    Sound is pretty poor, with the non-waterproof back installed it improves slightly. I shopped around a bit and got my kit for $230 shipped. I've seen them as low as $215.

    Have one, love it. I bought the motorsports kit which came with suction cup mount and a bunch of stick-on mounts. Takes a minute to get used to the lack of monitor for setup and the two button interface. My commute to/from work:

    Polishing a textured surface will mar the finish and make the problem more obvious. Could price the part through the dealer, you may be pleasantly surprised.

    What sort of finish? If it's textured or semi-matte I would leave it alone, a gloss finish you might be able to work with.

    Early 2000's ford e150 with 5.4 gas engine. Yes you'll spend more on gas but you're going to spend a lot less on the vehicle. Van = lockable storage space, option to haul more people and awesome creepy factor.

    Most modern cars do not have an actual temp gauge, it's a glorified idiot light controlled by an ecu. I would start with the thermostat.

    I copy my frequently played games to the drive, makes for quieter game play without the dvd drive humming constantly.
