rims that large (and heavy) will probably hurt performance. get something lighter. 18s are plenty big. 17s are relatively inexpensive and they clear most brakes... http://www.mr2ownersclub.com/images/smilies/twocents.gif

  6. don't bother with shorties. they aren't much cheaper than long tubes, and they're still a big pain to install. i've got a set of shorties on my car. not worth the trouble if you ask me, even though they were free. mine look like they were stick welded together... a few people on here have long tubes, i'm sure they'll chime in with details... if you decide against long tubes, just bolt in a good x pipe and be done with it. my 2 cents... smile.gif
  7. the ECU is tucked behind the passenger side dash pad if i remember correctly. there's quite a bit of wiring in there for the dash electronics. a service manual will have some wiring diagrams...
  8. how old are you two again..? tongue.gif
  9. don't they use a mitsu 420A (n/a DSM) motor in the tiburon?
  10. that wouldn't surprise me with an LS1 or LT1. old school small blocks aren't as tolerant... it would help if we had more info on the motor in question... smile.gif
  11. depends on the head(s), cam(s), and a million other things. the 11:1 motor in my corvette ran fine on pump gas...
  12. could be a faulty wheel speed sensor/wiring... a blown fuse can trigger your ABS light as well...
  13. i hear getrag makes a good 6 speed...
  14. your PM box is full... tongue.gif
  15. the TT comes with A LOT of goodies, including upgraded brakes a very strong 6 speed. the n/a drivetrain will not hold as much power as the TT drivetrain. the 10.5:1 compression on the n/a engine will also limit your boost. if you're after BIG power, just buy the TT... btw, the TT's turbo manifolds and fuel system (minus the pump) will not work with the n/a engine. you'll have to buy a turbo kit or piece something together yourself... the TT is really a deal when you consider how strong the factory parts are. you're paying up front for bulletproof parts. if you just really like the supra, and you're not that concerned with power, buy an n/a and enjoy it. my two cents... smile.gif [ 11. 16. it's not worth it... the lexus SC300 would be a cheaper alternative. it has the same drivetrain as the n/a supra... mark will probably chime in here soon. i've discussed this with him already...
  17. no worries there. they're already corroded and stained somewhat. these are off my old corvette btw. i'm rebuilding the calipers. the pistons, seals, and hardware have already been removed. i've got a whole pile of suspension parts to clean and prep next, so i may go ahead and pick up a sand blaster... i was considering having them powdercoated instead of painting them again. will that work for a set of calipers? thanks again! smile.gif
  18. what would be the best way to strip high temp paint off a set of brake calipers? the calipers are aluminum... TIA! smile.gif
  19. thanks captain obvious... tongue.gif
  20. i was referring to some of the ceramic coatings they offer for piston crowns and cylinder heads. most of them are simply sprayed or brushed on, then cooked in an oven at a few hundred degrees to cure. nothing too fancy or difficult. some of the ceramic coatings i've seen will air dry properly...
  21. you can buy the materials and do it yourself if you want to save some money...
