  1. People shouldn't be allowed to drive until the age of 25. Same goes for getting married.
  2. Yeah, there's a vid that comes to mind that has pre-mod and after-mod races with a 997 Porsche (turbo, I think) and a C6 Z06. The Porsche torches the Z06 after it gets its mods (and the Z06 is still stock), and then the Z06 absolutely annhilates the Porsche after getting its mods. Will try to find that vid... Edit: Not the vid I was looking for, but features modded 997 Turbo versus modded C6Z: http://www.streetfire.net/video/porsche-911-turbo-evotech-vs-chevrolet-corvette-z06_2317842.htm Edit x 2: another vid, not the one I'm looking for, but still this Z06 moves out. And I can appreciate a guy who sprays the hell out of his Z06...
  3. Fuck that, crossing Ferrari off the list. Gorgeous car, not worth all that shit though.
  4. This is what I've heard too...
  5. Thanks for this input. I think, based on what I've heard people say, that I'd prefer the driving style of the Corvette over the Porsche.
  6. Wait a minute, talk to me more about these cars - specs? Driving comparisons to the Porsche?
  7. Could this be worse than even Rebecca Black's Friday? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOrD5kqyov0
  8. Yeah, you can daily drive a Porsche. However, I'd be kidding myself if I said I would drive a 997 Turbo daily year-round (i.e., in our shitty winters). Of course, it would be a wonderful way to get to work the other seven or so months out of the year. And, for the price of the Porsche, it should be daily drivable.
  9. P.S. Thanks for all the suggestions, but really this thread wasn't intended to be a suggestion thread. (Though one of those might be coming.) Rather, I just wanted opinions on what all of you thought about how much more expensive the Porsche is in comparison to the Corvette and how that could be. Seems like, with the Porsche, you're buying exclusivity, a gorgeous car, and an engineering/driving marvel. However, to me, minus the exclusivity, the Z06 is pretty much even with the Porsche. The Z06 is aesthetically pleasing and is every bit the performer. So, for me, I don't think I'd pay an extra $40K for exclusivity. Also, Josh, I'm with you - so far I haven't come across I absolutely have to have. I guess that's a great reason to just keep looking.
  10. For whatever car I buy (regardless if it's one these two or something else), it's going to stay stock for a really long time (and probably indefinitely). It will be a weekend car, so no DD. It won't see much of a track. Also, Josh, thanks for posting up the stuff about the M5 and other stuff. The M5 I would consider buying for a DD.
  11. Yeah, not really planning on being at Mid-Ohio much (if at all), and I'm not in love with Porsche, so the badge doesn't do all that much for me. Who said I narrowed anything down to just two choices? I was just comparing two cars that are of interest to me and wanted to understand how the Porsche could be priced so much higher than the C6Z. Baller. Stella > * Definitely plan on driving a 997. I wonder though, at this point, if I haven't established impossible expectations for the Porsche? I'd like to think I haven't, but I'm afraid I might have. When is the C7 set to come out? Links? Pics? Vids? Vids of you benching...?
  12. This is the worst Ohio State team I have ever seen.
  13. Have thought about the AMG's, but then I get all confused, not knowing which version is better than the others - CLR SLR C63 AMGRYLIUASGDLIUWQGDALBDLQGD;AQ
  14. Here - fucking sex on wheels :megusta: (and making me rethink what I just said to Andy), but $100K??? :dumb: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=306368690&dealer_id=100012842&car_year=2008&model=CORV&pager.offset=50&search_lang=en&start_year=2006&search_type=both&distance=300&rdm=1317480478795&marketZipError=false&advanced=y&sownerid=1146859&lastBeginningStartYear=1981&end_year=2009&showZipError=n&make2=POR&dma=COLUMBUS_OH_WE&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&body_code=0&first_record=51&isFlashPlugin=true&default_sort=distance&color=WHITE&address=43201&sort_type=distance&model2=911TURBO&color2=BLACK&make=CHEV&seller_type=b&num_records=25&cardist=291&standard=false
  15. Yeah, I found my (very stock) C5 Z06 to be way better in pretty much every way in comparison to that 996 Turbo that I drove. I was shocked at how little the 996 did for me. I've kept telling myself I drove a dog of 996, that something wasn't right with it, etc. just because I didn't want to believe that I disliked it that much. Just one test drive, but still...
