Can we get a "PDQS4 ban or nah" poll going?

I think I am considered OG, amrite? I don't even live in Ohio and I still frequent the board. I will say that it is somewhat challenging to keep the discussion current on cars and racing. Think about it. If you have an issue with your car your are more than likely going to get a better, car specific answer, on a car specific board. This board in the past was a place to plan gatherings, stay in contact with each other outside of the racing scene. Now folks are older and the racing events are more 'organized' and of the legal variety. Which again makes sense we are older, wiser, and have much more to lose. As someone stated that 'scene' that made this forum is dwindling, everywhere. Unfortunately bringing in younger (or any NEW) folks usually comes with its share of the undesired. But lets be real, even when we hung out at car spots, how much of the talk was actually care related? Once you go to know everyone's car, what it was capable of. You may talk about your plans going forward but it came down to just hanging out talking about the same stuff you see posted on the threads. I like this forum for what it is. A way to stay connected with car enthusiasts and old friends. Also as someone stated is a great way to get feedback on local services, not limited to cars alone. We work too hard to spend money on crappy services but more importantly any money we save means car parts. So I would say that is a common driver for everyone on this board! I've met some of my best bro's hanging out on this site. I know its been the same for many of you all.

Oh and I really dislike short bed regular cab trucks. They remind me of when I go to do a habitat for humanity volunteer event for work, and there is always the guy that shows up in khakis and yells "I'm ready to WORK!" as he puts on jersey work gloves provided to him. And leaves after 2 hours after having nailed down 2 pieces of trim.

I really expected to come in here and see a .gif of the fumble at the endzone from last night's game.

Would have lol'd if he got a no-wake zone ticket.

Well I went to the IU game and was probably on TV at some point. Woohoo I Was standing behind the goal post on the first FG by IU. It was a cold, dready, windy, crappy day. I had been to OSU vs IU games before and man it really seems like this fan base is extremely excited about first downs and penalties. Like ridiculous, like they just won a national title at every first down. It was pretty stupid. Maybe just he people around me. We definitely got lucky. The IU squad is not that good, their play calling and o-line were not so hot, among other things. I'll agree with Jive when he says it feels like we are last years FSU's team, I hope I get proven wrong but I'm really worried we're going to get lit up one of these Saturdays coming up. Both Mich teams are worrisome. I don't think we should be ranked #1. #3 or #4 at best.

Ride the ATV, Do outdoor cleanup on the property. Seriously got trees to drop and brush to clean. Winter I don't have to worry about gettig hot, snakes, ticks, or poison ivy.

Yeah I don't know if I would call this an environmental win. If there is oil there, they will eventually lose the battle. I thought I understood that the folks in the middle east were increasing production to drive down he cost of oil. The purpose was to discourage oil exploration, which was justified by the high oil costs. At this point it looks like they got what they wanted, but as stated above they'll be back once the costs are justified.

Anyone going to the IU vs OSU game this weekend? I'm lol'ing at the prices on craigslist. Will probably just scalp the day of for $10.

glad to hear the R&D and presidential hangers are open. A few years ago with the federal budget crap they cut that out.

WHAT? I went out on my ATV, set the DVR. The game is blacked out here.

Looks like the diagnostic mode is turned on when the front wheels are turning but the rears are not. aka on a dyno.

"The affected cars include VW Jettas, Beetles, Golfs and Audi A3s with diesel engines from the 2009 to 2015 model years, along with diesel VW Passats from 2014-2015." 2010 falls right after 2009, FYI.

Urea/DEF became part of the industry for the 2010 product, FYI. (for HD trucks) I know CARB requirements are usually very tight, tighter than EPA. I wouldn't be surprised. This is very interesting indeed. I don't think it will put a nail in the coffin for diesels in cars, in fact it may open up the market. If this venture shows that VW can only meet the emissions regulations with DEF injection, then there are likely many other manufacturers that may be able to get in the market because it is no longer a competitive advantage. If the cars pass cert in 'dyno' mode, there may just be a software change needed in the computer to fix it so the car runs in dyno mode. Not knowing what the differences are. Which brings me to another point. Navistar was one of the only (the only?) engine manufacturer in diesel trucks that maintained their status of 'no DEF' needed for 2010 emissions. Well that didn't go so well and their reliability tanked, and they are now on the DEF injection boat. I wonder if running in dyno mode on these VW's will pose reliability concerns to the engine/system.

Save it for OSU rioting.

I'm a HUGE OSU fan, obviously. But I am a realist. We did not look good, to be honest at this point MSU should be ahead of OSU. The game vs NIU was nothing to brag about, just got lucky. A bit ridiculous Ole Miss is up to #3. I mean standford beat USC, shouldn't they be #6 now? And yes pre-season rankings are hog wash....UNLESS you are in top 4. If you can convince the voters you are top 4, the playoff is yours to lose. Also I hate how early losses don't weigh nearly as much as losses later in the season.

We should not have won today. Got a lot of work to do.

WWCRD? Transporting a motorcycle from CT to OH
Berto replied to El Karacho1647545492's topic in Passing Lane
I have a buddy going to the NE for a motorcycle race here very soon, he may have room on his trailer. He's driving back through Cbus. Let me know if you want me to ask him. -
I have mine through Cincinnati Insurance. The RX7 has an appraised value. Its like $100 a year.

Devils advocate. Since the only 2 teams to beat msu last ur were ohio state and oregon, which played for the title......should msu be number 2 this week? .

Not so simple. The calculations that have been used aren't just what you spent but how much you make on investments. Say I own the car 15 yrs, payments stopped after 3. So thats 12 years of monthly payments I could invest with minimal maintenance. The key there being that since the car was well maintained an not bused that the costly repairs would be non-existent.

Will send links to your accountant on retainer.

I would have to sit down and do the math but, at some point there has to be a benefit to buying a new car. For example my civic is in almost mint condition, 10yrs old, Paid $18500 for it new. I've been without a payment for 7 years, plan to have it another 5 to 10 yrs. Its been treated well and the only thing I did to it was brakes and a battery (wear items).

I was really glad to see Braxton do well, as a buckeye. He had an unfortunate injury and as most people thought the combination of being a great athlete as well as excellent coaching staff he was able to make the switch to a different position.
