PLT 3001. You might be surprised to here that our PLT set the new Regimental record for Final Drill at a 79.65! Apparently we made history on Parris Island. We're the FIRST males to ever drill on the 4th Battalion parade deck (they wanted to see how to REALLY "pop sticks"), they took the video of our final drill and incorporated it into part of a video that they use for teaching at the drill instructor school, and most importantly we broke the record. Our Senior D.I. had 20-30 D.I.'s from all over the Island over at his house to watch our tape on his big screen. There was also a boot-leg video of our final drill that was secretly taken by another D.I. I tell you this, because I'm sure you actually now just how big all that is. I tell people (friends/family) back home, and they're just like,"Oh, well that's nice." I remember all that kind of shit. We never had to get dressed 36 times, but 5 or 6 times wasn't abnormal. Our Drill Hat made us do 50 Marine Corps pushups when we got up on New Year's Day. Appparently that's how they celebrate the New Year down there tongue.gif . Do the words "Spirit" and "Discipline" mean much to you? Those two words and "The Pit" will forever be engraved in my mind. I haven't really had any run-ins since I've been home where I thought that I might need to utilize a horizontal elbow strike, but I will say that many people that I didn't mind before, now disgust me. Nasty civilians... tongue.gif
  23. Lol, naw it's all good. I still have the Escort, although its as close to stock form as its going to get. It'll get sold when I leave in February for more training. I'll try and make it to a meet or two. We'll see how busy I am over these next couple weeks. As far as bootcamp being hard... its more mental than physical, unless you go down there a complete lazy slob. If you're in fairly good shape going into it, then it isn't very hard. The mental aspect is the hardest. No matter good you or your plattoon does, you're still a piece of shit, and they'll tell you that straight to your face. They do that all the way to the end. The day before graduation, you're a piece of shit, nasty recruit, and then the next day you're a fellow Devil Dog. The biggest problem is that recruits don't understand just why the Drill Instructors do the kind of things they do. Most recruits think its because they hate their job and hate every single recruit, but its actually just the opposite. They crush you every chance they get, because it makes you stronger mentally and physically. They're so tough on you because they care about the Corps and wouldn't be able to live with themselves if they knew they were putting pieces of shit into THEIR Corps. The easiest way to make it through is to not think. They do all the thinking for you. Just do what they say, when they tell you to, and as quickly as you can with out question and you'll do just fine. We were told from day one that speed, intensity, and volume are all you need to complete recruit training, and they weren't lying. Oh, and the "Brain wash" rumor is true. Your attitude will completely change once you've been through that shit...
  24. Me! Well, I'm back. Three long months in South Carolina, and now I'm back home and proud to say that I'm a Marine. I look forward to continuing where I left off for the short period of time that I'm home. It's nice being back! Semper Fi
