  1. I don't think that is entirely accurate because the GTO and the Trans Am didn't share showroom space. Maybe more like Legacy is to Taurus SHO, as WRX is to SVT Contour. Same basic performance minded customer base with different everyday needs.

  3. WTF is an African Cichlid?
  4. Ha-Ha! I guess you're right. I wasn't even considering trying to push the limits of a car on that road, though. As a matter of fact, I don't think there are a whole lot of cars that I would even consider trying to push the limits in, on that road. Where is that BTW? Seems like I remember seeing that road in a movie before...
  5. See, that's the thing, though. The WRX wasn't filling the midsize performance car category for Subaru. That's why the market for the Legacy GT. Call it a stepping stone if you will. The Legacy GT would be a likely step for a current Subie owner who has just had a child (or a second), and needs more room. If said current Subie owner has been really satisfied with his WRX, it would seem logical that the Subaru dealer would be the first place he would go to begin shopping for a replacement vehicle. If you wanted a bigger car, and liked everything about your WRX except the limited space in the back seat, wouldn't you strongly consider a performance variant of the next size larger vehicle line. It's all about customer acquisition and retention. Try to make it so that you have a vehicle in each price range/demographic/class so that you can attempt to appeal to all different parties. The ideal would be to sell that twenty something college grad his first new car, as well as each subsequent vehicle purchase up to his last.
  6. '95 was the first year for the Con-tique. Is it the SE comparable model with alum. rims? Manual or auto? My wife has a '95 SE V6 and it has been an outstanding car. My only gripe is with the auto trans. Feels like it absolutely chokes all the performance out of the car.
  7. I've been pretty pleased with my Caddy. It is a v-8, and doesn't get quite the milage that I'd like, but parts are relatively inexpensive, it is front wheel drive, looks pretty classy, has leather interior (a first for me, but with 2 kids in car seats, I feel it is a must now), and lots of power stuff. I'm kind of anal about the car seats in the back myself, but I just put towels down on the bottom cushion before the seats go in. The other thing about my car is that for the options and everything, they're very inexpensive to purchase. I've owned mine for over a year, have about a grand in misc. repair and maintenance costs, and am still far from your 5k price cap. 5-10 year old GM luxury cars are pretty good as cheap, relatively easy to maintain, family cars. BTW, I'm not selling mine because I'm not happy with it, I just want another "fun" car.
  8. The Legacy GT is the Performance variant of the Legacy Line up. It was not intended for the WRX customer so much as it was the WRX customer that has different needs. The GT is bigger, in the same way that the Legacy is bigger than the Impreza. Why shouldn't Subaru bring a performance model to each line of vehicles they sell? I personally think that the '05 Legacy GT is a very handsome car, and don't believe that anyone should have to sacrifice their comfort because they want a fun car. Believe it or not, there are some people that just flat don't like the styling of the WRX. Why did so many people buy GTP's when they could have bought a Formula? If Pontiac hadn't offered the GTP, maybe we'd still have the F-Bodies around. Why buy an Escalade, when for less money, you could buy a Tahoe with almost all of the same options? I dunno, maybe they want to. graemlins/gives.gif
  9. graemlins/thumb.gif I will always have a can of that stuff in my garage. Haven't found anything that can compare.
  10. Bump - I found a car that I want, and this Luxo cruiser needs to go! The title is notarized and waiting for a buyer. BTW, she does GREAT in the snow!
  11. The "snap head screws" are replacements for the existing screws underneath. You remove the existing screws, and replace them with these "snap head screws" that should have come with the bra. The snap head screws are screws that have the "male" side of a snap on the top. The "female" side is attached to the bra itself. When the bra is installed, you pull it so that the snaps can come together. The snap head screws help to locate it in the proper place. Unfortunately, I had to get some of them for a customer for his Lexus, and Lexus doesn't sell them separately. The dealer had to order a complete bra, and return it without the screws citing an incomplete unit, just so that I could supply my customer with the hardware needed to do the install. You should talk to your friend, and see if the snap head screws are still on his car.
  12. Phone is in the pants? Call the phone and listen for the ring. Keep calling until you find it, and you should find the pants too. graemlins/trout.gif
