  1. Just wanted to let you guys know. My work (Honda R& D in Raymond) fielded a car at the 25 hour endurance race at Thunderhill. They entered a TL (which is designed and built in Ohio) into one of the stock classes, and not only won their class, but placed third overall, behind 2 Porsche 911s! I thought this was a tremondous feat, considering all of the design, fabrication and even driving was done by Honda R&D employees. Here are a couple of links: Honda Tech Thread NASA results Temple of VTEC Announcement
  2. Yes, that is the exact memory that I am selling
  3. I upgraded to a full gig of RAM, so I have two DDR modules from Crucial lying around. Here is the link for the specs. Looking to get $60 for the pair.
  4. It's funny that Kmart is so dumpy out here. A friend of mine is from upstate New York and he said that out there, Kmart is the nicer store, and the WalMarts are the dumpy ones. And they don't even have Meijer or Target. He was pretty shocked when he moved to Columbus!
  5. I have a pair of general admission tickets to see OAR at Promowest tonight at 8pm (doors at 7.) I'm feeling a little sick, so I don't really want to go anymore. List price is $25/each, but I'll let them go for $15/each.
  6. but not in the best way. she was caught lip-syncing on SNL. ha ha ha ha.
  7. Okay thanks. Didn't even know that place existed.
  8. ha ha. Ass hats. I drove over there (from Marysville!) to look at an RX7 and they were complete ass hats. It was in pretty shitty condition, and they were asking 18,000. They wouldn't let me test drive it (claimed it had mechanical problems), so I told them to call me when I could drive it. Well, it must have been way overpriced, cause they called me about 4 months later, telling me that I could drive the car. Of course, I had already owned my car for about 3 months, so I told them to stick it. Ass hats.
  9. Okay. Expect a call in the near future. Do you do powdercoating too?
  10. Anybody know of any (preferrably local) places that will polish and powdercoat some of my engine bay stuff? Thanks.
  11. I don't think that stuff would take the smell out. The only Wilson's stuff that I have seen is conditioner for the leather. The smell is most likely not in the leather so much as it is in the lining, which is probably some kind of polyester. So, to disagree, I think the best way to get rid of the smell would be to get the coat dry cleaned. (Of course, it doesn't hurt to have leather conditioner around, as you should condition your leather at least once a year, so you could try the Wilson's stuff, then, if that doesn't work, then get it dry cleaned.)
  12. Could be, but I've never seen one of those, either!
  13. Apparently MAG (Midwestern Auto Group in Dublin) has a used McLaren F1 for sale. I checked their webpage, but there is no information about it. Can anyone confirm/deny this? I might have to cruise over there this weekend just to check it out.
  14. I know that that car used to be owned by the guy that owns Auto Assets in Powell. Super nice guy, he let us see he restoration shop. But that car has really deteriorated since he owned it and I think there is too much work and money to be put into that car to make it worthwhile for your average guy.
  15. Saw it last night, and I haven't laughed that hard, or been so offended, since the first time I saw the South Park movie. "You had me a dicks fuck assholes" graemlins/lol.gif

    fwd vs awd

Actually, I would argue the point the other way. Most "professional" drivers will launch the car much harder than any joe schmoe you run into on the street. Why? Because the "professional" drivers don't usually own the car (it get's lent to magazines by the car companies), so they don't care if it gets broken. Nearly every review I've read of a WRX says that they revved the car up to 5k-6k rpm just to get the tires to spin (too much traction will bog the engine), yet very few people I know are willing to risk their drivetrain just to be able to launch the car. AWD has a lot of advantages, especially in winter driving. But it's main disadvantage is weight, and that means that an AWD car just won't be able to compete with a properly set up 2WD car.
  17. Mythbusters on Discovery is doing a segment on what does and doesn't work for disguising your car from radar and laser. I might actually watch this episode!
  18. Opening next year at a six flags park. But it is just a rip-off of the dragster.

    fwd vs awd

Actually, we have had this debate at work many times. I was always on the side of: AWD is much harder to launch, especially if there is not enough power to spin all 4 wheels (like in a stock WRX). Well, last spring, Automobile magazine did an AWD vs 2WD face-off, where they compared an AWD G35 vs a RWD G35 and an AWD A4 vs a FWD A4. The 2WD versions out-handled and out-accelerated the AWD versions in every aspect, including wet pavement tests! Granted, these tests were performed by professional drivers, but it just goes to show that AWD needs more power to overcome the weight to become a real benefit.
  20. That one seems to work. It's the fourth one I've tried. I'll have to purchase a license to actually recover the data (I can only see the files now), althought it is $67! I guess you pay for what you get. Good find, though, thanks.
  21. Yeah. Windows usually goes on the "primary" hard disk. I formatted my "secondary" hard disk, which had all my mp3s, games, and pictures from the last 4 years of my life (which I'm most upset about!). When I originally built the computer, I had a Raid on the two hard drives, but I decided to scrap that idea after one of the hard drives failed. Let me know what you would recommend. I have found a couple of programs online, but none of them have worked so far. I need a program that will recover data after a reformat. All of the ones I have found just recover data that is lost through Windows (empty the recycle bin, lost file, etc...) Thanks for your help.
  22. I understand that. But I did a quick format of my hard drive, and then installed Windows. The stuff that Windows wrote over is probably gone, but the rest of the stuff that was on the drive should still be there, since a quick format doesn't actually delete data, it just tells the computer that the data clusters are available to be written over. I have heard of services where you ship your hard drive out, and they will recover the data for you, but I was wondering if there was any way that I could do it myself.
  23. Does anybody know of any (preferrably free) data recovery programs for a PC? Most of the ones that I've seen so far, like Norton Ghost, require you to image your hard drive before you lose data. Which doesn't really help me now. I accidentally formatted and installed Windows on the wrong partition and wrote over a bunch of important stuff, so I want to get it back. I know there are data recovery places that I can send my drive to, but I would just as much try and do it myself. Thanks.
  24. I kinda like Short North Tavern. True, they are not a "micro-brew," but they have a live band on Friday and Saturday nights, and free darts. The crowd is a little older, though, so not as much eye candy
  25. Oh man, not this car again! It's previous owner's girlfriend lives in my complex. It really is in bad shape and needs a lot of work done to it, unless it does have a new motor and turbos like the ad said. Mike said he had seen it and the dumbass put 18x7 wheels on it. 16x8 is stock, WTF?