  16. I could see Nebraska beating Wisconsin. All week they've heard about how unstoppable Wisconsin is and how they're going to get smoked. Wisconsin choked the last time they played a big game in which they were the heavy favorite (TCU). Nebraska's defense hasn't been exactly stellar this year, but still the components are there that can contain Wisconsin. Upset special: Nebraska 30, Wisconsin 24.
  17. No, don't care just about outright speed. However, what am I missing about the Porsche? I'm not seeing anything that would justify it being about $40K more. Granted, I haven't driven either the 997 Turbo or the C6Z, but I find it hard to believe I would "feel" that much of a difference between two if I drove both. I drove a 996 Turbo and, I have to say, I was thoroughly unimpressed, which was kind of shocking. And, I hear you on the new GT-R, but it's just not for me. I might say the Porsche is sexier, though I wouldn't say infinitely, at least not in my opinion. I definitely wouldn't say it's $38K sexier, that's for sure. So, no brainer then if I'm just wanting one or the other? Go with the Corvette?
  18. A while back, I got opinions on a C6Z versus a GT-R. After doing some research, I decided the GT-R just wasn't for me. Awesome car, just not what I think I'm into. The C6Z is still definitely on my list, but now so is the 997 Turbo. However, the 997 Turbo is significantly more expensive than the C6Z. For instance, consider these two cars, which are the same in terms of year and about the same in mileage: Here's the C6Z, priced at $44K: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=307520619&dealer_id=613438&car_year=2007&systime=&doors=&model=CORV&search_lang=en&start_year=2006&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&search_type=both&distance=300&min_price=&rdm=1317480478795&drive=&marketZipError=false&advanced=y&fuel=&keywords_display=&sownerid=1146859&lastBeginningStartYear=1981&end_year=2009&make3=&showZipError=n&color3=&make2=POR&certified=&engine=&dma=COLUMBUS_OH_WE&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&body_code=0&isFlashPlugin=true&transmission=&default_sort=distance&max_mileage=&color=WHITE&address=43201&sort_type=distance&model2=911TURBO&max_price=&color2=BLACK&make=CHEV&seller_type=b&num_records=25&cardist=177&standard=false&rdpage=thumb And here's the Porsche, priced at $82K: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=307058330&dealer_id=55433242&car_year=2007&doors=&systime=&listingCounter=0&adModel=CORV&search_lang=en&start_year=2006&highlightFirstMakeModel=&rdm=1317480478795&drive=&marketZipError=false&advanced=y&keywords_display=&sownerid=1146859&lastBeginningStartYear=1981&make3=&make2=POR&certified=&engine=&adBodyStyle=&dma=COLUMBUS_OH_WE&isFlashPlugin=true&transmission=&useBIRF=true&sort_type=distance&adClassSeries=&max_price=&make=CHEV&useImpressions=true&model=CORV&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&search_type=both&distance=300&min_price=&fuel=&listingPriority=30&flip=a&end_year=2009&color3=&showZipError=n&page_location=findacar::ispsearchform&body_code=0&default_sort=distance&max_mileage=&address=43201&color=WHITE&model2=911TURBO&adMake=CHEV&color2=BLACK&seller_type=b&num_records=25&cardist=277&ref=srl So, what are your thoughts? Is the Porsche worth being that much more than the Corvette?
  19. I just got cited for Wreckless Operation. This is how it went down: Officer: "I pulled you over because I noticed that you managed to not wreck into those cars back there." Me: "That's right, Officer. I did not wreck into anything." Officer: "Now, is it true that some of your cars catch on fire?" Me: "That's the rumor. However, I don't wreck into people, that's for sure." Officer: "Then, in the absence of a wreck, I think I'll have to cite you for Wreckless Operation." Me: "Is it anything like Reckless Operation?" Officer: "No, you moron. Reckless Operation is when you recklessly operate your vehicle, like going 100 mph and things like that. Wreckless Operation is when you don't wreck into anything. Get it, retard?" Me: "Yes, so sorry, thanks for that explanation." Officer: "Here's your citation. Please, keep up the wrecklessness." Me: "Will do."
  20. Okay, yeah, he didn't say he got Reckless Op. I think you assumed he got that by him talking about only getting 8 points, etc.
  21. First, the English language asked if you'd quit wrecking it. :gabe: Second, where did he say he got hit up for Reckless op? Posting now, going back to re-read to see where I might have missed it.
