  1. Just walking around is pretty cool. The zoo sucks don't go there. As mentioned above the Canal walk is decent. Circle Center Mall doesn't do it for me, but I don't like malls either. The speedway museum is worth a short trip if she is up for it. The Indiana War Memorial Museum is pretty good for free. If you don't have a lot of time its worth going just for the shrine room. Can look up pics online if you want. St. Elmo's steak house if you want to drop some coin. Fogo de Chao if you want to drop some coin (my preference). I personally really enjoy the BBQ at Smokehouse in Fountain Square. http://www.fountainsquareindy.com/ Fountain square also has duck pin bowling which is something different to do if you are into that. Also, Rathskellar is worth checking out for food and beer. 'Mass Ave' (Massachusets Avenue) has a ton of bars and restaurants and where everyone goes. You can actually climb up into the Soldiers and Sailors monument in the circle. I've not done this but they are open Fri.-Sun., 10:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
  2. I rented that lens for a wedding shoot. Really enjoyed it. Probably will be my next lens purchase. Trying to decide between a 70-200 F2.8 or if I go with the new Sigma 150-600mm (for dat wildlife).
  3. I had a sigma lens I really liked (10-20mm) and the only reason i sold it was to get the tokina 11-20 because it went wider (f2.8) i'd buy another Sigma lens, i had no complaints.
  4. We will see, thanks for the kind words (everyone) Funny story behind this shot. This is the 'Mesa Arch' in canyonlands NP. The iconic shot is getting the sunrise through the arch. Because well just awesome: shooting from a plateau, through an arch, getting the sunrise, snow capped mountains in the back, canyon, all in on shot. Even though its a bit played out I still wanted to get it. I got there about 45 min before sunrise and there were about 7 other photographers already set up in the prime spot. Fak. So I set up on the very end, and the view was terrible. So I started moving around, looking for a different angle. I actually ended up laying down just outside of the frame of everyone else. My head/camera hanging off the edge, ditched the tripod completely. People thought I was nuts. By the time I got up there were 4 dudes around me trying to get the same shot. Luckily I had my wide lens and could still get some sky above the arch. The first picture of the watchman is an iconic view at zion. We actually went at sunset, and there were so many photographers it was ridiculous. It was a huge turn off. I knew months ahead of time that it would be a good milky way shot, so I came back to get it later, not another soul even drove by in the 2 hrs I was there.
  5. So the wife and I have been wanting to go to Utah for a long time. We got the chance to go and hit up Arches NP, Canyonlands NP, Bryce Canyon NP, and Zion NP. Incredible parks. And of course I timed it with the MW viewing window since its so dark out there and just gambled with the weather. It was really awesome. Weather skunked me many nights but I just worked around the clouds. The best shot, IMO was on the last night. There was a chance for a clear night and I was able to get one shot, just as the MW core came up over The Watchman in Zion and the clouds were rolling in. Of course feel free to check out the link in my sig with more utah pics. Daytime stuff included as well. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/DSC_0593%20The%20Watchman%20Milky%20Way%20-%20edited%20-%20web.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Paria%20View%20MW%20final%20-%20web.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/DSC_0205%20Mesa%20Arch%20Sunrise%20-%20web.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/DSC_0139%20Park%20Avenue%20MW%20%20-%20web.jpg
  6. As stated 30s is a rule of thumb. BUT there are a lot of variants. Your ISO capability, lens aperture and even more so your focal length. If you are zoomed in even up to just 70mm, you only have 5 seconds before you start seeing star motion. I think that was a plane, not sure! Thanks for the comments, glad you guys appreciate them.
  7. Some more recent shots.... http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Tulip%20Trestle%20Panorama%20-%20web.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/DSC_2465%20BCSP%20Firetower%20-%20web.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/DSC_2484%20Strahl%20Lake%20Reflection%20-%20web.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/DSC_2609%20web.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/DSC_2619%20web.jpg
  8. Good deal man, glad to see you are willing to make the leap. Life is full of opportunities people don't take!
  9. False alarm, I was thinking Robert Smith. Pretty sure that's Pikey's Brother.
  10. RIP. Does anyone know if Scott (Black Supra) still is on the forum? (Will's Brother).
  11. When was the timing belt done? I ask this because I have to do it on my Wife's 04 civic, for the second time.
  12. Its 30seconds @ 1600 ISO (with an F2.8 lens). Basically 30 seconds (at the focal length I'm at) is the limit for when you start to blur the stars, due to their movement. I had to do a fair amount of surface blurring to get rid of some of the graininess, but i think next time I will try a shot at 400 ISO for the foreground (@ several minute exposure), and melt them together.

  14. Hey guys, been trying out a new thing that I've wanted to do, this winter really got into doing research on how to do it. Learnin' myself. March is really the first time the Milky Way core is visible for the year, combined with 3 days in a row of great weather. The results, other than sleep depreivation (wake up at 4am, then go to real work), are posted below. Some shots are not milky way shots, those were some of my scouting shots. Absolutely thrilled with the results. The shot with the cabin and the lookout tower are being submitted for an Indiana DNR photo contest. Really hope I can win it! But I'm being very optimistic. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Misc%20Photography/DSC_1654_Story%20Gazebo%20Final%20-%20web.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Misc%20Photography/DSC_1649%20Schooner%20Creek%20Bridge%202%20edited%20-%20web.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Misc%20Photography/DSC_1640_edited-1%20Schooner%20Creek%20Bridge%20Final%20-%20web.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Misc%20Photography/DSC_1608_edited-1%20Galactic%20Chimney%20-%20web.jpg
  15. Love the texture of the cracked paint. I wonder what the color version looks like, but I feel like it may take away from the texture. Cool shot.
  16. I can vouch for credit Karma, good way to keep up on your credit score.
  17. Having a score of over 800 anything you do could raise it or in some weird way may end up lowering it. Whats the point?
  18. The entry level nikon is a great option. 95% of the pictures on my website (linked in sig) were with a D3100. I love my wide lens (going to spend $400-500 on a new lens, or can buy used). I love my 35mm prime lens ($200 new? or way cheaper used). The kit lenses are decent, specially for starting out. There are plenty of camera bodies with barely any use. Might almost be worth buying it cheaper and putting money into lenses.
  19. Thanks for the kind words! over 90% of these pictures were from my D3100, before upgrading! This particular site, i'm paying $30 for a yr. You basically set your own margins, how much you want to make for a print or whatever. So the price is whatever it costs them to make the items ordered, plus your margin. If I can break even I guess i'll keep the site. Its tough to market this stuff. I don't want to be that guy, that his wife sells junk jewlery at 'parties' and every friggin' holiday says "hey man want to buy some of my wife's jewlery, make you a discount". Rant off though. At this point my only marketing is when i post my pictures on FB I will post a link to my site with the option to purchase should anyone want it. However, i'm limiting my market to my friends and family. The site's search engine is pretty good, and I've been diligent about my tags, wonder how many people actually purchase on there?
  20. I probably am friends with most of you outside of here, on 'the facebook' but I know there are other photogs here. Which websites are you using to sell work? And why? I took the plunge and decided i'd try to see if I can sell some of my images. http://norberto-nunes.pixels.com/
  21. the IRS version? explorer or the cobra aluminum? I'm potentially interested as well.
  22. Sticks FTW. 5 Acres and $900 a yr in taxes.
