Is Auburn right with Alabama right now? Well, I would think so, since Auburn controls it's own destiny: if it wins out and beats Alabama, then it will represent the SEC west and have a chance of winning the conference. What he meant by Ohio State being right there with Alabama if they played in SEC is that Ohio State would likely be like Auburn or Missouri at this point: controlling their destiny to win the SEC. There's really no way you can reasonably disagree with this statement. That's not fantasy; it's logical.

Is this a joke? In the last two games, Ohio State has put historic beatdowns on its opponents. I'm not sure how you define "barely outpacing," but I think it's safe to assume you might be erring on the conservative end of things here. Also, since you invoked the ugly wins of 2002, I think it's worth mentioning that we won the national championship that year and beat a team that had arguably the greatest ensemble of college talent in the history of the sport. So, even if I agreed with you that the wins have been ugly (and they haven't, so I don't), I'd still take it. Are you sure you aren't watching DVR'ed games from last season?

A couple of thoughts: 1. FSU isn't that far ahead of us in coaches poll, right? I mean, there looks to be at least some possibility that we could catch them if they play sloppy and we play lights out. 2. Hey look, 947 SEC teams in Top 10. Auburn is a joke. They beat a Tennessee team who's current claim to fame is ALMOST beating Georgia. Think about that. 3. Thanks to the coaches for moving Michigan State up a few spots. Now, you've only got them ranked about 6 to 8 slots too low. I'd take Michigan State against Auburn and Missouri right now. It would be a toss up for me pitting Michigan State against A&M.

VT smoked Miami last night. This confirms for me that Miami was never really all that good. It also gives me hope of VT knocking off FSU in ACC title game, which is still a possibility, right?

Yeesh, Bama throttled LSU in the second half. The homer in me wants to see Ohio State in NCG. The football fan in me thinks a Bama-FSU match would be epic. Both of those teams' defenses are really playing well. You scheme/match-up guys, how would Ohio State stack up against Bama or FSU?

I'm not sure if you guys remember this or not, but there was a guy at ESPN that was even worse than May when it came to the anti-Ohio State sentiment: Trev Alberts. I can remember the weeks leading up to the NCG between Ohio State and Miami and him saying all kinds of bullshit about Oho State, like how they were going to get throttled, were too slow, etc. At that time, Mark May was there, and he was kind of anti-Ohio State too (or, maybe I should say, very pro-Miami), so I think he has always kind of disliked Ohio State. However, once Alberts got canned, May stepped in to the play the "heel."

Didn't consider that angle - about them playing faster because they just worry about their job. That makes sense to me - and makes me feel more optimistic about things.

Ohio State needs to get faster on the defensive side of the ball. I like the way they are playing, but they still need to get faster. Anyone watch Florida State's defense manhandle Miami on Saturday night? That's a fast fucking defense right there.
