Because you don't have to purchase plates for a car you own and insure. If you have valid plates, you are required to have state min. coverage for the car. If you don't want coverage, drop the tags.

Correct. If the car has valid tags, it MUST have insurance because you can drive it at anytime. That is the law and how it works. My brother sells insurance and I've looked into this myself. Good luck!

Yup - could have, but happy to pay for the app since I really like it. Came in handy on vacation with the family and at home when working from home and my internet connection was having issues.

For my original motorola droid, I purchased an app called PDANet. It is software on the PC and an app on the phone. Uses the phone as a proxy to send the internet traffic out. No monthly fee from VZW and they don't know I'm not browsing from the phone. Worth the $20 bucks for the app. (The only app I've ever purchsed) Works good enough for surfing and VPN connection to work. No issues with speed - sometimes, drop connection... Happens, but not a big deal to me. Good luck.

But any trailer with a GWVR (or whatever it is...) over 10k is required to have commercial tags. I had my enclosed race trailer with a GWVR of 12k and was forced to purchase commercial tags for it - even towing it with a non-comm. truck. (Since it was just for my hobby of racing) No option - forced to pay for the commercial tags.

I was at Mid-Ohio this past weekend for the OVR / SCCA Double Regional race. Sat. went fine - 3rd in class. Sunday was a qualifying race - I ended up (my own fault) in the gravel trap at the keyhole on the first lap. So for the afternoon race, I started 41st overall. I've used http://colletti-motorsports.org/ for work on my SCCA ITA Civic. They did a great job tuning my car (Hondata s300). Good gains and they did exactly what I was looking for. Great prices and great folks. Steve (owner) is a very nice guy and is a fellow racer. I'd recommend their shop and work to anyone. I'm not sure you can find a track day at Mid-Ohio for less... If you do, I'd question the amount of cars that will be out there and take a close look at the event insurance offered... Maybe next time!
