Anyone know a shop that does a lot of Tremec transmissions? Looking to beef one up a little, possibly buy one new and do so they handle 600 horsepower stock - wouldn't mind blueprinting and pushing it up a little TKO600 is the model i want, maybe a TKO500

I don't guess there's someone on these boards that likes to build blow-through carbs? I've got other worries at the moment...and would like to not be worrying about whether the carb is right...when i fire this sucker up (there will be plenty of other variables messing up...I'd like to eliminate this one)
-
very very interesting thanks for posting - hadn't seen that although, i might wonder if buying a specially built carb is easier in the long-run a buddy has a new mighty demon 750 blow through for $500 that's a bit tempting
-
i'm not at all familiar with the pressurizing box method, but it sounds interesting I almost went with an ATI procharger system instead But 'cheap' appeals, just to show someone that it can be done So far, I've got $900 in everything.... the procharger would be an easy 3,000 or 4,000 down

hum I've got 8 455 blocks, 3 400 blocks and probably 20 sets of heads enough new parts to build 2 or 3 engines, so that isn't much of a problem Been collecting this stuff for a long time, whenever I see it It's getting awful hard to find I've had 400's and 455's....and there's nothing like the torque of a 455 anyways, I thought several modifications needed to be made to a blow-through carb? (not to mention the added hat) I've been looking at those 'mighty demon' blow through carbs, but i'd listen to cheaper options
-
another buddy i trusted that works for Ford and comes across good, used parts on occasion otherwise, i probably would have just gambled on some from ebay http://homepages.udayton.edu/~mertzgea/100_0977.JPG I still haven't figured out what sort of carb to use. I like q-jets, but hear they don't respond too well to the blow-through modifications

2 holset H1E's Biggish diesel turbos from what i know according to the map, they should be good for a lower RPM motor (like a pontiac) this is gonna be my first setup, all on the cheap and after i blow up the engine from learning to tune it the first time, I'll build something fancier It'll go into a 60's GTO or Firebird (no car, yet...shopping) I've got a '66 GTO they'll go in until i find something more suitable so, i don't anticipate any problem with engine space - i'll take the inner fenders out and have a crapload of room The headers are the biggest headache - all have to be custom I've got a beat 400 engine that's low compression these will go on for testing and a 467 forged components motor is almost built and ready...and will be the victim when i learn more about it http://homepages.udayton.edu/~mertzgea/100_0965.jpg Mockup on a 70's firebird to get the angle of the exhaust manifolds right http://homepages.udayton.edu/~mertzgea/100_0979.jpg http://homepages.udayton.edu/~mertzgea/100_0967.jpg High 10's, low 11's are the current goal. Maybe high 9's with the 467, after i learn what i'm doing A buddy has a setup that runs 9.87 that i'm modeling all this after

I've collected all the parts for a v8 turbo setup for a traditional pontiac engine (455, probably) Someone on here have an old chevy or ford v8 that I could talk to? I'd love to drop by some time and look at it, get opinions...thoughts etc This should be a fun build (two big Holset diesel turbos....i've got the manifolds mostly done already)

looked like a decent deal on that corvair i even thought about it -
ridiculously big and the swap meet was surprisingly small

most fun watching a movie in a long time I felt like a little giggling school girl

0, none collecting parts for an engine...in the event that i try again

nevermind...mike answered half the price of phillips and a few other places i called = much more reasonable

Maybe I'm spoiled....... But where I come from, Hot tank and mag'ing heads is maybe $20 a head...$40 a pair and that isn't a buddy price After you know a machine shop, they'll do it cheaper The cheapest I've found in columbus is $50/head at Phillips racing That's f'ing ridiculous Especially when I was going to start sorting through 20 or so heads I haven't been able to get ahold of anyone that knows their ass from their face at M&M yet, but i'll keep trying anyone know of a cheaper place?

Die. In jest, of course...kinda

there's a lot of caselaw on how those noncomplete clauses aren't legally enforceable...if the employer makes you sign them once you're already working it's a different matter if you sign it up front i'm not a lawyer, though and, as such, not licensed to give legal advice :x

too much 10.5 is really ideal for a 93 octane street motor, in my experience (alum heads) 9.5 for iron heads if you're perfectly tuned, and EFI helps...11.0 is doable 11.5 seems like you'd be asking for detonation or having to mess with timing so much that you'd be out of the power range it was built for i have no direct experience with Fords though... a good quenching chamber and the cam designed for the high compression can really help, ask crower for one that bleeds off the pressure a little maybe but i typically build motors that have a little room for my error....i'd be afraid of that being a monster to tune

are you kidding me? i'd have to be getting laid......to be forced to watch that different strokes for different folks, i guess but that looks fucking stupid, to me

My old roommate moved to Columbus on a whim to be my new roommate, more or less he's looking for anything from temporary to more permanent work - basically anything he's a college grad from a private school but actually prefers to work with his hands, he's been a carpenter for the last few years (can hang dry wall, build a deck - whatever) landscaping? construction? put his business degree to use? just about anything good fella in great shape who owns 2 bikes...he's a lot of fun to work with any leads? anyone know of a landscaping joint that would hire fast?

...in my experiences as a law clerk typically, firms like that...(advertise on tv) are all about volume at the expense of quality You walk in to the firm in the morning and go, "holy shit, the motions for xxx case are due today at the latest - we better do those" And the entire case gets 4 hours devoted to it that day...and noone pays attention to it for the next 5 months Then, the next day...that same scenario happens for another case, etc So, the firm is always behind...and doing just enough to do the minimum ...it really is disturbing....for the people that you know are depending on you for their life's savings/etc

It seems as though the most serious advice most of my friends could give you would be to lock yourself in your room until this notion passes.

they actually took 'em out of my home city because they were causing so many accidents a few people died when a big semi locked up its brakes and crashed (was carrying a coil of steel) definitely just for revenue
