You nailed it with the Dan Wessons. I have a Valor and it's phenomenal. I am also a big fan of Springfields. I don't have a problem with Kimber, but as stated before, I feel they put too much effort into the looks of the gun than they do the function. Their advertising seems to target those who don't know much about 1911s, just that they want one. They put a lot of flare on the things, jack the price up, and sell tons of them.

You get what you pay for when it comes to spotting scopes, and unfortunately, a 'useful' spotting scope is generally $$$. That said, I have heard great things about Vortex as an entry level 'good' scope. What exactly are you trying to see? If you're looking for bullet holes in paper at distance, you'll need something fairly decent and clear.

I noticed that as well. I also liked how the temperature went from like -90*f midway to about 20*f at Float. I was not expecting that. How cold is low orbit?
