Austin is right, the bargain bin rifles are virtually blemish free. i browse ar15.com a lot and i haven't heard anything negative about them. i think i paid about 850 for my bushmaster a couple years ago. i kind of wish i would have built my first one, but i didn't know a lot about them at the time. if i had to do it all over again, i would have definitely took my time and went the other route. tons of time spent reading and trial and error...i probably have $1500 between my rifle and 24 magazines and some off the wall sightron scope i bought.

i have an hk usp custom combat compact in 40 caliber. it has a tan frame and black decal insert grips. it also has trijicon night sights. i bought the gun in july or august and mainly used it for carry. it has less than 400 rounds through it. the gun will also come with an IWB comp tac holster for ccw. it'll also come with three 12 round magazines, and one ten rounder. i have put a lot in this gun between the extra mags and holster. pics available upon request.. asking price 580 obo next up is a USP 9mm full size. it has true dot night sights and 2 15 round magazines. i've put 500 rounds through the gun in about a month's time. gun is excellent condition and has barely been broken in. pics available upon request. asking price 550 obo.

i worked for the state for a while. the benefits are good, and defered comp is your best friend. some of the old timers at the prison would work 32+ ot a period and put all of it into defered comp. i think the max you can put in is 13k a year. it's not uncommon for people to have 10k waiting on them after a few years, plus the amount they've already paid into pers.

do you practice drawing your weapon? do you practice drawing your weapon with an Assailant coming at you with a knife and or weapon? The reason i ask is becuase when SHTF your fine motor skills go out the window, and things that are otherwise seemingly easy are not anymore. A male in average shape can close 30' by the time most cops have their weapon out. Hence the 30' rule. While this mostly applies to LE and others sworn to uphold the law, it's something to consider for training purposes.

whenever i go, i try to pick up as much brass as i could, even if i dont have the caliber, in hopes of one day being able to afford a reloading kit and have a stock pile laying around.

for 6 years memberships were only 100 bucks for the basic package. they went up recently when they combined all three memberships into one package. (ie 200 bucks) previously, only silver and platinum members were allowed to shoot reloads and ammo they purchased elsewhere, now for 200 you can shoot whatever you want. last year i used to shoot once a week but spending 50 bucks a pop got old quickly. my membership was paid for quickly to say the least. it will take a while to for me to pay off this years membership since my play money has been cut in half considerably.

my nano went through the washer AND dryer too. i was convinced it was dead. i actually bought a 30 gig and used it for a while. well, i was curious if it would work because it had set for a month or so... and to my surprise, the damn thing turned on. i ended up selling the 30. i use the nano when i run; nike+ipod != pwnage.

i tried the fusion for a while, but i found i always knicked my face while shaving. my skin was always irritated. i switched back to the m3 and it's much better now.

the best advice i can give you is to rent as many guns as you can. i wouldn't go with a glock just because 9249365819053675462968 people own them. you may shoot a SW M&P better than a glock, or vice versa. i have an h&k usp tactical that feels like sex to me. granted, i paid a good dime for me, but i shoot it better than a glock. the grip angle of a glock feels funny to me, and i could never adjust to them. to add what scott said, there are a million different guns out there. a general rule is you get what you pay for, just like everything else in life.

I never got an "official" break when i worked in the penetentiary, even if i had to pull a 16, (which was 2-3 times a week on avg) i never got a break between first and second 8 hour shift.
