    Edmund Fitzgerald ftw
  2. Anybody have a TW DVR? Is it a piece of shit like mine, or does anybody have any good experiences with them? I had heard that they were kinda crappy, but I didn't realize it would be this bad. I don't know how TW can possibly make money on them. Please let me know if anybody has had any of these issues: 1. completely freezing for no apparent reason. cannot change channel or even turn power off without unplugging 2. not recording shows, even when I have it set up to record "season." I can see the show in the channel guide, why can't the DVR? 3. stopping recording in the middle of shows 4. not stopping recording at the end of shows and recording the same channel for about, oh, 5 hours. This is a pain in the ass when it decides to do this on an HD channel and it deletes about half of your saved shows. Is this normal? Or is this the shittiest piece of electronics equipment ever? Calling Time-Warner tomorrow. Of course, that means I will probably have to be home for the service call, all for the "convenience" of DVR. And still no Big Ten Network. SCREW YOU TIME WARNER!!! . . . . Sorry had to vent.
  3. Wii sports is kinda simple, but still fun. Bowling and golf are my favorite. Wii play is kinda dumb, but since it is only an extra $10 more than a second controller (it comes packaged with one), it is worth it. The only other game I have is Metroid Prime 3. I don't play video games a lot, but the "novelty" of the Wii certainly hasn't worn off. There aren't a lot of great games for "hardcore" gamers out there now, but there will be as programmers learn what they can and can't do with the controllers. Where Wii really excels is playing with other people, either with families or at parties. Games like Mario Party and Wii sports are simple and fun enough for everybody to enjoy. Even my gf's parents thought Wii bowling was fun. And the best part that hasn't been mentioned yet is that you can download a bunch of the old Nintendo games for like $5/each: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Virtual_Console_games_%28North_America%29 As for accessories, I would definitely recommend some rechargeable batteries. The controllers take 2 AAs each, and the will suck through regular alkalines like there is no tomorrow.
  4. Finally revenge for spoiling our undefeated regular season in bball in 2005! (And you know us Illini take our basketball seriously.) Seriously, though, the reason Tressel didn't challenge the fumble was because the game was only about 2minutes in. Why waste the timeout so early in the game if you're wrong? Although that play did occur right in front of our seats and I will concede that it *may* have been a fumble... And the reason he called the time-out before the punt was because he probably didn't think OSU could get the right men on the field before the snap. When he called the TO, there were 2 or 3 guys trying to get off the field before the punt.
  5. IIRC, Auto Assets in Powell has a selection of race seats on their showroom floor that you can try out. Don't remember if they have Recaro or not, maybe just Sparco. But it doesn't hurt to call and ask...
  6. haha. Beat 'em and Eat 'em. I like how he has the radio control joysticks.
  7. I'm pretty sure they are located in Sweden, which would make them Swedish, not Swiss. (Sorry, couldn't help myself)
  8. Haha. Intellectual Whore. Forgot completely about that web page.
  9. I believe the only Japanese plant in the country that is unionized is the Chrysler/Mitsubishi plant (which builds Eclipses and Sebrings) in Normal, IL. No North American Honda or Toyota plant is unionized. Unions had their time and place, but they are outdated, IMO. All they do is protect the lazy American worker. Do a google search for "UAW job bank" and you will see just how outdated the UAW really is.
  10. Since it sounds like this is the "I just tuned my RX-7 thread," thought I'd give an update: Got the rebuilt turbos (again) on the car, and dyno tuned it on Thursday. Final run was 315rwhp, 262tq @12psi (stock IC.) On the third pull, it put down close to 330, but we were getting some boost breakup at high rpms. Overall, the car is much easier to drive, and the power is nice and linear.
  11. Correct. Since VW group owns Lamborghini, the R8 is just a sexier Gallardo (is that even possible?) The prevailing opinion in the industry is that Audi will wait 1 or 2 years and come out with an "S" model using the Lambo V10.
  12. Barley's brew house. They (obviously) make their own beer. Upscale bar-ish type food, and a good price. It's across from North Market.
  13. However, Big Ten network is great for someone like me: a fan of a "non-premium" team (Illinois) that would allow me to watch more Illinois games on the network. I think Illinois has had maybe 1 football game per year on regular TV in the 6 years that I have lived in Columbus, and that includes the year they won the Big Ten. The Big Ten network will also show all the coaches shows, plus CCHA hockey. I think the channel is a great idea *in theory*, but I think the BTN and the cable companies need to get the sand out of their vaginas, and stop holding the fans hostage. Let's just say that I wouldn't want to be in the offices of either the BTN or the cable companies on the first day that fans won't be able to see games. Fortunately for me, the first Illinois game is versus Missouri and will be on ESPN2!
  14. This one's way better: http://www.dorks.com/videos/Car-Bumper-Rip-Off.html Oldie but a goodie
  15. You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought.
  16. Advertisements for the Big Ten network; some of them are particularly funny. I especially like OSU, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Illinois, Penn State, and Purdue are okay, too. http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1119323716?bclid=1119240676&bctid=1125950002
  17. I had originally intended to put this in my RX-7 in order to lower the seating position, but seeing as I have now had the seat for about 4 years now and haven't installed it yet, I think it's time to sell it! (Besides, I have other things to worry about with that car...) Anyways, I am selling one Recaro Pole Position SPG seat with steel side rails. The color is black, and it looks exactly like the one described in the link below: http://www.advancedmotorsport.com/recaro/poleposition.htm Like I said in the first paragraph, it has never been used, and has been sitting in a closet for the past four years. I can send pics upon request. Price for seat and mounting brackets: $400
  18. I've never been, but I've heard good things about Bob's Bar, which just opened on High Street across from TeeJay's.
  19. My brother just showed me this, and I had never seen it before. Real handy for those of us that don't have/won't pay for mobile web: http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/mobile/sms/ (I used it to find the start time of the Bulls-Pistons game tonight)
  20. Well, my lease ended on the TL (awhile ago, actually), and I need to get some extra accessories out of my house (as well as some extra money in wallet!) All parts are for a 2004-current TL. I can send pictures upon request. OEM Beige carpet floormats - $40, these are NIB, and have never been used. I bought them because I know how dirty tan interiors can get! OEM Tan all-weather floormats - $50, I used these for one winter. I had leased the car with the black mats, but I didn't like them in the tan interior, so I bought these. OEM Trunk tray - $50 OEM Full Nose Mask - $80
  21. I've found it depends on the color of your car. Dark tints will look lighter if you have a black car. As it is, if you want to stay completely legal, get 50% in the front doors, and 35% the rest of the car. Otherwise, get 35% all the way around. That is what I have on both of my cars, and it is just perfect for me.
  22. I think I might ask my gf if she want to go the symphony with me! http://www.columbusarts.com/eventdetail.php?EventId=51541 http://www.columbussymphony.com
  23. for $500-$1000 dollars you could take a JetBlue flight to New York and stay in a nice® hotel for a long weekend. Tickets are only $39 each way. Of course, you might get stranded on the runway for 11 hours...
  24. 1. CNN Headline News 2. ESPN (it's a love-hate relationship) 3. Columbus snow removal services 4. people who drive in the left lane 5. people who don't vote 6. stupid people that think they know what they are talking about (really, I'll respect you more if you just tell me you don't know) 7. Time Warner 8. people that don't work hard 9. the month of February: it's cold, it's dark, and there are no good sports on TV 10. shitty beer, and the people that keep it in their fridge 11. people that expect me to be a Buckeye fan, especially the ones that assume that because OSU is better than Illinois (at football, basketball, whatever), then that makes them better than me
